Brilliant strategy. They went in wanting Lori, and went in with a deal that was just impossible for her to refuse, cut out all the risk for giving away 20% of their company. 80% with Lori is worth way more than 100% without her.

After the Handy Pan episode aired on television, they quickly sold out their inventory. The founders didn’t expect to see such strong demand for the product and are struggling to meet demands at the moment. It’s not clear if the deal with Lori Greiner closed in the end.
It's actually an excellent, strategic move if you think about it. They just wanted to reel in a shark, preferably Lori. They made it as easy as possible to bite, didn't spend anything on marketing before, now having access to 1st tier marketing because of Lori.
They came in at such a low valuation knowing it would likely get one of the sharks to bite. Now they have a big partner who can do all the advertising for them. They will probably get free spots on QVC now that they are with Lori. Pretty smart move in my opinion.
Agree. If I were them, I might be even happy to give Lori 20% share for free. But that way it might look too desperate, so I think them asking for, only 10k is a lot better in many ways. 😆
There's a rubber attachment that'll fit any pan that does the same thing but better. Wish they'd thought of making that instead of a whole pan you have to buy separate.
Great episode. These guys just weren't all in in their business, they gave themselfes time to develope and patent their product + they didn't rush for sales. They didn't ask for a huge amount of monay and just wanted a shark as a partner and consultant. All in all very well done
By the way, for those who came to watch this video, this ISN'T the lower offer ever on Shark Tank. There was another gentleman who came on I want to say maybe a year ago needing help getting his headphones on the market and asked for $10 for 10% of his company. I actually remember watching that episode where 2 sharks agreed and they both handed him a $10 bill at the end of the deal.
Robert was ‘straining’ to see the benefits whilst Lori quickly ‘greased’ the entrepreneur’s hands with investment. At least their pitch wasn’t ‘panned’ by all the sharks. Thank you. I’m available for birthdays and graduations.
Update: they haven't given any public statements on their current revenue. But the company is estimated to be worth $250,000 as of 2022. Safe to say, Lori ain't losing much on this company.
To be fair, I totally see the utility of this product. I cook a lot of pasta, and I hate using and cleaning strainers when doing so. Plus, the ability to strain out grease while cooking simply makes for a healthier meal by getting rid of liquid calories before the final product comes out. Kudos to these guys; I'm going to look for this thing right now.
It’s amazing most of these sharks spent the entire time ripping into them, ignoring the fact all of their grievances were already priced into the requested offer. They were acting like they came in only offering a 1% stake for 10k. Literally only one smart shark in the room, who realized trying to nickel and dime the deal would likely only lead to another shark wising up and counter offering leading to a higher evaluation than asked for.
Idk why Robert was undermining these guys' effort. Just because I didn't sacrifice a stable job doesn't mean I'm entitled to investment money more than someone that has a day job. Neither is someone who's working 2+ jobs and a startup more entitled than someone who isn't struggling financially. Investment should be on the product and the way the entrepreneur works... Not an empathy fund
That wasn't the only point he made. They spent three years with no apparent progress of their knowledge and skills. If they both need two jobs, are struggling financially, and couldn't bother to learn a thing or two for 3 years, why keep it going?

This was definitely one of the best pitches ever!! I like these guys they seem humble and honest. I wish them success!!
These guys genuinely wanted a partner and didn't care about the money. I feel they'll get the success they deserve. All the best to them.
Lori offering my salary for 6 months like it’s pocket change 🙂
I’m Adam!
I’m josh!
Barbra: I’m out

Out: I’m Barbara lmao
Mark and Laurie are genuinely good human beings !
“I’m Josh”
“I’m Adam”
“I’m Out” -Barbara
$10k is like chump change for the sharks 😂😂😂
This was the most reasonable, honest pitch ever.
Lori is like “My time is worth more than $10k. Fk it, I’ll just throw the 10k just so I don’t have to listen to Kevin’s blah blah blah” 😂😂
Lori: “I’ll give you what you want. I have nothing to lose!”
Me: “You have $10,000 to lose.”
Lori: “What do I care about 10 cents?”
Lori looks great and much more youthful and happy, she seems like a nice person too.
It's actually an excellent, strategic move if you think about it. They just wanted to reel in a shark, preferably Lori. They made it as easy as possible to bite, didn't spend anything on marketing before, now having access to 1st tier marketing because of Lori.
I love how Lori was like what I have to lose 😂😂😂
These guys are great. Took everything with a grain of salt and I love how the attorney thing came into play
They have such low sales because everytime i go on their website it says they're sold out.
They for sure were eyeing for Lori, when she placed the offer they said yes right away hahaha
This is the perfect pitch for "I'm here for a shark not money"
I wanted to learn more about the product. They mentioned it fits on most pans but it didn't get much further than that.
Barbara: "Cooking confuses me!" "For that reason I'm out!"
There's a rubber attachment that'll fit any pan that does the same thing but better. Wish they'd thought of making that instead of a whole pan you have to buy separate.
I heard Barbara went to that bar where the lawyer worked, ordered a drink, and she said, I forgot to tell you I’m out
LORI IS INDEED THE PERFECT PARTNER FOR THEM!!!
lmao while they were arguing Lori was like, hold up 10k is pocket change
When I first saw the product QVC clicked on my mind and then Lori got the deal. This should become a good hit.
Great episode. These guys just weren't all in in their business, they gave themselfes time to develope and patent their product + they didn't rush for sales. They didn't ask for a huge amount of monay and just wanted a shark as a partner and consultant. All in all very well done
Lori: "what do I have to lose?"
Me: more than my life savings?
😂😂😂right
I once saw the entrepreneur go for a deal of $1 for 25% and the counter was $2 for 50%. That would be the actual record for the lowest deal
It's just $10K what do I have to lose? That question hit hard lol
Handypan’s website still looks like it was made by a random high school student for IT class
What episode is that or video send me link
Wouldn’t this deal still be the lowest one? 10k for 25% is a lower valuation than 10k for 10%.
@@kenzylafrance $10
@@Theycallmelucelis ah, got it. Thanks lol
Wife's ALWAYS call their husbands "idiots" when they invent something, THEN they say "I made that man" when its time for divorce.
The strainer isn’t big enough. I can totally see things flying out of the pan over the strainer when all the food slips down in one go.
That deal happened so fast Kevin didnt even have a chance to brag about being 'Chef wonderful'
Imagine not worrying about losing 10k 😭
One of the best and nicest episodes of shark tank
Robert was ‘straining’ to see the benefits whilst Lori quickly ‘greased’ the entrepreneur’s hands with investment. At least their pitch wasn’t ‘panned’ by all the sharks.
Thank you. I’m available for birthdays and graduations.
LMAOOOOO When chef wonderful yelled at Marc Cuban "SO WHY IS THERE NO SALES MARC!!!!" LMFAOOOOOO
Update: they haven't given any public statements on their current revenue. But the company is estimated to be worth $250,000 as of 2022. Safe to say, Lori ain't losing much on this company.
Best pitch ever 😂😂😂. Lori killed me
Lori is a monster for "scooping" this deal up. As always my wife makes the best decisions.
It's why I never plan on having a wife
To be fair, I totally see the utility of this product. I cook a lot of pasta, and I hate using and cleaning strainers when doing so. Plus, the ability to strain out grease while cooking simply makes for a healthier meal by getting rid of liquid calories before the final product comes out. Kudos to these guys; I'm going to look for this thing right now.
******Spoiler alert*****
This is smart, they pitched an offer that Lorrie couldnt refuse.
It’s amazing most of these sharks spent the entire time ripping into them, ignoring the fact all of their grievances were already priced into the requested offer. They were acting like they came in only offering a 1% stake for 10k. Literally only one smart shark in the room, who realized trying to nickel and dime the deal would likely only lead to another shark wising up and counter offering leading to a higher evaluation than asked for.
it's amazing that it took Lori 20 minutes to figure out that she could own 20% of this for less than Mark Cuban spends on getting his nails done
After straining, grease is going to drip down the side of the pan that you will still have to clean up before continuing to cook
