Thanks so much for this video. My mechanic told me he wouldn't even do this job. But, all those steps made me nervous so I climbed under the steering wheel I have a 2008 Kia Sorento and if you use a flash light in the big gap and look through the little gap next to it you can see it. I unplugged the negative battery cable turned on headlights to drain excess, put the key into the locked position, my wife could get to the screw by feel and I was able to squeeze the clip to get it out. Then we put it back in, didn't need to remove safety cable. Took 15 minutes, but only because we were unsure if it would work. It did. But without your video we would never had tried so thanks.

I just did mine, took 15-20 minutes tops. Not nearly as bad as I was afraid it would be. Thanks for the video

This was a helpful video however, once I removed the front and side panels by removing 4 screws, two in the bottom of the lower dash panel and two that were under the side of the pop off side panel, I then removed the two screws that held on the hood release. This allowed me to remove the lower dash panel exposing the under belly of the beast. Before trying to remove the air bag and metal plate I decided to see if I could see and reach the switch on the back end of the ignition rod. I could in fact reach it and knowing from you it was held on by a single Phillips screw I was able to get my hand back there with a 2” Phillips screw driver and remove the screw, unplug the switch, install the new one, reinstall the screw and plug in the new switch. Unfortunately for me this did not fix my issue but I wanted to let you know I didn’t have to do any of the rest of what you did to do this. The hardest part was getting that screw back in the back side of the starter switch. I greatly appreciate all you showed as it helped me greatly. Thanks for your video.

Super straightforward. Thanks so much. Saved a couple hundred or so for $14.99.

I wish the design was simpler, you had to do a lot of taking apart before you got to that starter. I'm afraid I'd forget how it all goes back together. But you got it done, so congratulations on a job well done. I just may try to do this myself too. Thanks for making this video!

Easy fix, I have done this to my kia sorento 2008 without removing the panel. It would start when I put the key in the on position or when I start, the start engine would stay engaged. This also fixed my problem that I was having with my immobilizer. Sometimes it would not light up on the dash and I had to switch of and on until It came up again. Thanks!

My 2007 Kia Sedona was definitely different in a bunch of ways, but still close enough that this was very helpful. Thanks!

I found this on Rockauto for your car: WVE 1S12053 is the part number for the ignition starter switch. Look under electrical switch and relay. Hope this helps.

You're amazing. Figuring out what clip to remove & how to remove it, what screws need taken out good Lord. I dread the thought of the cost at a garage or dealer @ $75 per hour. I'd have to write down all the steps so I could put this puzzle back together. Great job. Is this the wife's car?

Thanks Joe! It is sometimes like a puzzle. You never know if panels have hidden screws. It’s my sister-in-law’s.
