@@BigDogDiagnostics I did it by turning the steering wheel and removing the screws. Removed the bottom shroud with the steering wheel still in place. My Sorento is a 2013. 👍🏼
thanks this was helpful. was able to chisel them off. went to my hardware store today and found a metric match. M8 x 1.25 x 16mm or shorter, a sharp wood chisel worked really well.

I have a question if i was to replace the ignition switch with a new one with new keys on a 2012 kia rio would those keys have to be programmed to the car ??
Nope. The the immobilizer lock cylinder and transponder keys all come as a unit. Very plug and play on this vehicle. If you were to just replace the key itself, you would then need to have it programmed or the immobilizer system will not recognize the new transponder RFID code inside your new key.
Yes. If you purchase the whole lock cylinder assembly. It comes with new transponder keys and all the other required security components necessary. It was turn key no programming.
Yes, if it ignition isn’t returning to the off position or stuck in acc position could definitely cause that. But there’s also a whole bunch of other things that could cause that. You would just need to diagnose the issue at hand. Check service information and and figure out where power is supplied to and under what circumstances when the key is in different positions. Look at the stereo wiring diagrams and look where the power, signal and grounds are supplied from. Make sure a relay is not stuck on..
@@Monarch1111 may be different security protocols. Always look at service information before attempting a repair like this. Also, there are many other miscellaneous wires and harnesses that need to be handled carefully when steering column is apart. Make sure you didn’t damage anything. Also, was it starting before you performed the replacement?

Disconnect battery to stop airbag going off theres a screw holding bottom cover somewhere in middle underneath on some robber just pulled mine down

Use a flathead and a hammer and gently tap it on the side to loosen it
I think you might be talking about the lock housing clamp
You can use a center punch and hammer or if you have a dermal, cut slot on the top and use a flathead.
