Sad we have to go through this
Brooo my shit got stolen last night thank god I paid $600 to get it off the lot drivable
GOOD VIDEO BETTER THAN MOST
Thanks for this Vid bro
Just happend to me. They couldn start mine cause its manuel lol. Anti theft in itself This video helped me thanksss.
A 3rd peddle is definitely a anti theft mechanism in the United States
Just happened to me same thing manual lol
Great video! How much would you charge for this job? My 2012 genesis coupe was broken into :(. Luckily they couldnt steal it cuz transmission is bad too haha
It all depends, on how far I’m traveling, if they want to match the door lock to ignition, or if they need a remote with it .
Anyway where are you located at ?
This just happened to me recently, do you need to get a brand new battery ?
My question is don*t you have to reprogram the key even if you did everything to make sure that the key can sttart the car, open the door I have a 2014 Hyundai Elantra and I bought a new blank to have an extra spare , in the dealer thdy had to reprogram it so it would work, or is it only the key fob, I bought the both things to have an extra set.
I saw you were reinstalling the 'headless" bolts that hold the switch mechanism with the steering column lock to the steering column. The headless bolts were not meant to be re-used. For this type of repair, they can easily be replaced by a "socket cap screw" M8x18mm long that accepts a 6mm Allen head bit. Tightening these down is much easier than tapping a headless bolt. It is possible to buy special M8 bolts with heads that break off after they're tightened, but they aren't really necessary, and they cost much more than a socket cap screw of the same size.
Where do I get the screws from
@@dantemccoy467 Home depot
What thread pitch on the bolts?
Hi yesterday bad boys tried to carjack my car, and they broke the switch,
Where I can find a switch
And for replacement you can help
Thanks
How can I find out which models ignition switches are interchangeable? I need one for a 2014 Santa Fe with a key and illumination.
They all work and get the car running just make sure it’s the same length so the plastic covers fits once it’s installed
They broke into my car and shattered the rear windows. Can you identify the specific parts I need to order if I send you pictures?
Sure email me pictures
Thanks for the video! They failed at stealing my gf's 2014 Elantra - replaced the back window and ignition assembly and it starts, but the instrument cluster (speedometer, fuel gauge) doesn't work now (along with shift interlock, which has an easy workaround). Tried unplugging the cluster, cleaning contacts, replacing fuse. The fuse socket isn't getting power. It did have moisture inside for ~1.5 weeks from melting snow. Any ideas?
Does anyone know how much would some charge to fix it
Where do you travel to? I just got my Hyundai stolen also and they to broke my window and ignition. How much to get it replaced?
Are you in or near the Philadelphia area?
@@PhilyCarsAndKeys hell nah not even close. I should’ve read your name first before commenting lol
Just had this happen to me. I have a viper alarm system so car wont drive without key, but the key wont go in anymore. Is there a workaround or should i just tow.
Sorry I don’t own this car and I got customers same problem u doing .. does it have chip or anti theft that have to reprogramming ?after replace the whole ignition switch assembly
No that’s the main reason they get stolen
I bought a new ignition switch with the key, so I have to program the new key to the vehicle? I have a 2011 Hyundai sonata
No just the remote
Thanks for this video. I just sent you an email about my 2020 Hyundai Elantra. Where did you order the parts for this repair? Appreciate a response when you have the time!
I got used parts from a local junkyard
However you can find them online as well
Good day
I watch the whole video, I want to buy a new lock set for kia 2014...
Will I need to programme it after installing or it's plug and play?
Plug and play
Only new remote requires programming
Thank you for this. My Hyundais been in the shop almost a year now due to this just waiting on a new engine.
They are trying to charge me 2500 to replace the ignition 1900 for parts when I found all the parts for around 1200.
I’m going to buy the parts and attempt this myself. Stressful but I think I can do it
Dang girl sorry you’re going through this. My Kia soul was JUST stollen and damaged luckily I have LoJack so I was able to see it and recover but man it’s beyond frustrating
The ignation cost 1900? Wat parts did u purchase?
@@luis-jh2dy the parts all together is 1200
Hyundai is trying to charge me 1900 for parts and 600 in labor
@@Sarahjane30107 the $1200 including a new engine? Or just for the ignition?
@@PhilyCarsAndKeys just the ignition alone. My engine replacement is free due to warranty extension

Only the remote
i cannot find the ignition lock switch cylinder anywhere! any recommendations?

Hello. I have recently been victimized by the infamous "Kia Boys" and am in need of the same exact repair. I am in South Jersey, so I am about 20 minutes away from Philadelphia. What is your availability for repairs and what is the cost? I have a 2016 Hyundai Sonata.
Email me a picture of the broken ignition at 215locksmithguy@gmail.com along with your phone number . I will give you a call this morning

A failed attempt to steal my hyundai accent was made 2 nights ago. My key will still fit and turn some but no start the car. Is the something I'm missing to be able to start it?
Make sure the battery is charged and the ignition cylinder is installed correctly to match the back piece
Thank you but I mean my original switcch and key. It looks ecactly like this video but my key will still fit. Just trying to drive until I get able to fix. The car dings when key is in but cylinder won't turn.@@PhilyCarsAndKeys
@@charlesyates2738 when they use a screwdriver to brake it . Sometimes they damage the internal of your switch
So make sure the key is all the way in the ignition cylinder and try to turn it with some force
If you manage to turn it then you can remove it like I did in the video and possibly be able to fix it
Do you know anyone in the Hampton roads area of Virginia ? that can do this kind of repair this happened to my Kia

The ultimate anti theft system
hi I have a question , my gfs car got stolen and the ignition isn’t working is a Elantra 2018 I live in New York the Bronx to be exact 😂, how much would it be to get fix ?
I’m located in philadelphia pa
It’s much cheaper to call someone local
My 2020 Kia Soul was broken into last night the bust my rear passenger window they didn’t mess my ignition switch, but my windshield wiper switch is broken. How much would that repair cost?
Buy the part and do it yourself
Those switches usually listed for $30-200 new
Depending if it’s a split side or one piece with the turn signal, if both sides attached together then airbag and steering wheel need to come off .
Remove the plastic cover around the steering wheel and take a look at it
Thanks bro hey where did you get nuw swtch?

If they just ruined the key slot area but didn’t get any further shouldn’t I be able to just buy the ignition switch with new keys and replace just that?
Yes
Did you have to program the new key and if so how did you do it ?
@@enriquemoreno5685 No. It was actually REALLY simple to replace and the lock came with 2 new keys. It took like 5 minutes.
Good video I did do exactly same thing for the ignition but when we try to start it it wouldn’t turn on and the dash lights weren’t going on too. Reprogram chip to the new key or?
No Programing is needed. Have you checked your battery for 12v ?
We are trying to jump it and it won’t start. It cranks. It wants to but won’t.

Call your local junkyards
And most ignitions from different models Kia /Hyundai will fit

Is there a way to just remove the cylinder if it’s damaged and a key won’t fit in
It has to turn to acc mode before it can be taken out
What acc mode?
@@imaniiali7488accessories. One click forward from the OFF position. It'll say ACC
Does new key need to be reprogrammed?
No only new remote controls
Oh my god how did they take the trim off is what I need to know, same problem no one shows how to get the trim off.
Do you need to disconnect the battery
It’s always recommended but not necessary for this one
Did you have to reprogram the key how do you figure out if you have to or not
It’s a 2001 Hyundai accent.
Keys don’t get programmed on those cars , that’s why they get stolen easily.
Only remote control does . Keyless entry
Same deal - watching your video to try and fix it myself 😢
Good luck, if you got the complete ignition cylinder and housing then it’s easy just 2 bolts
Replaced lock cylinder and still having problems turning 😔. If I take it out and turn by pliers, it switches and start flawlessly.
Dealer did the anti theft ignition recall on my 16 kia
Soul and didn’t check alignment when completing the job/installing ignition. Now my turn signal and wiper signal and plastic cover are misaligned. They refuse to fix it. Want me to replace steering column. What can I tell them? Help me Obi Wan Kanobi!
Easy fix
Loosen up the 2 bolts line everything up and tighten them back up
Thank you! You’re video is excellent! Hopefully they can figure it out.
Small saw and make straight line in the screw head then you will be able to remove the screws with a screw driver , I always do this when a screw is damaged
I used a dremel and that worked too
How did you get thr damaged ignition off without using key kia boys got me . Help please
In most cases the ignition is broken
, if not use your key to turn it to on position
If all fails remove the 2 bolts and replace the assembly
My roommates Kia soul just got broken into ima try to attempt this and hope that it cranks right up but My question is if you find the lock cylinder w the key will it plug and play like you shown in video or will the theft system need reprogramming to get the car to start I know I’ll have to program the remote and key for sure appreciate it in advance
Only new remote will need programming
Everything else is plug and play
But why immobilizer allow you using unregistered key? I don’t get it
In the US those cars don’t have an immobilizer
@@PhilyCarsAndKeys if so why there is antenna coil around the switch and transponder inside the key? why there is eprom chip inside the ecu
@@mohammedrubian it’s not an antenna it’s just a light ring . There is no chip in the key .
If what you saying is true these kids won’t be stealing those cars with a flat head screwdriver and a usb cable .
They didn’t add those things until 2022 models here in the USA
DISCONECT BATTERY SO AIRBAG DOES NOT GO OFF
I’m here bc they got me
They got us all
Got mine twice 😩 even After ignition upgrade from Hyundai
Sorry to hear that , just sell the car . Unfortunately no fix for it unless you turn it to push button by a shop
Somebody broke into my Elantra how much will this cost to fix
It depends on the damage, what needs to be replaced. And where you located
i feel yall pain 3x in one year
I can't find the part i need. I need help lol
Those bolts are NOT headless. Likely broken during the theft attemp
What bolts ?
@PhilyCarsAndKeys the bolts you used a flathead and hammer to loosen up. They have a 12mm head originally. Very poor design, hence the reason they were broken. I know this because I had a kia that was broken into and the column was exposed and busted. Once I went to replace the old one, I noticed that one of the two bolts was missing a head.
@@jaydawg7200 that’s by design. Once they reach the Pacific torque measure, the head will snap off leaving you with headless bolt ( for security reasons) .
Can I Hotwire my car to bypass the ignition damage? I’m poverty poor. I’m just trying to make my Tucson drivable at this point
Just start it like the thief’s do , or turn the rear ignition switch on with a flathead
I’m sorry this gives me nothing
Please update the description to include the OEM part #
You can call the dealership and they will provide you OEM part number . However Amazon ignition will do just fine .
And a lot of those cars ignitions are interchangeable
@@PhilyCarsAndKeys Good point, I forgot dealerships exist. Thank you for the response
