- My 2012 Kia Rio SX was stolen on a Turo Trip. They damaged the ignition switch, so I ordered a new combo kit directly from Kia.
Where you can order the kit combo I received.

Thank you so much for posting this!!!!!! My husband and I (who have zero experience with cars) were able to change the ignition out ourselves. Amazing! Thank you!
Best video to do this! I bought the Chinese kit from auction site less than 30 bucks and 2 keys. Good for cars with no IMMO. Bought a TopDon ScanPro with IMMO for 90 bucks to program 2 key fob remote. Cheaper than the Stealer. Only wish Turo didn't hold the 250 deductable for this. They should pay 100 percent for lost/damaged keyfobs
BRO THANK YOU I literally almost started crying when your car started, because all I could think abt was mine. It’s been out of commission for 2 months! I have my ignition switch already but now I don’t have to pay anyone to fix it I’m more than capable of doing it on my own. 🙌🏼
Glad it’s going to work out.
Thank you 🙏🏽 😢 someone tried stealing me n my wife’s car n I now kno how to replace it bless you 🙏🏽❤️
Same here Smh
Thanks man for making this video... I was successfully able to change out my ignition lock because of you.. I had no ideal Kia's were such a popular item to steal until it happened to my girlfriend SMH!! I really appreciate you taking the time for showing me how to take care of the replacement ignition lock. My girl has a 2015 kia soul and your instructions worked perfectly.
I’m glad it was helpful!
How much was the kit ?
How much was the part from the dealer?
Sir I just changed mine today. Thank you for great video
Glad it helped
I called Kia dealership and they told me it wouldn’t be over $1200.00 for parts and labor as everything’s went up due to inflation 🤦♀️ any help on a site online I can get these parts cheaper would be great!
How much was your kit? It’s not mentioned in video
My 2011 Hyundai was stolen Friday and I also got it back Friday but my column and ignition is damaged smh
thank you very much for your video i helped me a lot change my ignition
Great video and very clear thank you very much you saved me a lot time 🙏
Thank you!
How much are the kits my 2015 Kia soul was “almost” stolen Friday night and I’ve got to replace the steering wheel lock cylinder & the housing 😢
Very smart, thanks for making this videos
This happened to me too. I have a Forte. My question is, how do you get the old cylinder out if you can't push in the tab underneath because it's stuck in the off position? 🤔
Turn the old ignition to accessory mode with a screwdriver
I did replaced the cylinder lock and housing. It works fine but will not allow me to turn the key to lock position to remove the key. Any suggestions?
thank you for the video its great!
Hello brother So you dont need the key to put in posicion on to get that pin up and push out the cylinder ?
@@klanr508 you just move the new cylinder lock face to match wherever they left it from turning it. You should see your new part spins freely.
Another person who doesn't know the difference between a lock and a switch...
My kia forte was stolen n just recovered. Are u telling me I can fix this without going to dealership? Please help dealer is saying that I have to wait a month
this is for a kia Rio. It could apply to your car, but that's for you to evaluate.
I loved that video instruction; good job

How people actually steal these Hyundai and Kia with these key cylinder locks is they stick a USB end of a phone charger into that rectangle piece @4:19. The USB acts like the key's immobilizer and will allow it to start the car.
Of course you need to put the ignition to ACC to depress the pin to slide out the ignition cylinder but people just pry it off with a screwdriver and it exposes to that piece.
The funny thing is that even the brand new model of the Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte and Soul are still vulnerable to these theft still. Just get a push button start car and cross your fingers that they don't have a Relay Boxes to amplify your keys and steal your car like they do with the Scatpacks and Hellcats.
Look up Kia Boys on TH-cam and you will see multiple videos of them driving stolen cars.
The USB doesn't do anything, they just use it to rotate the switch. These cars have no immobilizer, that's the reason they are so easy to steal. Just pop off the lock and turn the switch with whatever you can find.
why mine is not start after i replace it ?
donde puedo comprarlo?
Kia Dealership
Question.. will this fix the issue in my kia optima 2011 the key is stuck and it would not come out
Im not sure but it could.
Thank you
Sir, pls telle if it is about the same for a 2009 kia barago.
This is for a Kia Rio. Why would you even think this applies to a different car.
Hello sir..My partnumber 18905 1w420 kia rio 2012, it is possible to use part#18905 3w550 ignition switch & cylinder lock set..
I’m not sure your best bet is to call your local Kia dealer, give them your vin and have they give you the correct part #.
How much including key
The whole kit was like $205
@@juvibrowholesale7798 where can I get the kit
Looking to get a kia rio 2015. How is yours holding up. Are they reliable? Would you recommend it?
It’s a gamble, these engines are oil burners. The car is also so sensitive it always throws check engine lights for things. If you run the car out of oil on accident because it only holds 3.5 qts, a replacement is like $2300 before labor. That is so expensive compared to a Honda Civic engine those are like $400.
@@juvibrowholesale7798 what do you recommend on doing to keep it reliable and make it last long?
@@juvibrowholesale7798 No, a $400 Civic motor would only be a 20+ year old one. So 2000 Civic.
Not an equal comparison.
A 2015 Civic engine (same year as yours) is about the same $2k ish price. Depends on a lot of factors.
Honda should be more reliable.
As far as helping the car last: just do oil changes on time (less than 5k between intervals). But if you bought the car late (100k+ miles) then it's hard to know how well it was kept before.
Wish you would of had someone holding the camera. 🤦🏾♀️ I wanted to see how to line it up.
There is nothing difficult about lining it up. It spins freely, should be pretty easy to figure out.
@@juvibrowholesale7798 thanks for the feedback.
How do I put it in accessory mode?
I explain it in the video
Just happen to my GF man I’m pissed. What year was your Kia ?
2012
@@juvibrowholesale7798 I’m currently stuck. The ignition lock cyclinder will not come out. I’m pressing the bottom but nothing. Is it more than 1?
Did you figure it out? It just happened to my gf and the cylinder won’t come out with the release button.
@@chrisestrada9621 Yes. Ignition has to be turned in Acc to come out. I had to call a lock smith because it was so damaged. He replaced everything for 200bucks.
Awesome how much was the part?
I don’t quite remember, I think I mentioned it in the video.
Is it the same for a Sorento?
It could be similar remove all the plastic and take a look. The parts will not be the same though.
I think those are dash mounted, so they could be a bit different. They could have the same pin design though, not sure if all Kia's do that but I know a lot of the cars I've worked on have something similar.
Bro this work for the 2015 kia optima lx
Take off the bottom panel and check. The part number should be different but I believe it should be similar to replace. Only one way to find out.
@@juvibrowholesale7798 kia boys already remove it for me got my car back today from Philadelphia police department
@@freshness4214 well you should be able to see if it has the same button to remove the cylinder.
Still not safe
How much did it cost to get the key programmed to open the doors?
Every locksmith has a different price. I have my own tool to program key fobs.
@@juvibrowholesale7798 my car was also stolen while on a TURO rental and just got it back this morning
@@ozzielomeli4690 glad you got it back
@@juvibrowholesale7798 which tool exactly?
thanks
No chip sir only for remote programming
I bought a $600 key tool and it let me program the remotes. I’m making a spares for all my cars lol.

Thank you for this video.
