This was a great video and the best thing compared to so many others Is “he’s very detailed and specific about at the car noises. And even demonstrates the noises. Good informed information. Thanks bud. Currently my damn car won’t start and I’m first gonna start with trying to jump it. My car is having g no sound at all. But lights up but with it not even making a clicking noise I think it’s the battery to begin with or the cables and terminals.
should i check that if my car starts with a jump? i’m so confused because my battery is 1.5 years old, car doesn’t start without a jump, engine tries to turn over then it clicks and gives up, i had a loose terminal for a while but rn i’m torn between pumping gas in my running car or just turning it off and going to sleep in this lot
Very well put together. I’m struggling with starting my 85 Cadillac DeVille. Still having issues but I’ve got a few things here I can try. Well done on the great, clear and informative video!
8:33 When jump-starting a car, always connect the negative (black) cable to an unpainted metal part of the dead car's chassis, not the negative terminal of the dead battery. This avoids sparks near the battery, reduces the risk of explosion, and helps protect both cars' electrical systems.
Yeah, I can figure that much..just wondering where to start based on your very well put order, I’ll watch again and pick one, although the whirl happened while driving the current problem is the turn-over skirt skirt problem, lol. Thanks!
Thanks this was such a thorough video. I'm in Australia and I wonder if there is any business that only replaces components in items such as start motors here. I haven't heard of any.
Just found this video. Very Professionally done. I have the symptoms where I hear a Click when I try to start the truck (Toyota Tundra 2007). The Starter Relay is good. The battery is good. My thinking is the Click being the starter solinoid takes some amount of current to activate it, and when it provides power to the Starter motor, the Starter Motor should draw quite a few amps if it is a good motor. In this case, I see no increase in current to the starter. Either that means the windings are open, or there is another circuity that provides power to the starter motor. One test I did was turn on the lights then try to start the truck. Lights did not dim at all, even with the click I heard. My guess is the starter motor. That about right?
Dont forget also, another sign that the starter is bad or going bad is when you start the engine and the engine is running but it's making a grinding noise but the noise goes away after starting the engine a couple of times. Then the grinding noise comes back on again but no check engine light, then that's the starter going bad. It's still works but the brushes is worn out, the stater doesn't disengage from the fly wheel and it grinds against the fly wheel. That's when you buy a new starter.
I bought a new starter after the other one had a burning smell and dripping fluid on the side but 2 weeks after putting a new one it has stopped working too , so what may be the cause ?
3:10 ii think ii was experiencing the “multiple clicks or chattering sound” before my starter stopped working, so ii took my battery to go charge, I’ll update you when the battery comes back
I have 1989 GMC Sierra 5.7L and it’s making the noise @3:53 I had just bought a new starter not too long ago. It now doesn’t even start it only makes that noise. 3:53 Idk if I need to order a flywheel and replace the starter again or what. The alternator doesn’t even spins but you can hear the starter.

Recently replaced (can’t recall what it was called , but it’s in the steering column and has a few wires to it with a moving part that engages/disengages something 🤓) I’ll find what it’s called and re post .
9:02 I had the no sound problem, thought it was the battery and bought a new one, Turned out it was just the plug at the end of the wire coming from the battery to the starter that was loose... I spent so much but the problem was so small 😂😅
What are your thoughts on me switching gears by hand (floor rusted through and that cable is shot but idk how to mount yet, parking brake also) on the transfer case of a 03’ Chevy SILVERADO…may or may not have been lazy and sick of burning myself in the same spot on the muffler..leaving it in the last position.. and when I got on the interstate, I accelerated and got a whirling possibly in neutral sound and it lost all momentum, except enough to make it very slow, 1st gear possible up a ramp and into a gas station spot because sounded like dying, and then died. Rhythmic like clicking even after changing the battery. Battery was old and did test weak. So we changed it thinking it was just that. Alternator is also pretty much brand new. It got replaced last September. It'll click 4 or 5 times then stop. Then I can turn the key back off. Then turn it again, and it usually fires up.

Mine just started this morning..slow cranking no start. At first I thought it's the battery but it's the same even on jump start with another vehicle. Checked the relay, it's good. A friend suggested it might be a stuck fan/idler pulley as what he experienced with a vehicle same model as mine that he fixed. They replaced the battery and starter, same. Replaced the pulley, worked. I'm not yet sure with mine though. Can this be the case?
What about if it makes just one click like in your video ,can I determine that it is the starting motor and not the alternator? Can I determine anything about the alternator if the car just makes one click ? I guess not but had to ask

(I only say that because I’d listen to a face like that, lol) 😅😢
That was excellent!! Thanks!!!
Hi sir great information I am from Sri Lanka I need help starter noise sound how to fix
Hey I hope you see this. My truck has the single click, but if I keep turning the ignition enough, it will eventually start up. Could this be the ignition switch or still the starter?
My car make grinding sound when I try to turn it on. Or sometimes it doesn’t want to start at times
Same with mine 😮
Hey did you fix it my car is literally doing the same thing after trying to start it multiple times now it’s making a grinding sound ?
I have a truck that wont start but goes "click, click, click, click, click, click..."
steady and not super rapid but also not slow.
Any ideas?
This is my bmw - click click click click. Maybe two clicks a second
Maybe battery or alternator
2018 mkx makes a click sound once but no start & also makes a suction type sound inside back like speakers? Any suggestions? After a few tries, it starts.
Thanks for your information
What are your thoughts on me switching gears by hand (floor rusted through and that cable is shot but idk how to mount yet, parking brake also) on the transfer case of a 03’ Chevy SILVERADO…may or may not have been lazy and sick of burning myself in the same spot on the muffler..leaving it in the last position.. and when I got on the interstate, I accelerated and got a whirling possibly in neutral sound and it lost all momentum, except enough to make it very slow, 1st gear possible up a ramp and into a gas station spot because sounded like dying, and then died. Won’t do anything but turn over well and scratchy noise..made sure to let everything dry I flooded, still won’t start…what did I do?!? Tell me what to do! (I only say that because I’d listen to a face like that, lol) Also, agree with all the comments. I’ve wanted a 60 second straight to the point but easy to understand tutorial auto guy on here. Voted next up and coming! 😅😢
Hard to say sorry, could be many things. Unlikely the shifter tho because it should still start and run in neutral
Very good video. Thanks
What about if it makes just one click like in your video ,can I determine that it is the starting motor and not the alternator?
Can I determine anything about the alternator if the car just makes one click ? I guess not but had to ask
