+Caleb Loewen You can get salvaged m3s from insurance auctions and what not for 3-6k depending on mileage and damage. Stay away from any flood vehicles. I will try to make another video on the coding and electrical components as well. Thanks for watching!
so my 2002 5 spd e46 touring lost all compression in 5. the piston rings or the head has a hole (oil on the spark plug when i pulled it out from 5 but all others are clean). so i just need a new engine. thinking of an s54 swap but i honestly dont have time to take on the project so im curious, in your opinion (understanding every shop is different) what would be your best guestimate for how much an s54 swap would be? i love my wagon so i dont know if i want to get rid of it yet.
The zhp is a cammed 330, its rare, but not really worth the extra money in my opinion. Although the bumpers, and interior is an added bonus, if you do decide to get a zhp, aim for the 6 speed.
Hey what about the m3 radiator? Is it necessary for the swap? Does it fit in the 330i or would you recommend gettin an aftermarket radiator? Also, are parts like the center support bearing and rear bushings necessary from the m3 or can you use the 330i parts?
Brandon Khan you need the M3 radiator because it's shorter to fit the oil cooler, or unless you use the M52/M52 oil filter housing with no oil cooler then it will fit, but no oil cooler.

It all depends on where you are located. Some states allow for you to certify the swap as long as the engine and everything is from a newer vehicle and you have to get it inspected. I would check with your local dmv.

I have a 2003 530 Mtech and have been thinking of putting a S54 into it. Its an auto unfortunately, but i really would like to put a 6 speed alongside the s54. I was just wondering if u think its just as challenging to do this swap into a E39 seeing how they share the same engine as the E46.
+Prosthetics89 It should not be anymore difficult than doing the swap into an e46. It should bolt up without any problems, the coding might be a little different in terms of dsc and what not. Let me know if you decide to go through with it, ill be glad to help with whatever I can.
Hey, i thought that if it's a 330i, all you have to change in the rear is the differential and not the rear brakes. Is it 100% necessary to change the whole rear end? Thanks
+Raul Andrade I will be making a video showing how to code out the ews using NCS Expert. Coding out the ews will allow you to use your original key for the car. The method described in this video uses the donor ews and ignition tumblr which would cause you to have a different ignition key.
miguel pena pena I passed it with no problem at south western college, my cats are almost done and that was the only problem, make sure you get good cats if you are planning to swap it.
Hey man, I have a e46 vert... It's a 2005 with about 100k on the motor. It leaks oil pretty bad, about a quart every 500 miles. Is it time for a new motor or fix the leak. Leak down test? Compression test? Thanks
+Scott Ball Do you know where its leaking oil from? Oil Filter Housing, Oil Pan, or Valve Cover, or the front and rear seals? I wouldn't jump to replacing the motor until solving any and all leaks first and then monitoring the amount of oil that is being burnt. When you are driving do you see blue smoke out of the tail pipe?
B Souza I’m one of the 👎🏼. Useless video as a wrecked m3 with the 6 speed is around 5K. Add the labor to do the swap and you’re looking st 8K all together. 8K in a 2K car is a waste of money.

Hey man what's your thoughts on 330ci zhp? I've been looking at some as I currently have a 328i

If you have a 330 can you not run the stock rear end? Thought the input flange on the 330 diff bolted up to m3 driveshaft

The s54 rear subframe is different than the non-m one. The 330 rear brakes are similar to the rear m3 brakes but are not the same.
