When you get to the point of extension against your hands/contact, you'll want to apply upward firm pressure in the suboccipital region. Do not continue extending backwards at that point.

motivationaldoc What do you think about the Atlas Orthogonal Technique? I'm going to a chiropractor next week for a consultation and probably treatment with this technique. I have 2 bulging cervical discs, 2 bulging lumbar discs, TMD, and pain in the occipital area with headaches. I've gone to 3 different chiropractors and physical therapists which did not help me. Thank you for your videos. I have been doing all of the exercises you have recommended.

motivationaldoc I just did it thank you! 😘🙏I can’t believe it helped me turn my head and neck from side to side I have been in horrid crying pain for months and can’t lift my head up off my shoulder always to the left side my chiro hurt me accidentally knocked it out of position when he cracked it and my jaw and your technique is how I sleep at night too on my back on the pillows it is cracking now So is that normal? I could not get it to stop cracking when my chiro hurt me I was scared told him he did not mean to hurt me he is a strong man I am tiny with a small neck. My spasm on the trapeze area is so big and hard nothing can soften it I can’t take muscle relaxers I throw up and get dizzy so don’t know if this will ever heal and my daughter tried to massage me once in a while it’s a long tendon or bone on the left side of my neck that has stiffened severe nausea and pain from this Always! I don’t know if itveill ever go away I have disc degeneration too and austeo arthritis in skull but it’s this stiff neck thing that swells up near side of my throat I can’t swallow water or eat without holding my neck skin with my hand back so I can eat without choking but when I let it go it comes right back and rises up on trapeze between the shoulder. I hope I don’t need surgery but I know I can’t live like this forever either. I will keep watching you thank you God Bless you too! Ginger PS. I am sleeping on a leather couch with quilt blankets and pillows I have no bed, this hurts so I go to bed with this and wake up the same way stiff and I’m crying pain. Just thought you might like to know don’t think a bed would heal me and pain also nerve pain travels down under the arm to the elbow hand fingers too I can’t squeeze or open a bottle or hold a spoon in that hand. Guess I am a hopeless case right now. Praying always!🙏

Happen to stumble across this video, at first I wasn't doing it correctly (always in a rush). Once I got it, instant relief...I cant believe it, today (morning after) still no pain. To wake up pain free is incredible...thank you for this video, keep helping people 👏 🙌 👏

This is unbelievable. I've been suffering with this throbbing pain in the back of my skull for years! I tried the stretch while watching along and didn't even realize it did anything until you mentioned being able to move ones head around much easier afterwards. As soon as I rotated my head I noticed, no strain, pain or weird clicking/popping. It's instantly gratifying, which is really something us pain suffers only dream of.

I have never left a comment on a video but I had to thank you… When I paused about 10min ago, after doing 3 “sets” @45seconds each- And being driven, to do my best, by my level of need for SOME relief (before watching your video), definitely helped my ‘grips/holds’ strength ;) the migraine that’s been so bad for days I was really starting to feel like there had to be something serious beyond an already debilitating migraine is gone. It was when I paused. No more pain. No more aura. No more sensitivity to light. Or sound. No pressure. A slight little headache is still there… feels like it’s “deeper” now, closer to my actual spine & shoulder blades… almost centered. But it feels like nothing. Thank you for what you do. You are an amazing human & the world needs many more of you. We have a big family and do our best to make the most of our time here on earth… you saved me!

I honestly cannot believe what an absolute game-changer this was for me. A few weeks ago, I became very stressed out. I never get headaches, yet I had massive migraine that came from the base of my skull, up the back and top of my skull, and down to my eyes. I struggle with muscle pain and inflammation from TMJ, which I keep pretty well under control, but I sometimes get some painful flare-ups that affect my neck, side of head, ears, and eyes. This was a particularly bad episode, and my vision was being affected by what felt like the muscles in my occipital being so tight that they triggered a wildfire effect. I was having a lot of pain and discomfort around my eyes, a little bit of shooting pain in my right eye, and uncontrollable eye movements. My eyes felt like they were being "pulled" by a series of tight muscles coming from my neck and temporalis muscle. I was doing massages, using heat, using muscle relaxers, etc. Nothing was working. Desperate to find relief, I watched this video and tried the simple exercise. HOLY COW, it worked!!! I experienced relief instantly. No joke: Instant relief. Since yesterday, I have been doing the exercises several times a day, plus using a few chiropractic tools I have at home to stretch my neck and ice. This video helped me understand the source and how to not anger the muscles and nerves but relieve them. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video. I truly appreciate you helping me.

Also, if I do have an active migraine or noticeable tension in my neck, doing this technique provides immense relief, for as long as I hold the stretch.

I have been suffering with chronic neck pain/muscle tension for pretty much my whole adult life. I've gone to chiropractors, an acupuncturist, and massage therapists which all seemed to be temporary fixes (although I must admit acupuncture worked the best). I do yoga and stretches, I try to drink enough water to hydrate the muscles, and I use a heating pad daily and ice occasionally. Nothing seems to really relieve the pain. I tried this technique not expecting much and I was shocked to feel instant relief! Thank you so much for this information!

I have had severe neck pain now for 2 years. My doctors have treated it with opiates, muscle relaxers, steroid injections directly into my spinal cord, oral steroid, and over 4 months of physical therapy. What relief I got was always very short term. I stumbled on this video on You Tube. The movement this doctor recommends gave me immediate relief in too important ways. 1. Pain relief. 2. Restoration of my range of motion. The relief was immediate, and so far lasting. Amazing. P.S. My two spinal steroid injections cost a total of over $10,000 and gave me relief for only one week each time.

I had a Cervical fusion of my C4-C7 due to a car accident several years ago, suffered with migrains since I was 14 and they have only gotten worse since my accident. My neck pain at time was unbearable. Tried multiple injections, but that only helped for a short time and was back to square one. One of your videos showed up on my feed last night about how to relieve pressure from your occipitals etc... between that video and this one. I have NO pain whatsoever, have regained full range of motion in my neck all the pressure in the back of my head is gone, and an added bonus.... I can breathe so much easier now. Just want to thank you for these videos God bless.

Only thing, my hands really hurt, especially karate chop part. They are weak from arthritis and neuralgia, but worth it for relief. I'm going to try the cervical ablation next month bc I've been dealing with this horrible pain for over 25 years. Thank you and bless you.

Dr. Alan Mandel, I've just applied your great technique on how to relieve the neck pain, and the reflection is that the mobility of my neck becomes better and nimble, and the sense is loosing up the muscles of the neck to the degree of complete relaxation so that I can turn my head to the left or the right side easily without feeling the tense neck muscles like before. Thanks a lot for your sharing the neck relaxation skill to me! It surprises me and releases my tense neck muscles in spite of not having a neck pain! By the way, I just applied your skill for just two times, each for about 50 seconds.

Hey Doc, i been doing this for over 4-5 years. I discovered this by myself. Yet i would 'decompress it' by pulling. It 'pops' from neck spine and upper thorasic. I do other things for each side of the neck spine. Trust me its the best feeling in the world. I wont show anyone because it's dangerous. Doing these things i discovered is great for me and i feel great. Basically im my own chiro because i dont have one in China. I can show you how i do, but if you would give me credit ;)

This was the best one yet . Ive been in neck pain for 10 days , Ive been working through your videos , but last night , no matter what pillow configuration I tried , it hurt . I ended up sitting up all night . When I tried this one , my shoulders were so stiff , I had trouble locking my fingers and reaching across under my skull , so I wrapped a piece of water-pipe foam around a wooden spoon handle , and used that instead .[ I have C5 -C6 fused , and a left torn rotator cup ] . My side to side mobility increased right away , and the pain dropped off dramatically . I ment to do it longer , but it felt so good , I fell a sleep for 2 hrs .

Hi Lynnie, can I ask what your symptoms are and your diagnosis, if you’ve had one, as the past 6 weeks I’ve been getting digging/jabbing pain localised to one area on top of my scalp to the right, and it can start hurting for no reason. When I get the pain, I notice that the area is tender to touch too. I’m not getting pain anywhere else. Dr said it’s nerve pain but doesn’t know why, not really helpful, so I’m stressing every day as to what it is, and that’s not helping. Thanks.
