  • Is this the perfect Dogpacking bike set-up?
    In this video Mira and John give you a quick overview of their current world tour bike.
    Join Mira and John as they dogpack the Americas. Last summer they rode the GDMBR, The Oregon Timber Trail, Orogenisis, Wild West route, Baja Divide, Trans Mexico_Norte and many others.
    This year as the borders open they are riding south to towards the tip of South America.
    Special guests:
    ❖Welcome to OMNITIERRA ❖
    Mira (dog) and John (human) are bikepacking around the world. Together we are Dogpacking to all 7 continents (6 for Mira). Here you will find videos about bikepacking to familiar and remote parts of the globe, people and places, How to's and just being a dog.
    This is a new channel and we are learning how to tell our stories about the world we see. If you have an idea for something you would like to see here let me know in the comments.🙏

    Glorious,granular,gearhead,
    goodness! So your custom CARVER Ti is based off the design geometry of the Midtail, SALSA Blackborow cargo frame. Looking forward to more videos in this style sorta like Jay P Petervary does post ride bike checks with detailed gear and commentary overviews. Ride safe John. Happy New Year to you, Mira, and all.

    • @OmniTierra
      @OmniTierra  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Phil,
      It's too bad @salsacycle does produce the Blackborow. It was a great bike. Super steady handling in all conditions.
      Maybe they will bring it back once supply chain improves.
      If there is a taste for it we can get way more granular but this was just a quick lap of the main points

    • @PhiLeo7973
      @PhiLeo7973 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OmniTierra Yeah, I've known Salsa has it discontinued but you have done exactly what I had in mind, namely reproduce the geometry in Titanium. I'm thinking either Rohloff , Pinion, or Kindernay with Gates Carbon Drive(heavier duty EXP stainless Chainring and Cogs after I sell a kidney. As you have demonstrated, it would be a cargo bike with mad load carrying capacity near a Dummy, with greater agility and mobility. A dream bike versatile for anything from world tours with a dog, to an Apocalypse,lol. A SALSA Fargo Ti which can take a Rohloff might be somewhat of a relative budget option. Ever ride a Fargo John? Enjoyed listening to you on O'Shaughnessy's myback40 Podcast. How does the Pinion P18 compare to the Rohloff in your type of all- terrain World bike touring?. Be safe my brother,phil

Thanks for the solution on how to bring my 40 pound dog on a bike. I couldn't find that style crate anywhere until I saw this; bought 3 plus a heavy duty rear rack and will mount em on our 20" Dahon Vitesse D7HG folding bike! @@OmniTierra I have a couple p.18’s with i9 torch hubs. Marc from Gates said i should switch over to a 350. He shipped one to me. I was just in Colombia and the gear box failed. At first everyone was thinking it had to do with the rear hub. But the hub is fine. I have two of the same bikes so when i came back home i tried the second wheel on the bike and still had the same problem. Gear box is slipping. Co-Motion uses the i9 on all the bikes they build. But i think the DT Swiss 350 will be better in the long run.
