    I discovered your videos a couple of days ago and have watched this one twice, along with the trip to Vancouver Island, vegan restaurant tour of Edmonton, and shopping for vegan food. I found each one charming in their direct, uncluttered style. I really like the way you let the images speak for themselves, without too much chatter, telling the story of your journeys. The photography, choice of music, editing and your sense of humor-setting table aboard the ferry, carefully laying out your tablecloth and "silverware"-funny stuff.
    I've done a few group tours, never a solo, and your videos have made me think seriously about hitting the road, they're that compelling. I decided to comment before I watch another video, which I'm going to do next.
    Thank you so much for making these and inviting us to share your corner of the world. Keep up the good work, Jordan.

    I toured on Haida Gwaii around June 2022. Was quite then experience. I end up taking my bike along east beach to the cape ball river which was quite an experience. I unfortunately didn't go to Renell Sound as I was a little afraid of the bears. Which is a big regret. But, what an experience on the island. Was lovely to re live it a little again.
    Btw you got a super clear day in Rupert, mine was very rainy and I also had quite the vomit comet getting over to Queen Charlotte.

    • @JordanVegBike
      @JordanVegBike  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds like quite an adventure as well! Maybe in the future and if I get a fat tire bike I'd like to do that whole coastline, the river/water crossings seem quite dramatic, though.
      And yeah I got so incredibly lucky with the weather, especially for late September.

    • @Bg563
      @Bg563 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JordanVegBikeI did it with 2.5inch tires on my full suspension mtb bike, haha, with them deflated down to 20psi it worked really well as the beach is so well packed. You definitely don't need a fat bike, at least on Haida Gwaii. Although, the hike a bike to get to the beach was interesting.

    I enjoyed every minute of this. There is something beautiful about watching someone enjoy the things you love. I live in Prince Rupert and I ride that ferry to Port Hardy occasionally so it was fun watching you enjoy that sailing. In 2017 I rode my FatBike from Masset to Tlell on the beach. This was 2.5 days of beach riding over sand and rock and I saw almost no people. This beach touring ride was quite a memory for me and watching you on some of that beach brought back memories. On a side note ......riding through that salt water on the beach is really hard on brake callipers, the salt really eats them up. Keep on adventuring my friend and maybe I'll see you out there one day.

    • @back40canoe
      @back40canoe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ashleytheislander Yes you can cover a lot of ground on that beach on a bike! I used a Fat Bike but you could do it with narrower tires you would just need to stick to the firmer sand. I didn't do any video unfortunately but I have plenty of photos on my Flickr and Instagram

    I love this. I'm planning another Gulf islands cycle tour (I just do weekend tours and try to hit up a couple of islands each time) so I watched yours and then this. I've always wanted to go to Haida Gwaii but never thought of cycling it. Very inspiring! I was curious about why you biked late into the night instead of wild camping part way? Is it not permitted or just not respectful to camp along that road? I'd really want to break that long stretch up a bit! I'd love to see your full itinerary.

    • @JordanVegBike

      hey Ashley I am pretty similar to you, mostly only two nighters or so around the Gulf Islands. I definitely would recommend Haida Gwaii if you are looking for more of a stretch or challenge trip.
      And good question... it honestly didn't really occur to me? I was partly into the challenge of the night riding (it was actually pretty fun and any tension regarding bears or whatever was maybe a bit exaggerated for camera ;)

    • @JordanVegBike
      @JordanVegBike  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I got some tips that it would be a pretty unpleasant section of the ride. and unfortunately there is only one private company I found doing shuttles up to Port Hardy. The company is called Waving Flag (I think the owners are South African or something?). It's 4 hours and is $100 (+ tax, I think).

      aha good question! It was just me for the most part, though I did run into one person on the 2nd ferry who was hitchhiking. We ended up going to the cultural Centre museum on the first morning and then met up again for the 2nd and 3rd night where we camped on the northern Agate Beach campground.
      But also sometimes I say "we" like, me and you, the viewer or referring to myself as "we". Let me know if it's awkward or just confusing haha.
