Hello Rick, just a quick comment - timeline @ 2.57 you should correct the comment on the right hand side to Rotate on ''Right'' Heel ( not Left Heel ). Thanks for your very informative Driver guide. Sincerely, Brian

Played a round today after watching the complete guide irons, and the how to fix the slice videos. Took the info to the range, made the changes and played my best round ever. Birdie first hole out. Longest driver shot ever, followed by a 9 that I sat 3 ft from the pin. Still topped a few but overall HUGE improvement. You sir, are now my TH-cam golf instructor.

Great video. I am 78 years old and started playing golf last year. I was hitting ball all over the course. I used your tip using foot powder and keeping my shoulder behind the ball. I am striking the ball much better. Distance and. Accuracy improved immensely. Thank you

Just wanted to drop a note to let you know that this series has helped me improve so much. I took a 15 year hiatus from the sport and just returned. I had a lot of old bad habits that this helped immensely to correct. Now I'm having a good time on the course. Can't thank you enough!

Rick Shiels is an absolute GOAT when it comes to teaching. I am amazed how much better his videos have been than live golf lessons. Taking the lessons out to the course and having success requires work. But, the principles are solid. I will keep watching, practicing and improving this fun, complex game of golf. Thanks Rick.

Watched this video as my driving was atrocious. Nobody else advised what you did regarding keeping your shoulder tilted at ball impact. It's been transformational. Now hitting 230+ consistently. many thanks

Rick, I started golfing a year and a half ago. First game was atrocious but I was hooked. I’m consistently hitting high 80’s low 90’s now, have dipped down to 82 once, but haven’t been back there in a while lol. My driver is on some days and others I miss every fairway I play driver on. I have a tendency to suck my arms in on the downswing. I’m quite muscular and lack some flexibility, but it’s decent enough. Without trying to kill the ball im averaging around 115 club head speed with the driver and can bomb it on good days, bad days, I bomb it where I can’t find it! You and Peter have taught me golf since I started. Thank you for all you do for golf community.

This is the most thorough and simple steps to the driver follow through. Your visual aids and color paths are RIDICULOUSLY helpful for the average golfer to see. It's one thing to see the swing, but to see Color Swing Paths and Color Position Graphics Aids, helps to see to what minor adjustments look like in comparison to your somewhat standard golf swing. Excellent vocabulary choice on ALL 4 videos.
I'm an 8 handicapper, really trying to get to the Scratch level in this upcoming year or two.

Rick, thank you so much for this video. I was hitting driver well last year, but since my first round this spring, I’ve been snap hooking it and could not figure out why. This whole guide really helped, but the biggest thing was keeping my head back behind that vertical line in your video. I was trying to smash it and shifting my weight way too far forward. Thank you so much!

  • @teamperfect4130

Hey Rick. Game changing series! I'm a high handicapper who couldn't hit the driver no matter what I tried. Inevitably it stayed in the bag and I tee'd of with my 3 Hybrid. The graphics and the repitiion of the key points in the videos helped me visualise what I needed to do. I watched the series yesterday, went out to play today and smashed the driver down the middle of the fairway every hole! Cheers Mate!

Hi, I've watched these instruction videos several times and it made a big difference to my driving , greater accuracy and consistency. This said always thought it was missing something and could be improved. While at the range I changed one thing that brought everything together ,greater distance , a huge amount and straight . I was amazed and all I did was increase my tee size , I always used pink castle tee , I then tried orange castle tee more hight .at first I thought fluke but no it worked each time. I took it to the course and yes it worked . should have paid more attention to the tee hight section. Thanks Rick .

I used to play off 5 and gave golf a break for a few years. “Silly I know” coming back to it and irons aren’t too bad but spraying drive all over the place. These selection of videos has me back on the right path and hitting straighter with the odd blocking out on the right but that’s on me. Definitely feel better swinging this way and clearing my body to hit a sweeter ball. Cheers Rick

Absolutely correct about those sweet spots! Over 10 years ago, either Golf Magazine or Golf Digest ran an article where they showed (with colored overlays) where the driver sweet spot was for every manufacturer. ONLY the Titleist driver of that day had the sweet spot in the dead center of the face. EVERY other manufacturer's driver had their sweet spot slightly above center, slightly towards the toe.

  • @Peter-we8iw
    @Peter-we8iw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Excellent. Took me a long time to understand the downswing doesn't require lots of movement of body parts. Used to try to use too much lower body. As you show, all you need is to turn the body in the downswing while maintaining the spine angle. That gives the right weight transfer from the top of a loaded backswing.

Man I love your video's. Since watching your videos over the past couple of weeks I've had a few hours at the range and 1 round of play. Ultimately I lost about half the amount of balls i usually do due to straighter shots based off the tips you've given. I've noticed better hits at the range as well. Thanks for the content.

Hi Rick.. I have watched this series a million times. Driver is the only club I just can’t grasp. I had to add one swing thought to make it all happen. Exaggerated set up! 1) Tee the ball higher. 2) Swing like I am trying to hit the underside of the ball. 3) Switched from my 9 degree to the 10.5.
The 10.5 visually has a different feel. I feel like I understand the alignment. To hit the underside I have to come from the inside and I have to swing up. Teeing higher mentally gives me room to hit up. I don’t hit it as far but it is a great ball flight and it is in play. I can live with 240 rather than 280 if it is always in play.

Rick, you give super articulate instruction making the the golf swing easy to understand. Just one question: do you feel you are initiating the downswing with the hips and legs or does that naturally occur with right weight distribution and coil in the backswing? Not sure how articulate the question is but I think you understand what I getting at.

Hey Rick... this may be a dumb question but could you please explain the process in which the downswing or the “uncoiling” begins. Basically do i start my hip turn before my shoulder turn. Or when we shift the weight to the back foot and get to the top of the back swing do we start “uncoiling” with the hips firing first?? I understand the basics of the driver but was wondering if you could explain the weigh shifts and the “uncoiling” process within the driver swing. Thank you for the great content Rick and keep up the good work!
