      Wedges and putter should be your best clubs. The driver just needs to get you started. Pointless driving 300 yards if it takes you another 5 shots to get in the hole. But I see your point.

      Yup, this drive for show and putt for dough is rubbish. If you crank your driver into the woods, it will not matter how good a putter you are.

    OMG, so glad I stumbled upon this video. Been struggling with consistency with the big stick for much of the year. Went out to the range today and incorporated these new swing ideas. At first found them awkward, but after practicing the three drills, started hitting longer and straighter drives. Have subscribed to your TH-cam channel and looking forward to watching all your instructional videos. Hopefully it will help with other aspects of my game. 😊👍

    Plenty of good advice here. Keeping the back to target creates the space to drop the club so enabling a path from inside , giving better strike and ball flight. Change 1 thing to better 3 or 4! A la Warren Bennett. Great stuff!!

    Hi Mark. I've typically actively avoided instructional videos because I know my swing is horrendous but it has always worked for me (3 handicap),and I've always suspected that if it try to do it 'correctly' the wheels will come off. Funnily, though, I've just started working on the high hands drill myself. For years driving has been my strength, in spite of knowing it was based on poor fundamentals. I've gone waaaaay off the boil this year with it this year and I just can't get it back due to the poor technique... a case of better to be lucky than good, until that ran out. Back to the drawing board with some good fundamentals. Great video. wish me luck!

    i tried the back to target for longer feel & it did feel strange but actually helped me launch the ball
    It almost felt like it was going to end up in a mess but increased my chance of hitting a draw
    My course has 4 dog leg rights so I can simply stand a little taller & grip a little weaker. this allows for a fade without thinking about it
    draw has been difficult for me but its coming along. I have the MkI zx5 driver on the max closed position but may weaken this

    Mark, excellent video! I have been in a rut with my driver lately and started moving the ball way far forward in my stance, forward pressing my hands at setup, and a bunch of other odd behaviors to try and fix it. Back on track now!

    Any tips on distance to stand from ball with driver ?

  • @donaldmoir8748
    @donaldmoir8748 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wrist angles: Some assert that this will depend on stronger vs weaker grip. With stronger grip meaning that, at top of backswing, lead wrist might be somewhat more cupped, and weaker grip meaning lead wrist will be more neutral and perhaps bowed. Is this something you think about? Second -- because you don't mention it, I take it that on downswing the wrist angle works itself out on its own? (One of my issues is that I can have slight in-to-out swing path (1 or 2 degrees), but can't seem to find a way to close the driver clubface by impact (can be open by 5 degrees or more).) Thanks.

  • @Relancalm

    Was that Coach trying to sneak back in in the background around 10 mins??? My favourite club was always my putter, because I feel like I can practice at home and lo and behold I do ok with it! My driver has now become my favourite because I have a 'feel' I can rely on. on very few occasions I've strokes gained vs tour player!! It was my worst club but practice and understanding has resolved it. I am now now focussing on my irons, losing around 5-6 shots a round strokes gained vs scratch while playing off 4 is more than frustrating. One questions Mark, my driver is pretty straight and long for an amateur, but my Mevo+ tells me my spin is around 3200... which is way too high, could technique be behind this or equipment or both? Your videos are excellent by the way, my game is way better because of your output.

    @MarkCrossfield what you're describing at the top of the backswing, feels like its massively opening the face when I try it, as a a slicer, it feels very counterintuitive to do this as I'd have thoight it's more likely to encourage yet more slicing, or am i misreading that ?

    Interesting tip to keep your back to target for longer. This seems at odds with the pros who seem to have their shoulders and chest wide open to target by the time they strike the ball? Whereas we need to keep closed for longer? Is it just different strokes for different folks or have I understood it wrong?

    • @MarkCrossfield
      @MarkCrossfield  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Think of it this way.
      If you have a over the top move then back to target longer will help
      When you hit the ball you would want your chest open to target around 25 degrees.
      Good player patters show them keeping back to target longer than Ams on the downswing.

    Is it better to talk about knee cap position? If my feet are straight on, my knees are actually pointing inward, so my hips are completely locked, I need to flare out my feet a bit more than average so my knees are pointing straight on and more again on the front if I'm to have that knee pointing ahead of the ball. Not all bodies are created equal.

    @Mark Cros.. all good but don't agree on Low & Slow comparison for average golfers and pros. Pros don't need it - they are athletic, swing on plain with great core muscles to keep stability throughout the swing. Most Ams + 10hcp and above, when they are swinging quick or quicker, are all over the pace..with no control of body or clubhead
