The interviewer isn't a fan of GOT i am sure lol If he was really a BIG FAN, he wouldnt have interrupted the answer of possibly the best actor of the show
The fact of the matter is, it was a colossal mistake to adapt a book franchise that hasn’t even been finished yet, because there is a point where you know the source material has run out, storylines lose their depth and and characters start doing things that make no sense.
not even that, read the books and you can see D and D omitted important characters and events that by book 4 and 5 wouldve been important, the ressurection of catleyn stark, killing rob's wife in the red wedding, jeyne pool completely dissapearing. They replaced these important scenes with orignal content, in Rob's wife case they completely rewrote her entire story for no reason, so they couldnt have even adapted season 5 and onward faithfully even if they wanted to cos of how they wrote early seasons, it seems more and more obvious that D and D were mainly focused on having everything lead up to the red wedding and Tyrion's trial, things like having robb's wife die at the red wedding and not resurrecting catelyn stark feel intentionally decided to make the red wedding more tragic.
The thing is it didn’t have to be that way. If David and Dan had any sense of intellect, they could’ve learned from the nuance and depth the characters had and try their best to replicate it for the rest of the show. Especially when they know they will finish the series before George finishes the books. It had a chance to ofc not be as groundbreaking as the first few seasons, but still amazing television. But those nincompoops are only good adapting, not creating.
thing is the first books's release date is quite close like only one year apart so they probably thought by the time they finished the books the two books would already. but I so agree though they could've done like 3 to 4 more seasons if they didn't cut off characters in the books
