      This is why we need to talk about men's health to women. Today's young women need to realize that the whole world doesn't revolve around them. As men, we have health issues too. And if these young females want to have healthy relationships with men, then they need to respect our feelings, as well as be sympathetic to the problems that we, as men, go through. As an ice-breaker, maybe you should get your female friends to watch this video. It just presents the facts, even though in an animated way. It is high time that women became aware that sexism and societal stereotypes hurt men too. Therefore, if these females that you speak of respond scornfully, then you know which ones to weed out of your life. Therefore, we should be thankful for this video.

      @@sinisterevil7308 Yeah, this also drives me mad. It seens that there are two ideas of why men are suffering more:
      Men arent taking seriously in their low points, and the segregationists one, that men are treated like boys and arent disciplined anymore.
      What do you think of the second one?
      For me, it is denial, during my whole life and media consuming, I never saw men treated like boys. What I saw was constant worry and comunication over women problems while men are casted aside, "because their lives are better", "because men are stronger, they have to suffer isolated in the dark".
      It feels to me that feminism is causing a lot of harm to men, and those who dare to speak, spread these segregationist redpill bulshit.
      It is sad.

    Mental strength isn't pushing forward no matter how much it hurts; that's Stoicism, and not everyone can handle being a stoic all the time.
    Mentally, strength is admitting that you can't handle it all by yourself sometimes; that you need someone to lean on, and that you can't always be the one others depend on at all times. It took me 21 years to finally realize that and I'm still not there yet.
    If you can afford it, or have it insured, get a good therapist, one who cares and will listen to what you have to say. It's not for everyone, but just being able to talk to someone about the hell you've been put through is leagues better than bottling it up.

    • @vinnydesteur9051
      @vinnydesteur9051 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think you misunderstood stoicism. Stoicism is not about not having emotions, but about controling them. They believe there is a place and time for showing your emotions, but not when you have a duty to fullfill. Stoicism says that is ok to ask for help. I believe if more men where to learn to stoic values they would be stronger, more driving, more in control of themself, more courages, more happy. They would be the great men who womens and society need and admire to the fullest.

      @superfalconpunch2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vinnydesteur9051 Ooh, a well thought out response! These are rare, but I enjoy them thoroughly.
      I personally don't practice stoicism in any major capacity; I prefer to be more vocal about what's bothering me, since if nobody speaks up, nothing will change. In short; I'm not a stoic, so it's understandable if I'm incorrect.
      That said, I wasn't that saying stoicism was not having emotions, I was saying that it involves hiding your own pain and feelings and such from the public eye (so to speak). It's not possible for the vast majority of men - and humanity in general - to completely avoid feeling emotions altogether, and I would never claim that it was. I believe my definition was just off in general on what it means to be a stoic.

      Hahaha great first paragraph.
      Yes you are right that stoicism involves hidding your feeling, but only with the goal of mastering them. I believe hiding them from the public whilst feeling them is a valuable skill when have a duty (family,job,..) to fulfill Yet i agree with you if they are never or to little expressed to others (you trust) it becomes dangers.
      I must also admit that i ( a 20 year old) struglle with feeling of loneliness and suicidal thougths (for 4 year now) and find it hard to express those feelings to friends and family. I slowly become better it and that is partialy thanks to stoic values (mainly courage). Then again i agree with you that if interpreted wrongly (especially combined with their vieuw on death) it can do more harm than good.
      I believe we agree on the most that now has been said, and the few things we don't makes it cool and interesting.

If your bf or whoever gets emotional with you and shows his vulnerable side you might like it the first time but if he gets the impression he can rely on you for emotional support every time he feels destroyed you will slowly but surely lose attraction for him and eventually you'll break up with him. If its just a male friend same applies except instead of a break up youll just lose more and more respect for him and he will start to feel like an annoyance to you. I appreciate your effort in the moment to show support cause it seems like you want to be a good person at least right now but your nature will take over or maybe not it depends if you become self aware of it and learn to ignore it

    One of the best things a man can do for his mental health is learn when and how to say "No" to the women in his life. Men have been trained that a woman's feelings are always more important than his - e.g., "happy wife, happy life." A better saying is "rational spouse, happy house." (Hat Tip to Dennis Prager)

We see the hypocrites out there saying "I wish I had a man that showed more emotions" then about-faces with "lol, pussy man showing emotions" when they get exactly what they ask for. We all have issues but the way we're all treated it's not like we don't even matter. Stay strong kings, and if someone insults you for having issues that you're seeking genuine help for? As an ice-breaker, maybe you should get your female friends to watch this video. It just presents the facts, even though in an animated way. It is high time that women became aware that sexism and societal stereotypes hurt men too. It's not that we find it funny. It's hard to validate and take individuals seriously when they use their "mental health" as an excuse to hurt you. And honestly, the men that treat me well are often cared for and listened to. But the men who have destroyed my psyche in some way often get deliberately invalidated and mocked because they are hyprocites if they feel hurt but hurt other people.

    It's all very well saying "don't ignore it", and "men need to talk about it, don't bottle it up" - but largely that requires a partners support and empathy - two qualities I've found sadly lacking in my long term partners.
    Being a man feels very much like being treated like a resource, a utility - to be used up until you are spent and then discarded. We deal with our shit alone because we *have* to, the best thing you can do really is cultivate and maintain relationships with male friends, these enduring friendships will provide strong shoulder to carry you when you need them, and good listeners to hear you when youre overwhelmed - in return you do the same for those guys when *they* stumble.
    That's the only way this works for men - because there's very little else outside of our own friendship groups other than a society desperate to tell us how "toxic" we are and how we should be ashamed to be men (but you best keep "providing" till your back breaks all the same).
    Look after each other out there guys.

    People keep saying that the really strong men are the ones who are open about their problems and dare to be vulnerable. Unfortunately being open and vulnerable carries a very real and very high cost; the loss of social status. If you can't afford that loss, being open just makes things worse.
    I think this is inseparable from the issue of sex and romantic partnership. It's well established that being alone and feeling unattractive is extremely detrimental to men's mental health, and unfortunately, having poor mental health makes you less attractive. It really doesn't matter how much the idealists say that seeking help isn't weakness, the truth remains that if you can't handle life without help, you are by definition weaker than the people who can, and weakness is not attractive. As long as humans reproduce sexually, and women are the reproductive bottleneck, the only way this will change is if women as a group develop an attraction to men who are less able to deal with the struggles of life.
    That will never happen.

    Talking about it doesn't help. It's a feminized approach, talking about it to someone who pretends to care can even make things worse.

    that ideology of "BE A MAN , PROTECT AND PROVIDE FOR OTHERS" doesnt make sense and its stupidly exaggerated , at the end of the day we are still humans with limits and breaking points , from time to time a man should be able to seek help if needed

    Honestly, this video means nothing to me. When I see these sentiments carry over into the real world in a way that actually amounts to something, then and only then will it mean a goddamn thing.
