you know as a christian biologist I feel so much consolation when watching Turek's videos it is like my mind and soul are being hugged and I know it is the Holy Spirit's work. God bless you!
@Mavors And even if Darwinian evolution was evident in biology, that does not take away the need for a first cause. I saw you asked, “Better question, which god is the first cause?” If you sincerely want an answer and it’s not a rhetorical question, you can find a whole bunch of other videos about this. Mike Winger has content on it, Jon McCray, Frank even, Cameron Bertuzzi, David Wood, William Lane Craig, and so many more. Again, if you genuinely want an answer then I highly recommend giving this livestream a go: “One effective way to show people God really exists” by Mike Winger. He’s a very reasonable guy, I think you’ll like him even though you might not agree with all of his conclusions. The video is a collaboration with his friend who’s also a great person.

i would add a 7th blind man .. which would be a atheist whos 1 feet infront of the elephant. who grabs nothing but air and says .. there is a absolutley nothing to grab! right before he gets run over by the elephant :D
Why does the ATHEIST get run over? AND what are you afraid of. That you are wrong??? The truth hurts at first but like getting baptised, once you get used to the water it's ok.even really nice if you've been in the deluded/phsychotic world of religion.
Στέφανος סטיבן yea but they say he’s not the lord and savior and isn’t the son of god. Which is the purpose of Islam to destroy the true teachings. All these religions are designed to manipulate the truth. Judaism has it half right but they refuse to recognize Jesus as their messiah. Christianity was manipulated by pagans, Catholicism was manipulated by the romans and the rest are basically pagan religions.
@@TheFerrarimovement True. Paul Rock said that christianity is the only faith with a virgin birth. But that is not true because in the islam they also belief in the virgin birth of Jesus. That is the point of my comment.
@Yusuf Karim You’re prophet Had sex with a 9 prepubescent girl , had so many sex slaves , gave permission to his followers to beat their wives (same goes to him ) , broke an oath, murdered hundreds of Jews , Spreading His False religion by terror etc. And yet he is called the Beautiful pattern of conduct in the Quran , Pfft I spit at your Prophets Face.
@@gottruth.1722 Not to mention he was a white dude, who owned and traded black slaves and sex slaves. He also thought that he was demon possessed after the violent encounter with a demon (oh, sorry, “angel”), which led him to attempt suicide on multiple occasions. He went to his wife with that information and she said, “no, you’re not demon possessed. You’re a messenger of God!” So I partially blame his wife for all of the death and destruction and subjugation this religion has brought about. And this is all in Islam’s most trusted sources, including the Qur’an. So how come Muslims aren’t familiar with that? Deception coming from leaders, and almost willful ignorance from the people. It’s a devastating thing.
I once said to an atheist "if you're claiming atheism is true then isn't the burden of proof now on you?" The look of confusion on his face was priceless...
I once encountered an athiest that said the bible was written hundreds of years after Jesus. I was the first one to enlighten him that the last book was written 60 years after Jesus was crucified. He didn't know that and was shocked.
If a book about leprechauns was written 60 _minutes_ after someone claimed to see a leprechaun, would that make it truth? The problem isn't when the Bible was written. The problem is we don't have good reason to believe the Bible's core claims, like that a god exists.
This has been verified by most of mainstream scholarship, even secular sources. The early church fathers quote scripture in over 500 personal statements dating back to the early 2nd century. This is not disputed by anyone who's done their homework. Stop with the "prove it" nonsense. It's been confirmed for a very long time.
Thank you Frank! I think I've (literally) came back to watch this video at least three separate times. Each additional time (after the 1st) I've picked up a nugget or two that I missed the first time. BTW, I find your teachings and videos extremely insightful :)
Same. But I noticed Frank seemingly has a VERY limited, flawed, biased understanding of spiritual teachings from the East. Christ ain’t bad. He’s against lies & so I had to confront them with truth. Jesus said love thy ENEMY, but I’m not against Jesus, and Jesus said he who isn’t against us is FOR us. Earth would be better if people strived for a more full/accurate understanding of the Bible and other scriptures. Crucial examples: Although the Vedas were written over 5,000 years ago & known well before that, all major religions/major sciences stemmed from Vedas. Buddha, Christ, increased sin etc. were 1st predicted in Vedas. Vedas are the source of the oldest histories, all our math, learning other planetary systems, Relativity, etc. It also gave the socio-economic system that dominated/thrived all over (the spiritual, merit based Varna system) BEFORE it (as predicted) was corrupted into a birth-based caste system. Some of the Bible is WORD FOR WORD COPIED from Vedic verses. ALL life was respected with compassion (killing animals were allowed in rare, unavoidable situations, especially with minimal suffering to the animal, like in the story of the Great Flood, which was 1st mentioned in Vedas, I don’t think non-flesh food was an option). Vedic teachings share the same core teachings as the Bible (like having 1 supreme personal God) but because Vedas are so detailed & allow variations for people who are less good/truthful, it ALSO mentions God with his impersonal energy aspect (Brahman) and many “Gods” (AKA angels) and hell (AKA place of Hades). “Christians” deleted, among other things, Jesus’ life from age 12-30 from the Bible, (probably) because he went to learn Vedic Science. His miracles are similar to Lord Krishna’s miracles, and Jesus said he and is father are 1 (in quality). Jesus said “my father is greater than I” and Krishna AKA Vishnu says he’s the father of all. Jesus was originally called Jesus OF the Christ, and Christ in Greek is Christos, which is another name for Krishna. Jesus said he was the only way in the present tense. Sinners in the Old Testament, babies born dead, etc. were saved without him, as were souls who reached God's eternal Kingdom AKA Krishna-Loka by repenting to Lord Krishna. ALL KNOWLEDGE originates from God’s Vedas. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh". The person Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man.
I understand that there are comparative religion/mysticism degrees where people actually DO dedicate their lives to study academically that all of the major world religions do teach the same core principles, though they may not be saying it the same way, the same language, or using the same metaphors. One of my closest friends is one of them. That doesn't mean all PEOPLE in each religion teach the same thing. In each religion, there is disagreements about what is true, and different sects of people interpret and teach each religion differently (think about the differences in the actions of the many versions of Christianity, for example). I do not believe that everything that everyone believes in all religions is true, as there are traumatized and mislead people in every religion, however I do believe that all religions share common core truths, and that no religion is entirely ignorant. I am inclusive to learning from the wisdom of all religions.
Religion is man made, religion is not the supernatural being or deity. We can argue religion all day long and not get anywhere because religion is generated by man. God is not the religion and is far greater than man’s expression of faith or belief. God is the object of man’s faith and belief. God will exist whether man worships Him or doesn’t worship Him. God will still have created the universe and created man even if man fails to acknowledge that or worship Him. God is.
You're who this lecture was for. Because you're wrong. And with the tiniest bit of actual research you'd see that. They do not teach basically the same thing and anyone telling you that is LYING TO YOU. They're doing what YOURE DOING WITH THIS COMMENT. VIRTUE SIGNALING. And your pfp explains your stance. Not everything is equal and not everything is good or bad. Islam and Christianity are not basically the same. Nowhere in the Bible does Jesus tell people force then to convert and if they don't, force them to pay a tax. And if they don't, kill them. That seems like a freaking pretty drastic difference. But it definitely says that in the quran.
Yes and if I say I believe in God...and you claim he doesn't exist. Is it not on you to prove that to me? I'm not asking you to believe in God but you're claiming my belief is false because God does not exist. So YOU are making the CLAIM. Edit: Not meaning you in particular just to those that try to use this argument when coming to Christian videos.
@Legendary Force You're the one CLAIMing it isn't true. Where's YOUR proof? And Absence of Evidence is not Evidence of Absence that's circular reasoning and illogical.
@sean pittaway Hell is meant for sinners....not just because someone doesn't believe. We all have issues. We all have problems...we all do wrong things. God paid the price for those wrongs for us. It's your choice to accept His sacrifice or pay your own way.
For the apologetic groups I really appreciate what you are doing,I will be happy if you know deeply about the Ethiopian orthodox tewahdo church our church were worshipping Jesus and have the full Bible before catholic and Protestant churches come to existence!!!
Turek’s videos are amazing and I love the intellectual integrity he brings to all his discussions. He’s one of the very few apologist, IMHO, that attempts to do this consistently. I also appreciate the parable or metaphor of the elephant, the blind men and truth. However, I would add that truth is much more then a feeling, which is what makes it truth. The analogy is flawed in that it attempts to apply an assessment of actual physical recognition with a concept or assessment of actual truth. There is only one truth and that is Christ, period. To attempt to express the fullness of this through an analogy of accurate physical assessment trivializes the sacredness of truth. Truth is a person/being and it’s perfect expression is Christ, much more then a feeling!
1. All religions teach an approach to ultimate reality within their mystical practices. 2.I have studied various religions experientially and conceptually. 3. I find significant overlap among the deepest practicioners claims within Sufism, Christianty,Vedanta, Kashmir Shavism, Judaism,Tibetan Buddhism and Dzog-chen moraly, experiencially and cosmicly...
I've heard the elephant with the blind men story used to prove other things. This is the first time I've heard it for comparing religions. If someone used this comparing religions we could say that the parable teller( God ) removed our blindfolds or blindness and then yes we would see the one true way which is Jesus
except in terms of different religions, it isn't 6 blind men. It is 6 sighted intelligent men with all their faculties coming to different conclusions. That would indicate that none of them are true.

All religions are true for the people who believe in them. They are like the spokes of a wheel that all connect at the same hub-- only you have to follow those spokes to their ends to find it. You can start at different places and go in different directions, but they all lead to the same center if you follow them far enough. If you get hung up on any literal interpretation of their symbols, however, they become obstacles, not roads, to enlightenment.
3:06 Such a wrong example "For you to say that No that's not a fan, not a rope not a spear etc etc you would have to know what it is". Suppose I know what an apple is. My friend comes to me telling this fruit(which is not an apple and I don't know what it is) is an apple. Now I don't know what that fruit is but I definitely know it's not an apple. What he said earlier made sense but this example didn't fit that context.
All religions are the same since they offer up literal stories without literal proof. Suddenly a 7th man walks up and says, "You're all wrong that's Ganesha."
It's true that there is no absolute truth that is absolutely the truth. But, that can't be true that there is no absolute truth for the very statement itself is one of absolute truth saying there is no absolute truth. The apologists say it much better than I could. I'm surprised Dr. Turek didn't pull that one out; probably only apply it to moral relativism rather than religious pluralism and religious syncretism.
They may have the burden, but my experience is that they will only scoff and move along-and repeat the same claim again to those who, seeking excuses and not truth, all clap like seals.
Did I miss something? By the end of the video he had not explained why Christianity has a view of the whole picture whereas the other religions don't, so it goes back to each religion believing it has the truth.
The point of the video is people believe slogans rather than actually exercising of faith in a supernatural entity, deity or being. His example was “ all religions teach the same things “ that’s a slogan designed to justify not believing or expressing a faith in a supernatural entity, deity or being. Now Judaism , Christianity and Islam are monotheistic religions but they exercise their faith in a different way. They have very similar objective morality but they still differ. Judaism and Islam claim Abraham as their ancestor. Christianity takes that into consideration but says Jesus is God in the flesh and is therefore greater than Abraham who waited on the promise of God to send Jesus. You wouldn’t know that if you didn’t do some study and comparisons of their tenants or doctrines. I am just using these three religions as examples of different views of the same elephant.
My belief is only God is true. Judaism, Christianity and Islam adhere to this truth there is only ONE GOD. The three great religions of the world have this in common the belief that there is only ONE GOD.
I think the point of the "blind men and the elephant" is that the only way to get fully to truth, being that we're all blind in someway, is to stop and talk to others who have a different view to you :)
The same regarding slogans can be said for Christians. Most don't actually have a clue regarding context, theological questions, apologetics, etc. They take what they've been told over the pulpit as truth and don't look into it for themselves. So both sides need to do their own thinking and research.
I remember learning about the blind men and the elephant in Sunday school, and it had nothing to do with world religions. I think we all have a problem in that we latch onto someone whose personality we like and accept what they say as fact without confirming it for ourselves. This goes for atheists and Christians. When it is counter to something we've been taught and it sounds like it makes sense, we assume that other people will be just as persuaded by it as we were.
Casey Lee The reason I asked the question is because you made the accusation that people are indoctrinated, yet you don't include yourself in "the indoctrinated." You should think seriously about why you believe what you believe. Why should a millions of different god beliefs cause me to question whether there is a God or not? You can pick up a scientific journal and find multiple theories concerning what gravity is, but that doesn't give you a reason to say that gravity doesn't exist. You say that you are an atheist because there is no evidence for God. But my dear sir, there is evidence for God. Faith without evidence would be stupidity. But the reason many people choose to be atheists is because they don't want there to be a God. Often, people are angry with God because something has happened in their life that they think God should have prevented.
In the elephant story, with all men blindfolded, they might not be able to know it's an elephant. But given the properties they all feel, they might make out it's not a 'glass of wine'. And given they all feel different properties, it would be a fair assumption to think none of them are right (still without knowing the answer). And then the blind men all started claiming they could see... still contradicting eachother. If the analogy says anything on religions: it's that it's likely they are all wrong and just claiming thruths where they have none.
Without starting up another discussion on wheter the entire peer-review-system is somehow 'biased'... I am glad you agree this whole story is meaningless and all that matters is the evidence.
The elephant analogy is pretty laughable considering you wouldn't access 1/10th of a subject and determine what it is. Any logical observer would proceed to analyze the rest until they have the full picture.
Reality, whatever it is, does not conform itself to what we think or believe. It is, what it is, whether we like it or not. This applies just as much to religious ideologies as it does to anything else. Truth (God or no God) is, what it is, regardless of what we individually choose to think it is. We can all have our own opinion as to what we think it is, but that does not make the truth (God or no God) to be what we believe it to be. Multiple mutually exclusive explanations of what we think truth is could in fact all be wrong, but they cannot all be true in the same way as the same time. The only ligament explanation of truth is the one that matches reality. This ideology that all roads lead to the truth despite the fact that all of the roads go in different directions is logically incoherent.
When one establishes a relationship with God through believing (trusting) the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) they KNOW that God is real because they have a relationship with him.
@ says: *and what form does that relationship take? How does God interact with you?* It's kinda of hard to explain, but I'll do the best I can with it. God interacts with me though a type of intuition, when I ask about something in prayer I get a direct knowing of it without having to reason it out. He also confirms things for me if I reason something out for myself correctly and once I acquire that confirmation I know that what I reasoned out for myself is true. I also feel guided to do or not do something sometimes though my emotions which I used to repress before I got saved which might be the reason way God has chosen to guide me with them sometimes. The latest experience of such a thing probably avoided me from getting fired from my job, so I'm glad that I took heed of it instead of blowing it off which is something I would've done in the past. Also I end up interacting with God simply by experiencing my life because God is the source of all life...he's there to comfort me as well whenever I need it. I have never felt that things are just going to be okay as much as I have since getting saved and establishing my relationship with God.
Lastly, at 9:00, Dr. Turek says "You don't have the obligation to refute what somebody else says, they have the burden of proof to support what they've just said." So true! BUT, when atheists ask theists to prove THEIR claims, they can't and don't. They get angry, talk about faith, Hell, etc...and the discussion is over. Been there, got the T-shirt collection.
@@berenc7619 very true. I experienced it for myself and until one does, you won't understand how you can just know.... I was NOT looking for God. I have to make that clear. God found me..

"Orthodox Islam", as you call it, is not what you say it is. The terrorists are not following the Quran, their not following the teachings of Mohammed. The terrorists, if they have any real claim to being Islamic, are following a corrupted teaching about the Quran. I have a lot of problems with what has been said, this guy never proves that Christianity is the ultimate right religion, him referring Quran is downright racist, because history has multiple examples of millions of people being slaughtered after reading Holy Bible, so the problem is not in Quran. The problem is in peoples’ interpretation. I myself was born to a Christian family, and then I found my path in one of the branches of Hinduism and I am actually very happy and I am sure this is my path. I’m not claiming to have the ultimate right answer to the matter of having many religions in this World, but my current theory is that there are many people in the world they all have different propensities. Many of them are on different levels of development, and thus they need a different approach for their spiritual growth and development. My biggest problem with Christianity is a concept of eternal hell or eternal heaven after passing just one life exam, that is downright unfair. When it comes to Islam, this religion doesn’t even try to hide it that it is trying to perpetuate fear in people, so they teach that you have to fear God and because of that fear you’ll be good, I mean, if God‘s will is that this religion exists then probably there is a group of people that wouldn’t do good deeds, unless they would believe that they would be rewarded and they would avoid doing bad things out of fear of punishment. The list goes on.
Everyone knows there is a God because God has made it plain to us from the creation of the world. Therefore we are without excuse. God created us to have a relationship with him. The problem is sin. Sin separates us from God because God cannot look on wickedness with favor. So if we die in our sins, we will REMAIN separated from God forever! That's what makes hell hell. God is not there and all good things come from God! The question is how can we have a relationship with the creator and satisfy the justice of God. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived the sinless life and went to the cross to receive the wrath of God in OUR place and paid for OUR sins. He died for OUR sins. Then 3 days later, God raised him from the dead! Repent(acknowledge your guilt before God) and believe the good news and be reconciled to the creator. God will not reject a humble and broken heart.
alex williams wait if everyone knows there's a God then why don't I know it? Why don't you know it?? How would anyone know it? Man is without excuse? Really. Then why are so many people unconvinced?? "God has shown to mankind that he exists thru creation" umm that sounds like an opinion. I don't see life as evidence of a creator.. I just don't see it. Bible must be wrong. Wonder what else it got wrong 🤔
alex williams why not? Isn't that how you guys think God came into existence? Oh wait you don't think he had a beginning... aaaah yes because THAT makes the most sense LOL
Its a logical fallacy to suggest that God requires a beginning. Logic actually requires that the initial cause of everything is uncaused itself; the eternal source of all life. Otherwise you have an unending chain of causes.. "Sin is a man-made concept" How did you personally come to this conclusion?
I do not understand why preachers ask for donations. Why don't they read their book ! It quite clearly says sell everything and give to the poor. Preachers already have their reward. They don't need your money.
They ask for donations to heat or cool the church. Makes life a little more bearable... Do you heat or air condition your car... or do you sit in the car or house sweltering on a summer day?
Preaching is a business evolving from religion. Many preachers have private jets now. Islam is poised to take over Christianity as the world's biggest religion. Christianity is fighting to retain the top spot, as Islam is fighting to take it. Many innocents have died, and will die because of this.
The point of the parable is that the blind people could've figured out that it's an elephant had they collaborated, but all of them were convinced that only their point of view is correct and that of the others was incorrect without exception. The narrator is correct because he sees the issue through the eyes of all of the blind people (figuratively). In general, it's true that people see different sides of the same issue and they all have some part of the truth, but the problem is that people tend to be convinced that only their point of view is valid.
This is the actually the primary problem with “truth” claims made by religions. They can only compare their different beliefs. There’s still no method by which it can be established that one is more true than the other, much less an “absolute” truth claim. Christianity can’t even agree with itself.
@@andricusthegreat2068 muslims say bible is incorrect and corrupt. But the Quran says the the torah/bible is true. Frank implied that one can take the blindfold off to gain an objective vantage point of the whole elephant, but never bothered to address the process of removing it. Outside of the parable, what does "removing the blindfold" look like in real life? What actions does this map to? Certainly deciding to believe in Christianity can't be the act of removing the blindfold because no justification was provided to go with Christianity over Islam or Buddhism. That only serves as justification for those who already believe in Christianity to begin with. This video clip is pointless and addresses nothing.

@ZAPGAMERZit.. it literally was though
This has been verified by most of mainstream scholarship, even secular sources. The early church fathers quote scripture in over 500 personal statements dating back to the early 2nd century. Crucial examples:
Although the Vedas were written over 5,000 years ago & known well before that, all major religions/major sciences stemmed from Vedas.

And the person is essentially saying they're than religious people. They pretty much think the religious believes a lie but they know the real truth.

I am still waiting!
I'm Christian and I agree!
Agrid
I remember learning about the blind men and the elephant in Sunday school, and it had nothing to do with world religions. I think we all have a problem in that we latch onto someone whose personality we like and accept what they say as fact without confirming it for ourselves. This goes for atheists and Christians. When it is counter to something we've been taught and it sounds like it makes sense, we assume that other people will be just as persuaded by it as we were.
I agree. That's why being skeptical is a really good thing.
Which is why one needs intelligence. Unfortunately it's lacking in majority of people especially in atheists.
Casey Lee Out of curiosity, what did your parents and teachers teach you about God?
Casey Lee I have no idea what "the same as most Christians" means. What I really want to know is, where did your atheist ideas come from?
Possibly. But that's why we do science (which is evidence for Divine Intelligence) to figure out which religion knows that it's the "elephant."
Without starting up another discussion on wheter the entire peer-review-system is somehow 'biased'...
I am glad you agree this whole story is meaningless and all that matters is the evidence.
+Joe Richmond Science is NOT evidence for divine intelligence...where did you pull that one from?
The elephant analogy is pretty laughable considering you wouldn't access 1/10th of a subject and determine what it is. Any logical observer would proceed to analyze the rest until they have the full picture.
I Certainly Hope So!
Near Death Experiences Say YES!
What religion are true after know death
How does God interact with you?*
It's kinda of hard to explain, but I'll do the best I can with it.
My opinion agrees with this, they are all partially right as every religion has something with some evidence behind it
Lastly, at 9:00, Dr.

===> if anyone else claims to be the promised Messiah, it's just lying. Because Lord Jesus is the promised Messiah.

No, that is not what my logic told you. That's what you pulled from it. If I'm not making a claim for your friend's "alien god", I don't need to prove it. So you're basically agnostic, no? The eternal skeptic. Staying "open-minded" being skeptical of everything except your own skepticism...I think this is an epistemological problem...because people say they'd believe if they would see sufficient evidence, which can be problematic in itself...if I may ask, what kind of evidence would change your mind?

I being a muslim really like your videos answering atheists with science and logic, but when it comes to muslims and islam you are a straight hypocrite, you'd rather side with pagans then with the only religion that loves jesus apart from christians, a man of wisdom like you should avoid subjects that promote hatred as you are telling your people that islam is as horrific as satanism pretty low for you. it's not the real version of prophet muhammad and quran which you are preaching it's the altered version created by media to fit in their narrative, a few mercenaries' like taliban or isis don't define Islamic values rather they go against, just like hitler did not preach love your neighbour did he ? or world wars or invasion of most of the world by christians don't reflect love your neighbours, or hindus killing muslims in india, jews killing muslims in Israel why you skipped them ? you take islam as a strong opponent so you are more likely to hate it than other religions, if you really loved jesus you'd love those who love him. in order to know islam and prophet muhammad search both from neutral sources not sources easy to fit in your narrative, bible contains same language as of quran when it comes to war, research is better than spreading baseless accusations and hatred.
👏👏👏👏 well said
I have a lot of problems with what has been said, this guy never proves that Christianity is the ultimate right religion, him referring Quran is downright racist, because history has multiple examples of millions of people being slaughtered after reading Holy Bible, so the problem is not in Quran.
Thank you Frank great video
