    A lot of these are the childhood memories for me too, school lunches. The tiny teddies are best when you put lots in your mouth to make a thick chocolate paste. And everyone always goes on about tim tams. but mint slices are so much better!

      Yep mostly kids lunch box items, not things I was given personally but from the 80s & 90s. I was hoping someone else mentioned that. 😁
      I guess they would still be lunch box items now considering they're still around?

    You need to try the Italian cioccolata. There is a popular brand that is sold in packets called Ciobar, but I usually do it from scratch. For the amount of milk you had in your cups you need about 2-3 heaped teaspoons of cocoa powder (unsweetened), a couple tablespoons of starch (potato, corn, whatever), a pinch of salt and as much sugar as you want. I often also add a couple squares of milk or dark chocolate, as it gives the drink a nice shine. Place all of the dry ingredients in a saucepan, stir to combine, then add the cold milk a bit at a time, first creating a paste and then thinning it out to prevent the formation of lumps. When all of the milk has been added, move to a low fire and stir continously until it comes to the boil. The more you boil it, the more the mixture thickens, I usually pour mine after a minute since it started boiling. You can also make it with rice milk (or soy milk, but I do not like soy milk) if you don't do milk, but it will be a bit thinner. And you can spice it up with whatever works well with chocolate: candied orange peel or simply the zest of an orange, a bit of chilly, a few mint leaves, black pepper, cinnamon...

      In Australia we call that Italian hot chocolate. :) I once engineered a version based on stevia :)

    By the way, Samboys are nowhere near the most popular chips brand in Australia, that honor goes to Smith's Chips.
    I actually hate Samboys, especially the BBQ ones, never liked the flavor of them and honestly I don't see how other people can like them.

      Smith's or Red Rock Deli I think. If you want good basic, Smith's, if you want more "gourmet" then Red Rock Deli :)

      @lmaree200886 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amber C I've had both (am Aussie), the mint cream is softer and not as minty as the York peppermint patty and the chocolate biscuit on the bottom is crunchier than the GS cookie. The dark chocolate is better too! We actually have our own Peppermint Patty made by Nestle here in Aus!

    Mint slices are the absolute best at a camp fire, hold them to the flame to melt the chocolate, then lick, then again hold to flame, lick, flame, lick, until all that is left is the biscuit as the mint cream melts too. Then just gobble that biscuit.

    These products are pretty minor brand, I don't even know half these products and have been living in Australia since 1999. Most of these brands are barely known and you're not guaranteed to find them everywhere. I definitely wouldn't call these quintessential Australian, it's more like, hey, try this new brand of something (in the US).
