i have a 77 ford f-150, not my daily driver. i have owned for 19 years. i needed to replace my front brake pads. your video was very helpful. the bearing, etc. appreciate you posting.
The sheer number of times I have come back to this video for reference is a testament to the quality of the information, the thoroughness of the presentation, and the inability of my brain to store anything.
You seem very knowledgeable in all the work that you do.I have watched many of your videos and have used them to refresh my memory of this type of work that I did when I was younger. They have been very useful. One thing I don't understand is that when you go to all the trouble to take something apart to repair it is why you don't fully clean all the parts and then repaint them. I do this whenever I repair anything. I believe that it provides protection from rust and the elements, it allows you to see if new leaks or something is moving more clearly, it demonstrates workmanship and pride in a a job well done. It also just looks good. Just an opinion but I would enjoy them much better if you did those things. Thanks.
Really awesome video! Changing out my front brakes and rotors for the first time by myself today. I feel a lot more confident going into the project having watched this video. Really appreciate it!

Looking at the calipers, a bolt on upgrade you may not know about is using 75-78 t-bird calipers the piston is 3/8" bigger which gives you oh most the same square inches as the dual piston 3/4 ton calipers. The only difference is the bolt that holds the brake hose on is bigger , but easy to buy. The T-bird uses a screw on hose apposed to the bolt on hose as the stock truck uses so those have to be bought separate. I know this works on the 4 wheel drive 1/2 ton trucks from this era so I would double check if 2 wheel and 4 wheel use the same calipers. Other wise if not never mind.
I do my own brakes on my 70 Z28 and still can’t believe how 2 copper washers when tight and jammed that they produce a leak proof connection. Well done video.

DO NOT spin them with an air hose, very dangerous, they may come apart, OK to use air to clean/ dry them, just don't let them spin when doing it. Oh, another thing, put some black on the arms.
Been trying to put new brake hoses on front disk on 75 f 100,can't get the lip on the hose to fit the caliper. Any ideas, said on the video to us 2 washers I'm afraid that will leak.
I just put new rotors, calipers and pads, bearings on the ‘74 f100. Everything went together nicely. Until I drove the slide & tensioning springing in place. Now the pads are pressed tightly against the rotor and the rotors won’t move. Any ideas?
I've got a 68 and for some reason it shows the king pin is different from 75 to 79 and if I run across those years do I have to change the whole beam out with spindles
Great instructions in this video. I am doing the Granada disc brake swap in my 65 Mustang and it is a very similar spindle/caliper set-up. Would you have the torque spec for that one Allen bolt you were missing on the caliper retaining clip? Thanks.
I can't find a spec on the Key Retainer Bolt. Can't be much though (I'd say around 11 ftlbs MAYBE), pop a little purple or blue thread locker on it and you should be good to go.

Question. I have done this and had to redo it a few times because there is a horrendous scraping coming from my front passenger wheel area only when the wheel is spinning. I have redone the bearings many times, replaced every brake items. I always notice when I put the spring and retainer in, that after it's all tightened down I cannot get the rotor to spin well, it is super tough to spin. But if I take the retainer and spring out it spins well. I'm not sure what to do

Ford used that system a LOT from 1968 to the late '70s and maybe beyond.
I may have the Bendix part number for that retaining bolt. I’ll look when I get back into the shop in a few minutes.
