  • It is said that anger is grief’s bodyguard.
There are times when things happen that we are unable to process in the moment. We may not possess the tools to deal with pain that is overwhelming. We may find ourselves completely undone and yet life presses forward so we bury the hurt inside of us.
These feelings don’t just go away. Like an uncleaned wound, they fester often becoming infected. We don’t see this process taking place simply because the pain is internal. We may then wonder why we fly off the handle or become enraged for no apparent reason.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver is considered the master architect of our lives. When in balance, we feel confident to express growth. Like the branches of a tree reaching upward towards the light of the sun, we too, feel capable of expressing our dearest plans and dreams. Like a tree, our roots stabilise us when they are healthy and strong. We are able to draw up life sustaining nourishment, ensuring our health and vitality.
What was your family life like? Was it an encouraging, balanced, centered environment or was it riddled with instability? Did you feel loved and accepted or small and unappreciated? Were your dreams encouraged or was it anticipated that you would honour plans laid out for you?
Children do not have the ability to walk away from painful or difficult situations. A troublesome home life can thwart our efforts to cultivate dreams and bring them to fruition. One of the greatest frustrations one may experience is feeling that they do not have the capacity to create the life they really want to live or feel inclined towards.
When we work to stabilise the liver energy (Qi) through movement, breath and intention, we can help to release the stagnation of unhealed emotions. This can assist us to gently unwind patterns geared towards angry outbursts, aggravation, aggression and bitterness which assists in restoring a sense of inner peace and calm.
Qigong is a potent complimentary medicine. When we understand the mind/body connection, we can often heal deep trauma and rigidly entrenched patterns through diet, awareness and movement.
You are far more powerful than you may realise. Sometimes, just a few minutes a day of conscious movement and breathing can help to release painful patterns in a gentle yet profound way offering us liberation and optimism.
Enjoy this practice! Feel free to reach out and let me know what you'd like help with or if you'd like me to share these practices with you, your workplace, retreat centre, alternative health clinic or school. Sessions can be held in person or online.
    With Love,
    Shawna

Thank you. Wow the rolling shoulders suggestion really works ! Plus breathing. Just subscribed to your channel ! Excellent ! Rolling head around, hearing neck muscles crackle, helps for me :)
