I think the reason the dipstick is twisted is because the 6.7 diesel motor has a deeper pan. Not making different length sticks just twisting the gas engine ones for shallower pans.
Over filling Oil Pan Does Not Increase Any Crankcase Pressure. Crankcase pressure comes from Pistons Returning to BDC with what ever Combustion Gasses got past Rings (PCV Valve Should evacuate these Gasses). Over Filling Oil Pan can cause Crankshaft Counter Weights to travel through high oil level causing aeration or air pockets in Oil. They can get drawn into Oil Pick Up -- enter Oil Passages and cause Oil Starvation in Critical areas of Oil System.
I have never had any issues with K&N. Rough idling and MAF issues means you have way too much oil on the filter. That can be easily avoided. I go very light on the oil and then use a clean rag to absorb any oil on the filter after it sits for 15 mins. Even when you purchase them new in the wrapper they come over oiled sometimes. You have to absorb it away with a clean rag fore and aft. Never just drop it in and go. Letting it "dry" does nothing to the amount of oil applied, you still have the same amount of oil on there that you started with 2 weeks later. Thanks for watching!
From my experience of using these K&N filters for 15 years, this is not necessary. If you think it is then there is too much oil on the filter for sure. The cotton filter material wicks very quickly and saturates within 15 mins.

Interesting...Thanks for sharing!

I have the same exact truck as you. How tall is your lift? Also what brand is it?
3.5" Ready lift kit...Thanks for watching!
What size lift is on the truck? Brand?
Hi Garrett, its a 3.5" Readylift leveling/lift kit. Lifts the front up 3.5", rear come up 1". Thanks for watching!
The oiled filter is not the best one to use it messed up my mass air flow sensor and caused rough idling

I even let it dry over night when i applied the oil

John Franco i would spray the oil on both sides then let any extra oil to drain out then put it back in the next day.
also, best filters are the motorcraft. Cheaper and available at every walmart. You are also supposed to use 5w20
Thanks for watching!
Ford changed the oil recommendation from 5w20 to 5w30 starting with the 2016 model.
k&n snake oil. The oil will contaminate your mass airflow sensor.
Do not over oil..i have never had such issue. Thanks for watching!
I just stay with the stock air filter.
Stock filter is lame and way too restrictive.
I know K&N advertise their filters having better airflow, but how do you increase airflow by having a film of oil on your filter media?
@@lugnut6981 nah. stock filter is just fine. On a stock truck it's MORE than adequate.
