As a long distance truck driver, I see crazies like that nearly every day. As a former driver/trainer, Phil, you definitely had a defensive posture. Covering the brake when you spot a potential problem, often prevents being involved in the problem. At the very least, it keeps Ruby's completion looking good!

I wish I had a dollar for every near-miss we've had being cut in front of. It gotten a lot worse in the past 10 years. Why I call a dash cam a must. I swapped our air horns for train horns. I've cause many an underwear change. LOL We love overnighting at casinos. Some of the best food we've ate on the road were at them.

This is why I use a dash camera. It would not have changed the event but in the case he did hit you, you would have proof of what happened. Love your channel.

I have had a few cars that cut me off. Unfortunately my semi did not stop and tapped the truck. Luckily no one hurt but the vehicle did get banged up. All caught on dashcam so no mistake who is at fault. I was blamed at first but vehicle cited after we watched dash cam. Looks as the rv will stop faster then the semis. Stay safe out there! God bless.

It's probably too late, but if you're going to Lee Vining, don't miss the Epic Cafe. Great food and atmosphere.
We also stayed in Coursegold when we visited Yosemite.
Phil, strengthen your core and you will never have back issues again. I had a debilitating ruptured disc in 1988, L-5 S-1. The Chiropractor said that he would not have any patients if they exercised for core strength. I've been exercising ever since and have not had anymore back issues. It's hard to exercise on the road, especially as busy as you guys are, but you need to make the time to take care of yourself.

Happens more than you know. We started traveling at late night to avoid the "crazies". Even to leave camping resort for home at 3-4 AM to avoid the heavy traffic areas as this seems to bring on even for more crazy drivers. Truck and 5th wheel all ready to go night before, sleep, lock up and pull out without disturbing neighbors.

We've had one or two close calls like that - it's gotten to the point that I start to feel queasy when certain vehicles pass me, and they have been the ones to do stunts like that. I honestly think some of them think they are being cute about it and don't know how impossible it would be for us to stop if something was to happen, and I've seen some of them do the same exact thing to 18 wheelers. Normally I'm too busy trying to react and regain my cushion to be able to hit my air horns on those vehicles, so you did good, Phil.

Hey guys, just happen to think, I remember my wife (Physical Therapist) told me of a natural product good for joint pain and inflammation. DMSO is the name. It works pretty well if there is inflammation for sure. The response time is very quick. I use it a lot for my back. Try to find a Roll-On if possible. Aloe Vera is added to reduce irritation. Health/wellness stores generally carry it. As well as Amazon. Make sure your hands are clean and the area to be treated, because it goes in the skin quick. If you buy it pure, dilute it some with a small amount of water. Of course the label will only say so much, if at all what it’s for because of FDA requirements for natural products. It really is a life saver for me when I experience a flare up.

Are you driving through Yosemite to Lee Vinning?
Hmmm.....based upon your mention of the heat, probably still reservations required for Yosemite day use.
Use of Lee Vinning as base to explore the area is good planning. Many many places to experience with an easy maximum hour drive any direction. Take the jeep to Saddlebag Lake, Virginia Lake, June Lake area, Bodie, and more!!

I was stationed at NAS Lemoore, CA. in 1980 - 1983 and Coalinga, Ca was 45 mins away that we traveled to the closest Wal-Mart back then. Go Navy...

I'm glad you didn't get that crazy truck driver upside down later on the road!
I'm glad to hear about Oakhurst - I go up I-5 or Hwy 99 often and haven't been through Yosemite in my rig yet. Good to know a staging area, and Harvest Host, too!

Welcome to California land of I don’t care and get out of my way. I drove rigs there for 15 years and that was a daily occurrence. Glad your safe, keep your head on a swivel and enjoy Yosemite. We are headed to Coronado in December for a month , we enjoyed your visit to San Diego.

Been there with near miss. So un-nerving. Great job getting out our there.

We have had several near misses on the interstate and they are never fun! Danny said that he and Phil must have taken the same evasive driving course. LOL can't believe that place actually had a airport for people to land their planes in. I mean RVs are one thing, planes are a total different thing! LOL another great video. Lynn and Danny

We spent many overnights at the Harris Ranch Inn when traveling between Southern and Northern California back in those days. Always a great stay! Feel better! G

Glad you used your expert skills to avoid these crazy drivers. This happens to us on occasions they are so close we cant believe we didn’t get hit. Still watch you two just haven’t been leaving comments. Sorry! Be safe out there guys. 👍❤️👏🥑🇺🇸

Glad you avoided contact. Hitting the horns is a mute point because they have no sense of what you are blowing about. Sad the way some people drive. Everyone have good luck and safe travels.

It’s been quite a while since we’ve been in that area. Nice to hear that the food is still good at Harris Ranch.
