    FYI there is parking available in Winslow AZ at I-40 exit 253 by McDonalds and a Safeway grocery store across the street. It is a dirt lot with some deep holes so be carful. A lot of truckers use it because the truck stop fills up quick.

    Phil, one word .. Starlink. It's not "mobile" yet. But it IS movable. meaning when you're stationary, speeds around 270/20 off with ~40ms ... is a game changer.

      @sfcdale 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am waiting till starlink is out of beta and they will sell me Dishey McFlat face.
      I will of course to try it mobile. But the rub is going to be you need an open sky some where around 160 ish degrees facing north. I think it will be much more useful in the Open planes in the West then the tree covered east.

    G'day from OZ.....the land down under. I love your guys channel. I have just retired and I'm living in my 24ft van that I purchased when I retired. I am living in it in a van park. People keep asking when are you going to hit the road....well I have a Hyundai all 4 door hatch....so that means my car could not pull the skin off a custard. If I ever meet Mr right that may change. But I just want to share that living in a van is the best. No lawns to mow. No repaint...etc etc...like I said you guys give great advice. Re. Small Cracker Barrel lots. Last February we stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Covington, LA that ended up having a small lot. There was an Academy Sports next to it with a nice roomy parking lot. I asked the manager there if it would be OK for us to overnight in his lot and he gave us the green light. We had dinner at Cracker Barrel and stopped into the Academy after where I picked up a light jacket I needed. Sure appreciated their hospitality!

    Even in my regular truck (I don't have a rig yet), I can only drive a maximum of 4 or 5 hours in a day, and 5 is really pushing it. By that time, I'm needing a nap, fighting highway hypnosis, and needing to pull over for the night. I've always been that way; need frequent breaks of 20+ minutes besides. As I get older, it's getting worse; I wouldn't like to drive more than 3 hours in one day now. I don't see how you guys, or those long-haul truckers do it!
    (I hope they reimbursed you for your discount since the problem was a glitch on their end!)

    Just in case some don’t know… Since Walmart & SAM’s Club has cut out a lot of Over-Night stays I had a hard time in 2020 traveling with work especially with almost all the KOA’s closed. I found out by accident that Cabela’s & Bass Pro have “Welcome RV’s” signs up in all of their parking lots and some had direction of where to park so that you don’t interfere with deliveries or customers. It really saved me in one hand, but since I went inside several times it cost me since I Just Had to Buy something! LoL

    Thanks for the video and everything you do for our Veterans! Hubby is a Vietnam Veteran and he is a retired DOD employee and I retired from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. We got the Military Living 2021 RV, Camping travel guide after you showed it on one of your videos. We usually just check the military website but this gives us more details in one place. Our favorite Military RV campground so far is Blue Angels Recreation Area in Pensacola, FL. We didn't think we could stay on military bases because Hubby was just in the army 3 years but because he retired after 32 years with the Department of Defense that made him eligible. We found that out from a couple we ran into while in Alaska so we got to stay on base in Anchorage and in Seward Alaska. He has a retired DOD badge so we had ID. Hope we run across you two some day. Maybe at Gunterhill COE in Alabama.

There are so many people that refuse to do that courtesy to businesses, thinking that they are somehow entitled to park on someone else's property without permission. This will potentially ruin this great opportunity for RV's.

    I use a TSD fuel card. It is usually more options if traveling on an interstate. That gives you more options for fuel savings. I don’t have much savings at Loves. If your not careful you will pay more with the discount there than what it cost you across the street. I do like the savings though, I have saved 60 cents a gallon before. It all helps. Be safe!

      @@todayissomeday Thanks for letting me know where that Walmart is located. No, it wasn't a medical retirement for our son. I should have said military separation, but I'm not always up on the terminology. He just got tired of all of the politics. His other reason was that he wanted to be able to be near his paternal grandparents, ages 91 and 93, who are both in a nursing home in a small town in SE Montana near where he was raised. He was really close to both of them growing up there.

    As the mother of an Army soldier, I’m so happy we did so well for those veterans.
    She’s an MP and about a month ago she made Sargent! I’m so proud of her! She’s stationed in Germany and she’ll be here on leave for the whole month of August. I can’t wait!!!!!

    Have you had any problems stopping in Sam’s Clubs or Cracker Barrel’s or other? I guess being former Law Enforcement, but I usually can’t sleep because I’m constantly worried about someone trying to break into my storage units or vehicle. Just curious if you or folks you know have actually had any of those problems.

    I just got done watching all your videos. Love you guys and you showed me so much about RVING through your videos that I have to say thank you. Now I have a question. I retire July 27, which is also my 50th birthday. We have been planning on getting a RV for the passed year and I have done a lot of research and know what Class A I want. We should be picking it up mid August. Do you think October 1 is realistic for us to start our travels or should we have more prep time before we hit the road? Yes this question is from an Army Veteran, sorry I wasn’t in the Navy, but I scored to high on the test. Just kidding! But if you could answer the question anyway and always thank you both for your service.

      Thanks David. Congrats on retirement in 2 days!! If you take a few shakedown trips and learn the RV, then you should be good to go. If not that comfortable, then take smaller trips, hit parks that have full hook ups and go from SLOW. YOU control everything about it.......besides, retired folks ar supposed to go slower! Go NAVY!

    I really enjoy watching your adventure and the tips you show about your travels. I just retired after 49 years and we plan to buy an RV soon. Trying to figure out what we want. Thanks for your videos.

      We said the same thing......but we had to ba in the back of the store, not in front like most Walmarts.

    My tpms's made my valve stems leak air going down the road, they were the rubber ones, we stopped in Barstow had all of them replaced with steel valve stems, over year now, no problems, you may check this out if you keep having trouble...

    What does the blue tee shirt say?

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure which one......one says, Shiner Beer Run (from when I had good knees), one says, Same Trailer Different Park, one says, Drink Local. Didn't even notice that I had on more than one blue shirt in the video.

      I can't find out your names... but she has a blue shirt at 6:46 and we are just curious... Congrats on your successful fund raiser for your veterans. We most enjoy the ones that show places and travel, and looking forward to being a nomad soon. Just painted the "nomad monster" this week... would send you a picture but can't see a way to do that. Thanks.

    Phil, Coco's Bakery at 360 W Forest Meadows St, Flagstaff, AZ 86001 has some of the best pies and cakes (non-keto). I don't know about the ice cream.
