The electric-assist bicycles are truly the way to go. I've been 10 miles out, turned around , and realized I'd be facing a head-wind all the way back. Without that 48V assist I'd have really struggled . One time, I saw a big, black squall coming, so I turned around , using electric assist to whiz back to the camper at 25mph, beating the bad storm by a couple minutes.
Wow, your Gas price amazed me! That's Really good if you ask me for that rig, JS The camp ground membership's are awesome as well, that's so good to know, I so appreciate you guys for sharing and keeping such awesome records / budget! I'm loving your life
So the BIG QUESTION!! How much did TH-cam income offset the $25K annual expenses?? Congratulations on 125K. Still growing at great pace. Love your content.
I used to binge watch Blue Bloods. Now I binge watch You Me and the RV videos!!! Every single one is so chock-full of valuable information and I learn so much from you!!! I’m still pretty new and greatly appreciate all that you share.♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for sharing this information so willingly. I can only imagine all the negative comments you guys get by sharing this level of detail. 14 more months until I leave my COJ and join you all on the road! The information on your channel has beena great resource to help us prepare. Thanks again!!
Great breakdown for the costs. This helps as I work on what my budget might look like. As a planner I get really apprehensive about staying in places where I cannot lock down a reservation. But, it seems that is where I can really keep costs down.
Yes that is true! I am a reformed planner. I would freak out if I didnt have a reservation weeks out. But we always land somewhere. We are never homeless just houseless!
Thanks for sharing your journey and the transparency. I've been following you and several other Full-Time RVers for several years as I dream of getting to where you are. When I first got the full-timer bug, I quickly got overwhelmed with the costs. Videos like yours help me to see that it IS doable and I CAN get there.
Thank you so much for going over your costs for last year. It will certainly help us plan our trips knowing some costs you had. This video took me back to the first budget/costs video you posted.
We love your channel!! Just bought out RV end of April. Donna is retiring end of July!! Woo Hoo!!!! Heading to Maine in August. Keep up the great work. Thanks so much. Ron and Donna
Incredible breakdown. We bought a Tiffin Allegro 32SA last year and are 3 years away from full timing and I would never take the leap of faith with out you guys. A million thanks, and I’m using your codes for a bunch of stuff.
Phil & Stacy, as always, the information is helpful and it's fun to review the year with you and seeing video clips from the previous 12 months. It would be interesting to take your annual cost of RVing and compare that to the annual cost of brick and mortar. Much like RVing, it would vary from person to person but when you consider a mortgage payment, property taxes, insurance, utilities, dining/entertainment, etc. my guess is that, in some ways, RVing is less expensive. Again, many variables in that comparison but I think many people think they could never afford to live the RV life but in reality it might be a break-even and/or less expensive than brick and mortar. Y'all are awesome...enjoy the journey!
I would say that it is cheaper than a brick and mortar. Especially, if you buy a cheaper RV that you can pay off. The biggest part of our expenses is the RV payment. Everyone should have an RV repair/maintenance fund established before hitting the road, because much like owning a house......things happen that need to be fixed. With the things you mentioned in your post that you have to pay for each month......RVing doesn't have that aspect of monthly bills. If we would eat in more, we would save a ton more.....but when you are in a new area, new food styles, out exploring, it is just so much easier to grab something while out.
Thank y’all so much for breaking down the camping costs the way that you did! We’ve been struggling to try and get our costs down because of places being booked and campgrounds continuing to raise rates 😔 We are going to start looking for Army Corp sites as we start to head west from Michigan.
We hit the road, not to full time , but to travel around the US. We learned alot, gas prices really hit us in the face, 2 don't get blogged down, spending to much time in one place. Traveling the southern states heat hit us hard, and the lax of humidity( and I-10 sucks), and like the person your with,,,, when you get tired, hungry, and frustrated, can be rough. After 8000 miles we went home, still trying to recover.
Hahahaha thanks for being so truthful. It's good you found out. It's not for everyone. I would rather do part time and keep my home. And those ARE the realities of it
Thankyou for all the great information! It is so helpful to see how much it will cost! We've been planning for over a year, and it is a little stressful, so all your video's have been great! You need to make it out to Oregon, you'll love it!
Love your channel even though I plan to boondock mostly. With 3 Labrador retrievers, parking in crowded RV parks isn't enjoyable for me at all. Wish it was. This lifestyle is so diverse!
That’s encouraging me to just do it! I’m a solo traveler who would boondock a lot so my costs could be even lower. I’d be traveling in a Class B+ or a truck camper and either would be gasoline fueled. I’m a Senior and a Veteran so I may be able to save a bit there too. Thanks for your continuing educational and enjoyable videos.
Due to where we live, our sticks and bricks budget is more than twice what yours is...one of the reasons we are looking forward to full timing and getting out of the "house" we are in....and ours is a "cheap" one in our area! LOL! After reviewing several different people's budgets we are looking forward to being on the road even more. Happy Father's Day Phil!
Wow three years congrats on that! We've been with you since the beginning and just approaching our six month full time mark. Thanks for the journey and setting us on ours.
Love you guys channel. Used your boondockers welcome coupon today. By September we will be fulltime. Would love to be able to meet you sometime. My dad was USN, WW 2 and Korea, USS NEW ORLEANS AND LSMR 401 in Korea Be safe.
We have been full-timing for 3 years and 2020 was our most expensive too! We normally are Roadtrippers rarely staying more than a night or two in a spot. In 2020 we spent 9 months in 3 RV parks partly due to COVID and partly prepping mother’s house for sale and staying near new grandson on opposite sides of the country. Why don’t you include food/alcohol? We save alot by mostly cooking especially in 2020. You should incorporate your purchases at Harvest Hosts either in food or under lodging. We love HHs and have stayed with over 50 hosts but it is not Free. We maintain our Passport America membership even though with us static we didn’t use it as much in 2020. Two things you didn’t mention is how much RV camping fees have increased. Places that we have stayed at multiple times over 3 years have significantly raised their rates by 30-50%. Also fuel prices were significantly lower with everybody driving less. Thanks for your detailed breakdown!
We have a COE access pass. We love COE campgrounds. $10 a night electric only. $13 full hookups. It cant be beat. Same day reservations are available as well.
ARG! I just joined RV life and Harvest Host at FULL PRICE because of your recommendations. But I didn’t realize you had discount codes! Oh well, still worth every penny.
Your no nonsense presentation is appreciated. The news seems to bad for r.v.ers. I'm ready to retire to fulltime after years of planning. Subscribing to camping web sites would certainly affect my budget.
Just recently found you guys! We are an AD Army family and we are planning to full time at my husbands next duty station until retirement at least (maybe a year or three LOL). And I was floored when you said you volunteered at Stephen C Foster SP! We just stayed there last month! (We are stationed in GA) What a small world and even smaller military. I’m definitely going to look into the COE parks! Hopefully we will see y’all on the road! God bless y’all! ❤️
Ok so I might get flack but i don't find that total excessive. Your fuel costs will go up this year which might force you to stay more nights then planned but if planned you will still be in an affordable position. I would really like to know what marina that was. Their were a lot of house boats so I hope it's a big lake. Nice job breaking it all out for us.... Thank you!!
To keep your tanks clean and fresh smelling thy this. Black tank cleaning After dumping the black tank and refilling it 1/3 with water 2-3 times to rinse it out follow these steps to an odor free black tank. Add 1-2 Gallons of water in the toilet. Next add 1/2 cup of Borax Soap in the toilet and flush. Borax has water softeners and provides oxidation (by way of the reaction of water and Borax soap which creates Hydrogen peroxide for oxidation) that will break down solids and particulates. Next add 1/4 cup of Dawn soap in the toilet and then flush the toilet. (don't be cheap use Dawn as it works the best.) Now you are done and will have an odor free black tank without using harmful bleach in your system. All done till your next black tank dump. Grey tank cleaning, Same as blank but also add 2 cups of Zep citrus orange cleaner as the last step. This and the Dawn helps break gown fats and oils from skin and whatever oils are left over on dishes, pots and pans while adding a fresh scent.
Girl that orange is your color!!!!! You should wear that more often! Also please tell me you are wearing a halo or hair extensions to get your hair to look so full and amazing. You get that in an RV - I can't get that look ever! Love the channel! PS you look good to Phil.
I think it's important to remind people that you don't have a sticks and bricks, so your expenses are for your "house" as you have it. With that in mind, considering utilities and all the other living expenses, then adding in the ability to see the country and enjoy life to the fullest that you can, your expenses are actually pretty low. You have to choose how you want to do it - do you want to sit in the desert and watch the dust form, or do you want to be able to see and enjoy the land around us.
"We never tried it for two" (in the shower). First thought I had was, 'There's the Squid!' Thanks for the info, and like you I love and look for Military FamCamps and Nat'l/State/Local parks first when we go on the road. I'm guessing you have Tricare for Life or the VA did your surgery. Between Tricare and my (when I retire) Union health insurance I should be good once we hit the road.
Thanks for sharing your annual expenses again. $25k is less than I thought you’d have spent. Considering 2 1/2 months at the $1200 per month campground, we’d say you did really well. We paid for the lifetime membership with Passport America. It was more than $300 and we wish we hadn’t done it. We’ve never been able to use it. Places we’ve tried have told us we couldn’t use it for the nights of the week we wanted. Too many undisclosed restrictions.
That final number makes me feel very comfortable! Thanks If you guys are able to do this for $2100 a month. I KNOW we can afford to do it on our expected retirement income for as much or less!🥰👍
Thank you for all you do. You have helped me become an experienced camper. I am hoping to convince my husband to try this for a year and this really helps.
Really appreciate the yearly expense breakdowns. I'm currently in the process of purchasing my 1st class A. Ironically Letchworth will be my first test run as I live 5 minutes from Niagara Falls. So lucky to live near such spectacular beauty and looking for more in the coming years. Hope to see 👀you guys on the road in the future. Best of luck. 👍👍
Always love your enthusiasm and positive attitude. You can see the happiness all over your faces. Thanks for sharing friends and stay safe on your travels. Mel & Nette 👍👏❤️🇺🇸🥑
Love you two. I need to do a spreadsheet although we are not full-time. It's our first year to be gone for 3 months or so. We aren't back home yet and when we are it doesn't mean we are staying. We don't have any memberships and this year was all about family time. Keep it real. 😉
Thanks for the update! Good Info. Passport America is an interesting discount. There are some of the worst, and also, some of best campgrounds in that program. I am surprised to hear that you don't use it more. Would still love to hear what you spend for an entire year on all expenses. We are all curious what the total cost to live on the road is.....
Love Letchworth! We live less than an hour from the park. We're creating a spot on our property for Boondockers Welcome. We plan to be FT in 5 years. Thanks for all of the great info in your videos!
I love watching your channel because you don't take forever to get to the point, very informative, definitely ur not lame, there are so many channels that I've seen and after even 10 seconds I go to another channel because there so annoying and fake. But you guys are awesome.
I wish you guys would include food, clothing and the like, except for the RV. These are costs everyone has, and yes I know they can vary, but it is a starting point. That said ,it looks like the wife and I will be just fine on our Social Security and not have to even use any of our investment income, except for that trip to Hawaii I promised her 10 or 15 years ago. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
This was so informational guys we are just starting this journey and have been following you guys for the last year and half. Resulting in buying our Tiffin 35 and loving ever minute of it. Thank you for the great info on memberships! We needed those. Blessings to y’all hope to meet y’all some day!
Great video of breakdown, we have been full time this year… we missed you guys at antelope canyon marina and RV park… almost in the same spot in the campground around the 4th of July
Thanks so much for this info. We have been weighing doing a van tour and visiting relatives. Nice to know all the options available. Thanks. Your videos make my day.
Budget, Budget and Budget is a must in RV style living. It’s always great to wing it time to time, but need the stay up on your Budget. Saving where you can is a must to survive each year. Gas and Diesel is to high to keep traveling nonstop. Taking your time is a must to have everything balance out.
I wish you the best in your travels this next year, but I have heard that some states are doubling state park camping fees this year and you will be competing with a lot more campers as well since everyone is tired of being cooped up at home and want to get out.
Just found your channel. Great stuff as my wife and I are considering selling our 3400 s/f Victorian of 20+ years, and doing full time RV living and travel vlogging.
Is the rv life trip wizard you mentioned a map program? I am looking for something to take the place of google maps that I can personalize to my motorhome specifications. Do you have a recommendation? Also that shirt color looks great on you. I love to watch your videos...straightforward and honest info.
RV Trip Wizard is a route planning tool. You can input your RV dimensions in it so that it know what roads you can and can't go down. Thanks for the support with the channel.
Just started following you and watching your videos. Great content, love them!! I am wondering how you track all your expenses so specifically. Is there a program you use, or a spreadsheet, etc?
It looks like you are an O-4 in your intro video and I take it that is your son? Congratulations! I don't know if you retired at that or went to O-5 but I retired as an O-4 with 20 so you know my budget. The budget is the single biggest factor for us and with the way fuel continues to spiral out of control, I don't know if full time RVing is doable anymore.
Definitely haven't been to NJ or NY much . Our tolls here in the East for one weekend trip in our 41' Berkshire XL towing a car trailer, can be 100 or more
Imho, just over $2,000 per month is good. I realize it doesn’t include food, entertainment, etc., but just the same, I think it’s reasonable. Good job and thank you for going through your numbers!
I am a military brat I’ve been above with RVs all of my life I’ve been through a whole Lotta Star Wars during my life I want to put you guys to the test
The electric-assist bicycles are truly the way to go. I've been 10 miles out, turned around , and realized I'd be facing a head-wind all the way back. One time, I saw a big, black squall coming, so I turned around , using electric assist to whiz back to the camper at 25mph, beating the bad storm by a couple minutes.
We just got some and I agree they're wonderful. Pedal assist half to a third of the price of totally electric
Curious: do y'all like the fat tire configuration? I'm used to a regular dirt/street bike and wonder about the feel.
"That’s right!" 😆 You both are an inspiration and I appreciate the amount of time and energy you put into these videos for us! ❤️
Our pleasure!
Wow, your Gas price amazed me! That's Really good if you ask me for that rig, JS
The camp ground membership's are awesome as well, that's so good to know, I so appreciate you guys for sharing and keeping such awesome records / budget! I'm loving your life

So the BIG QUESTION!! How much did TH-cam income offset the $25K annual expenses?? Congratulations on 125K. Still growing at great pace. Love your content.
The TH-cam income doesn't compare to the military retirement pay.

Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for going over your costs for last year. It will certainly help us plan our trips knowing some costs you had. This video took me back to the first budget/costs video you posted.
Hey commander! You and the skipper did a great job! Yes, THAT’S RIGHT!!!!
Fuel costs are going to kill our budget this year! Already doubled our fuel price a month..
We love your channel!! Just bought out RV end of April. Donna is retiring end of July!! Woo Hoo!!!! Heading to Maine in August.
Keep up the great work. Thanks so much.

Chassis maintenance is huge. I worked in heavy truck repair for 7 years.
Wow three years congrats on that! We've been with you since the beginning and just approaching our six month full time mark. Thanks for the journey and setting us on ours.

Be safe.
Wanted to do full time, but I think I have changed my mind. Seems like it wouldn’t be as fun.
We spent more in tolls last week round trip from Chicago to Watkins Glen NY! Safe travels
Illinois tolls are rough!
We have been full-timing for 3 years and 2020 was our most expensive too! We normally are Roadtrippers rarely staying more than a night or two in a spot. Another stellar video. Your videos just keep getting better and better. Bravo Zulu!

Sorry you missed those! Bummer.
I sure am glad Lola and I have a RR Annuity or we be back in North Carolina setting on the porch watching cars go by. Like this life style better.
We to too!!
Your no nonsense presentation is appreciated. The news seems to bad for r.v.ers. I'm ready to retire to fulltime after years of planning. Subscribing to camping web sites would certainly affect my budget.

To keep your tanks clean and fresh smelling thy this.
Black tank cleaning
After dumping the black tank and refilling it 1/3 with water 2-3 times to rinse it out follow these steps to an odor free black tank.
(don't be cheap use Dawn as it works the best.)
Now you are done and will have an odor free black tank without using harmful bleach in your system. All done till your next black tank dump.
Grey tank cleaning,
Same as blank but also add
2 cups of Zep citrus orange cleaner as the last step.
This and the Dawn helps break gown fats and oils from skin and whatever oils are left over on dishes, pots and pans while adding a fresh scent.
We use the Borax/dawn method already.
The amount of work you put into each of your videos is so appreciated 🥰Safe Travels ❤
Thank you so much!
Girl that orange is your color!!!!! You should wear that more often! Also please tell me you are wearing a halo or hair extensions to get your hair to look so full and amazing. You get that in an RV - I can't get that look ever! Love the channel! PS you look good to Phil.

We have TriCare Select only. I have done nothing through the VA.
You guys have some really nice videos of the places you stayed, that really helps.
Thanks for sharing your annual expenses again. $25k is less than I thought you’d have spent. Considering 2 1/2 months at the $1200 per month campground, we’d say you did really well. If you guys are able to do this for $2100 a month. I KNOW we can afford to do it on our expected retirement income for as much or less!🥰👍

Aside from our RV payment, groceries and eating out.....this was pretty much what we spent for the year.
Thank you, I always find these helpful as we are planning our full-time adventure now.
I love hearing your stories, guys! Thanks for being real and detailed. I'm also glad to see my full-time budget isn't too different!
Our pleasure!
Love Letchworth! We live less than an hour from the park. We're creating a spot on our property for Boondockers Welcome. We plan to be FT in 5 years. Thanks for all of the great info in your videos!
That is awesome!
Thank you so much for this information I cannot wait to meet up with you guys on the road somewhere. Thomyt
Let’s hope for a great year! Thanks for the information.
Thank you guys!!! Great info!!! Planning out our full time adventure…this helps out tremendously. Thank you and safe travels!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Thanks for good information, hope to get out there more this year! Hugs to you both!
You two are so much fun to watch. Getting my You Me and the RV fix on. Also, Thank You. for your service. YOU GUYS ROCK!
Awesome! Thank you!
This was so informational guys we are just starting this journey and have been following you guys for the last year and half. Resulting in buying our Tiffin 35 and loving ever minute of it. Thank you for the great info on memberships! We needed those. Blessings to y’all hope to meet y’all some day!
Awesome! CONGRATS on your TIffin!!
Thank You, Stacy and Phil! We both just retired and starting our journey and this is valuable information!
Danny and Lynn
Awesome video as always!
Great video of breakdown, we have been full time this year… we missed you guys at antelope canyon marina and RV park… almost in the same spot in the campground around the 4th of July
We loved it there!
Thank you guys for so much info. It’s greatly appreciated. 👍🏽😀
Sing it with us Stacy, "O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A". Excellent vlog as always, just a gentle jab on the spelling at 12:34.
Dang it!! My spell checker failed me!! I am the worst speller on the planet!
@@todayissomeday It gets us all. Thanks for all your time, efforts, and journey sharing.
Thank you for putting all this out there for us. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for this info. We have been weighing doing a van tour and visiting relatives. Nice to know all the options available. Thanks. Your videos make my day.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice, the volunteering program is really nice!
It really is!
Ready for year 4,can't wait to see how all of this inflation has changed things. Hoping to be FT in less than a year.
Budget, Budget and Budget is a must in RV style living. It’s always great to wing it time to time, but need the stay up on your Budget. Saving where you can is a must to survive each year. Gas and Diesel is to high to keep traveling nonstop. Taking your time is a must to have everything balance out.
Thanks
I wish you the best in your travels this next year, but I have heard that some states are doubling state park camping fees this year and you will be competing with a lot more campers as well since everyone is tired of being cooped up at home and want to get out.
That’s disturbing, but understandable.
I love the videos. You guys are one of the reasons i bought a 5th wheel to build memories with my boys. Keep it up!!
Right on!
We are part timers and your videos sure helps us. This one was very informative. Keep up the good work - I know it is time consuming.
Thanks for watching!
Great information you two!!! 😁
That's right!
Thanks for watching!
good video like always. Where are you What Lake is that?? the numbers tell a story don't they. best of health and safe travels.
Lake Powell in AZ
USAF Academy has an RV park too?? NIce, so many gems in this video.
Just great video..Thanks. Hi from Puerto Rico
Awesome video once again guys, love you! Keep up the great work. We are just the nosy ones.....lol.
Great video! Yes, "that's right". Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Way to go on the bloopers. Keep them coming!
Your videos are always awesome, full of great info. Thank you!
Glad you like them! Thanks for popping over!
Just started following you and watching your videos. Great content, love them!! I am wondering how you track all your expenses so specifically. Is there a program you use, or a spreadsheet, etc?
Welcome aboard! We use a variety of things, mostly our CC statements.
Thanks for the information and the detailed tracking.
You bet!
Great channel! Thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
We changed from Progressive to Erie Insurance and saved money, they do TT don’t know what about motor homes.
Thanks for sharing your yearly expense when us that helps. Love the bloopers
You are so welcome!
Thanks, make sure you get the Veterans discount for Escapees.
Got it!
Hi! Were you staying at a new campground? So little green... lol. Thanks for sharing your info!! ♡
Yes, no landscaping yet....and its in the desert!
@@todayissomeday well, gol-ley! Pretty neat though!
Another great video, I’ll have to research if we have similar memberships available in Canada.
I am a military brat I’ve been above with RVs all of my life I’ve been through a whole Lotta Star Wars during my life I want to put you guys to the test
