Some people are confused. Fr. Ripperger is a doctor of the soul. His job is to help you make it to heaven. He's not an MD attempting to make you live as long as possible.

Dear Fr. Ripperger, I went to a heal in healing mass about 40 years ago. At mass, I felt like Our Lord was telling me how much it hurt Hi m every time I had a cigarette. I told Our Lord how sorry I was and received a healing that night. I have not had a cigarette since. Previously, I had tried to quite because when I 'd wake up, my chest would hurt.

Smoked for years - I for one could take it or leave it. Not an addiction for me. I enjoyed it. Used it when I was stressed or when I felt like it which was not often. Growing up I knew a few Priests who smoked and liked a Martini once in a while. Ask, pray, for discernment keeping in mind that our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Ghost. Thank you Father Ripperger for your wisdom - you are truly blessed. Praying for all Priests to attain such insight and clarity. God bless and help us in these dark days of tribulation. Fight the good fight - gird your loins and pray unceasingly.

I don't drink very much and wouldn't care if I never had another. However I do smoke I started at 13 as a daft kid, being egged on by friends. I have never been able to stop, I have tried many times, Im not hurting anyone only myself, and I'm addicted.

I think, what fr.chad ripperger means is we do this two things (drinking @ smoking) with moderation and provided that they will have a health benefits on each individual but if none and can make us addicted and no control of it, we better not do this.
