I've been looking for this video for months and finally found it, I have the same car as u do and always wanted to know if a could put paddle shifters into it, this video has been really helpful, thanks a lot
Hello. So basically if I buy oem paddle shifters I can cut holes behind my steering wheel and just add them? I noticed the only thing you swapped were the shifters?
Hi, a have a a3 8p automatic gearbox, but my steering whell doesnt have shifting paddles, if i put a one thath have one it will work or i have other steps to do?
Hi, is your car a 2.0? I have a 1.8 and my dam controls have no paddle plugs. Im just wondering if I need to get some used off of a 2.0 to have paddles.
@@brotherswan will definitely look into this! I saw you said you got this wheel for like $77 so that’s worth it even for just the bracket and shifters lol. Was cutting out the spaces for them a pain?
So would be the same as if I had an s3 steering wheel with the paddle shifters and replaced it with my current one, the paddles would function right away no wiring needed?
Hey man, great video just wanting to do the same in my TDI, I've noticed the buttons that you use were the a6 ones, bc the a3 ones didn't have the conector to plug the paddles, or did you just use the buttons fron the a3, and only the paddles from the a6??
Yea the paddles are from the A6 that’s the only thing i used from the a6 steering wheel. It might be cheaper if you buy the entire a6 wheel without the airbag. But you may get lucky enough to grab the paddles alone at a junk yard or something
So I'm following your video step by step. My steering wheel is stock as well. Where did you get the screws for the paddle shifters? Did they come stock on the wheel or did you pull them off the other steering wheel?
@@brotherswan sweet! Thanks brother! Been wanting to do this since I first got the car and I just don’t see myself paying the kind of money that these flat bottom dsg wheels are going for
You just made my day

You got it, glad i was able to help!
Yes sirr now is just a matter of finding who has a steering wheel for sell lol
eBay!
Hey brother I'm back just to make sure you got the buttoms form the a6 right?
Yea paddles from the A6
Omg thank for the video my guy I was into doing the same thing with my Audi A3 your a life saver thanks bro
Hello. So basically if I buy oem paddle shifters I can cut holes behind my steering wheel and just add them? I noticed the only thing you swapped were the shifters?
Yessir that’s correct. Depends on the year tho. Later ones i heard have to be coded
Dang can’t wait to do this! What did the paddle shifter wires connect to? Thanks for the video brotha 🙏
The steering wheel has oem paddle connectors inside the wheel so once you get the paddles installed you can just clip them into place!
Hi, a have a a3 8p automatic gearbox, but my steering whell doesnt have shifting paddles, if i put a one thath have one it will work or i have other steps to do?
I think you’ll have to code it in
Hi, is your car a 2.0? I have a 1.8 and my dam controls have no paddle plugs. Im just wondering if I need to get some used off of a 2.0 to have paddles.
Yea mine is the 2.0
The warning lights just went off as you drove? Can’t believe this worked. Great video man🙏🏾
Appreciate it I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while! Word, the lights went away within like 1 min of driving lol
@@brotherswan will definitely look into this! I saw you said you got this wheel for like $77 so that’s worth it even for just the bracket and shifters lol. Was cutting out the spaces for them a pain?
Not really it’s just foam so once you cut out the thin leather you can pretty much scrape out the foam with your fingers
@@shotbyram nah not really i just used a blade to trim out the leather and the rest can be taken out by hand since it’s just foam
What year,
So would be the same as if I had an s3 steering wheel with the paddle shifters and replaced it with my current one, the paddles would function right away no wiring needed?
If you have an s3 wheel it should just bolt right up without anything needed. Depends on the year tho
So i can do it with my a5 too, not any special wirings need to do it?
Depending on the year you should be able to
waiting for that e46 update my boy!

Nice job. That's genius!
Hi! Do you have to swap the buttons to??
I used all of my factory buttons
So I'm following your video step by step. My steering wheel is stock as well. Where did you get the screws for the paddle shifters? Did they come stock on the wheel or did you pull them off the other steering wheel?
I just used the screws from the factory A6 wheel but any screw with the same thread pitch would work
Wonder if this will work on my a6
Don’t see why it shouldn’t
Hey man! Great video! Any idea of this paddles serial number? I know they're from a6 but i've got trouble finding them online. Thanks!
Not sure on the serial number or part number. I just know they’re from a 2015 A6 so pretty much the same gen as the A3
@@brotherswan Sure, thank you very much!
What year is your a3? I want to do this with my 2015
This was a 2015 too
Did the check engine light go away after awhile?
The CEL is related to a disconnected sensor so doing the paddle shift mod won’t give you a cel
Do the stock control buttons come with the paddles button ?
The A3 controls work with the paddles
@@brotherswan yk how the a3 don’t come with paddles does the control button have the part where the paddles connect
this is tuff!!!!
this is dope
Does it work with a manual car or only auto
Manual wouldn’t need it
@@brotherswanwould be cool to have it tho so would it work
Theoretically, could i just purchase some paddles and install them? Without paying the $3-4-500 to buy a whole steering wheel?
You actually can
@@brotherswan sweet! Thanks brother! Been wanting to do this since I first got the car and I just don’t see myself paying the kind of money that these flat bottom dsg wheels are going for
Any Issues after some time passed ?
Haven’t had any issues, it was all OEM parts used so theoretically there shouldn’t be any issues.
@@brotherswan Do You Think It Matters The Trim ?
Trim don’t matter but with the years, the later models would have to be coded in
@@brotherswan so 2015 and up ?
@HbkRiqqq i think after 2016 it may need coding
Mine came with paddle shifters
Where did you get the steering wheel?
he said it was found in the ebay or something, but dont buy if ebay isn't available in your country.
Want to do this so bad
It’s worth it if you still have it
no fucking way
WAY!
