    Randomly encounter your video. I installed this on my 2016 S3 about a year and 8 months ago and I was never able to figure it out to make the push start button work.
    Watching your video and re checking the instructions I got. I just realized that when it says if you have a 4 pin or 6 pin. The instructions were not referring to the amount of cables in the oem push start plug. But rather the plug itself. Dang it. Thanks a lot for this video.
    I just realized that I did the install following the 4 pin instructions. And is the 6 pin like yours.
    So instead of pin 3 and 4 is freaking pin 3 and 6. I'll get that sucker working tomorrow. 😂
    Again thanks a lot.

    There’s a proper way and a lazy way and this is definitely the lazy cheap way. Instead of using the allready existing free pins specifically designed for that feature is absolutely hilarious. The kessy ecu is directly under the steering wheel cover where you could have picked the start signal from but hey, ripping 1/10 of the car out to do sketchy wiring with janky looking buttons is the way. Oh dear god thats the difference between us and eu car guys…

      Good question, I also have had an 8V Audi a3 2.0t. Christina does have a wheel with paddle shifters for you. Heres the MAJOR thing, if you do not have paddle shifters currently on your car then you need to purchase buttons from her that work with paddle shifters or buy separate buttons which I can provide you the eBay link for. Then it’s just plug and play after that! DM me on instagram

    • @Haydenschreiermk2
      @Haydenschreiermk2  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you buy a new wheel you will also need to buy new buttons that can power the paddle shifter. the A3 steering wheel buttons arent wired to send power to shifters even though there is a plug for them on the back. You have two options. the first is replace your wheel with an S3 or RS3 wheel that has buttons and shifters already on it. Option 2 is buy a carbon fiber wheel from christina who i show in my video and also tell her that you need to purchase the additional button assembly to make the paddle shifters work

    Ciao amico, posso chiederti una info? Ho visto il tuo video tante volte, perché anche io ho installato i tasti drive select e start. Ma nel collegamento che fai nella consol centrale fai solo il collegamento dei pin che vengono dal tasto di accensione, il 3 è il 6. Il Red è 12v e il Black e massa. Mi chiedo come fa a funzionare il tasto drive select? Grazie per la risposta

      mi spiace, parlo inglese e non italiano, quindi per favore traduci il mio testo
      Pin 3 and 6 are connections that tap into your push start button and the red and black are power for it as we are piggy backing the connection. The drive select buttons get power as they piggy back off the steering wheel. As you can see when I plug the steering wheel in there are more wires than the original. The steering wheel wires are for drive select power and the center console is only for start/stop buttons

      The alcantara airbag cover? I mean anything not from factory has its risks. HOWEVER upon further inspection of mine. It is indeed an OEM Audi steering wheel cover that you can see from the inside. You can tell it’s OEM and that they have put alcantara over it. I’m not sure it if it’s perforated or will tear upon airbag explosion (I hope it does) but I can’t be sure until it’s tested. I have seen videos of other airbags w alcantara on them tested and it does show it working

    Never disconnect that airbag with the battery connected. A better way to do it: Turn the car onto accessories only (Don't start it) then disconnect the battery. This will prevent the steering lock from coming on and allows you to manually turn the wheel left / right to disconnect the airbag.

    • @Haydenschreiermk2
      @Haydenschreiermk2  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can unclip the airbag perfectly fine with the battery connected. Nowhere in my video did I disconnect or touch the airbag wires with the battery still connected. Metal clips holding airbag to the wheel have nothing to do with the airbag wiring harness. Thats like saying don’t unscrew your seat with the battery still on because there’s an airbag in the seat. Obviously you can unscrew your seat with the battery still on. Just disconnect the battery before unplugging the airbag

      you 10000000% shoudl take the extra step to unplug the battery. this is to lower the risk of detonating the airbag and also throwing an airbag light. yes airbags dont deploy if the car is off but why risk it. if left on, theres a chance yo u may forget and accidentally start the car to turn the wheel.

    Not an r8 or a ttrs wheel. You might want to change the name on the video to r8/ttrs buttons on a3/s3/rs3 wheel or retrofit kit. R8/ttrs wheels are completely different than rs3 wheels. For start the main buttons are illuminated red instead of white and theres a big gap in center of ttrs and the r8 wheel. Also r8 wheel and or ttrs wheels depending on model have exhaust flap buttons and race mode buttons attached to the drive select and start stop but are extremely hard to program to an rs3. The drive select and start stop retrofit kit you have on that wheel are extremely easy to install.
