Thanks for the tip man!!!!! Just bought one about a month and 1100 miles ago for my daughter to learn how to drive in and the starter went out this morning! I’ll tackle it this evening and let you know how it went! I’m a little cheap too, so I may try cleaning the solenoid or just run to Pull-A-Part and grab another one!
My 09 mkz just started making this clunk sound before it starts like turns over then clunk then starts. Could that be the starter? The sound comes from under the hood right in the area where the starter is
a clunk while cranking? that could be the starter intermitently operating. check the connections of power to the starter, if they are loose, the starter could disengage and then engage while cranking@@stevenchapman365
@@historychannel2317 yeah man for about 2 years its been taking 2 cranks to start turn the 1st crank would be a dead spot. This morning went to start it. Had 3 dead spot turns then the 4th it turned over and then a loud CLUNK THEN STARTED. Almost like a back fire or something. Someone had said it could be bad fly wheel
Thanks for sharing, the same instructions worked on a 2017 Continental. Saved my family member the aggravation of being stuck in a parking lot along bunch of money by replacing the starter myself. 👌
Thanks! Autozone got me back in business & better warranty than Motorcrap! Wasn't bad at all. The water pump is the repair coming that frightens me but ok so far. 131k mi
I just did this. No need to remove that bracket. Easy to do if u have the same swivel ratchet this guy has. Easier if u attach the swivel to a breaker/t bar. Hardest part getting the old starter unstuck from the engine. Load up with pb blaster beforehand, then tap and wiggle it
hello i just did a motor swap on a car just like this. theres 2 parts im having issues finding where they go. the pcm upper connector theres a 6 pin connector i dont know where it goes, i can see it kinda goes behind your shocktower. 2nd one is theres a rubber hose that goes down, its right next to the mass airflow connector. when it goes down what does it plug into? reason im asking these questions is i took on job that the owner had things already taken apart and realized the motor swap was to big of a job . i can give you my email or cell number if that helps thanks doug
Great, easy to follow, instructions.
Thank you, from. Georgia!!

Anyway you can send a link to the part you bought at Autozone? I have a 2010 Lincoln mkz and need a starter
if you call AutoZone and tell them the specifics of your car they should be able to help you quickly.
Good video, thank you.
