Ben is the sort of guy who would be excited about New 52 and enjoy it out of context. I can't fault him that. It means the two of us could never hang out, but I think that wasn't in the cards anyway.

I love how Ben was joking about “Tor Wauki the Older” but no joke “Tor Wauki the Elder” is an actual magic character. Basically what happened is that the different Legends books were written mostly in isolation of one another, so Tor Wauki accidentally got used in two different sets of books, which take place a thousand years apart from one another. The solution is that it’s literally just two different people with the same name. Tor Wauki the Elder, and Tor Wauki the Younger. This also happened with Ramirez dePietero, with the solution being that he died at some point and continued his adventures as a ghost, so lifespan was no longer an issue.

He was the main character of The Gathering Dark (the novel for The Dark set) and the reason he’s immortal is that as a teenager he accidentally fell into a fountain of youth while trying to hide from some goblins. It sounds absurd but it’s not nearly that crazy in context. It’s not a bad book I actually recommend it. First Magic novel I ever read. Has some really interesting descriptions of the nature of mana and how the different basic lands relate to one another.
Now I'm picturing Prof running around with a Swear-Jar style glass jar with a slot in the lid labelled "The Oubliette" appearing and shaking the jar at people whenever they say Oubliette
I don't think you can Cheat in and stifle Primeval Spawn, 'cause the text at the beginning is not a triggered ability. those start with "When", "Whenever", or "At" typically, right?

You might not be able to put it out free, but you can still reduce the cost as much as possible. Run it with Morophon to deal with the WUBRG, plus whatever other cost reducers you can think of. Alternatively, you could use something that lets you "cast" the card without paying its mana cost, but be under a mana tax. Get a hit in with Maelstrom Archangel while running something like Academy Loremaster or Geist-Fueled Scarecrow if you're a madman.
