Actually one of the worst lesson ive ever watched. Constantly changing speed, no tabs, constantly skipping around between parts. Just confusing. Im not gonna complain because its free but if i payed for this lesson i would be steaming and asking for a refund.
I think you only learn to appreciate an art when you try your hand at it and realize how much actually goes into it. Metal is noise. Glorious ..glorious noise
indeed much of metal has roots believe it or not in classic music and blues and even some jazz. Most who are ignorant fail to realize this key fact. Much of modern metal even like Animals as Leaders borders on poetic classic guitar with dirt mixed in.
This main riff sounds super complicated at first, but for some reason it's super comfortable and fun to play it once you've practiced for at least 5 minutes.
the harmonics are tricky to get right with the power chords mixed in but not bad with practice and not many metal songs use that in the same way this song does so fun to use. Just like how EVH uses harmonics with arpeggios for Aint Talking About Love.
Megadeth is advanced stuff and after learning guitar for past 2.5 years, just starting to get to level where I can actually learn this stuff. Metallica stuff way easier except for some of the trickier songs.
@@GuitarsAndSynths damn, yeah megadeth is advanced, im on my 11 month of learning guitar and have just got round to them, metallica songs are what taught me pretty much everything i know
These songs look really hard until you start explaining them. You always teach me songs I never thought I could learn, and my first solo ended up being "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica!
Idk how but everytime Carl has ever explained a riff or lick to me It sounds like the easiest thing on earth once you know what he’s getting onto, Literally the best teacher out there
You know you’re good when someone makes a 5 minutes songs guitar lesson and the rhythm is the same length as the solo. Marty is a god and the fact that Carl is can teach this puts him up there with the greats
I'm surprised I'm actually able to play all those riffs after a bit of practice. Never tried to learn anything from Megadeth but I must say this is so much fun to play. Thanks for the lesson, much appreciated!
Once they are slowed down it really helps. when it's fast it's just a whole heap of notes and it can be hard to hear them individually, but once it's slowed down it's way easier to understand how the riff is constructed.
Wow this one got me good. I thought the intro would be easy. I got it after staying up from 10pm to 5am. Absolutely dreading the part 2 to this. This channel is the best out there.
I cant be the only one that stopped trying to follow halfway through just to enjoy the complexity of these riffs 😳 I'm definitely gonna come back to learning megadeth riffs as soon as I feel comfortable enough to try again lol
Scrolling through my Apple Music deciding which riff I want to learn next, saw tornado of souls and ive always had a daunting/looming fear of trying to learn it…. But I can count on that man Carl. Thank you
I thought to myself 'actually the intro, verse and pre-chorus are not too bad so far', then went back to listen to the recording...damn it's fast. The fact that Dave does all that and sings too...
the first riff is managable but the chorus riff idk how people play it at speed. I need way more practice i suppose. I cant even get the notes to match
how could anyone actually "thumbs down" this video? Carl is a great instructor. Probably not the best for beginners, he goes a little quick and teaches challenging content but one of the best teachers for intermediate and advanced players IMO.
One tip for people trying to learn megadeth: look up mustaine spider chords - he uses his middle and pinky fingers to make power chords when necessary for faster movement up and down the neck. Very cool technique !!
Awesome, well explained, easy to understand, thank you for posting this type of videos. I am just curious about Mustaine picking, Ive heard he is not traditional so he could hit the cords upward instead of just downward for power cords or riff in general.
Day two of learning this song n I already got the intro memorized.. I just need to keep practicing it until it feels natural then I will move onto the verse 4months later I can finally nail the intro without fucking up
Great lesson Carl! I love your tutorials on guitar songs. This has to be one of my all time favorite metal songs for classic thrash riffage. Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman two of the all time guitar metal gods in music history.
Megadeth fans just got a boner. And I happen to be one of them. Great lesson, Carl, you never cease to amaze me!! Can't wait for the solo! Greetings from Italy!🎸
Thanks man! I'm a long way from attempting that solo haha but this vid really helped me get the hang of pretty much every other part :) It's a really fun jam once you've got it down decently
Thanks Carl! You promised and you did it! Best guitar teacher on youtube!! It will take a while to learn the song but I'm courageus and can't wait to get to the solo because this is my fav song. Thanks Carl!

Just starting to learn guitar and I pick this video to follow. Just trying to do the very beginning part, getting intimidated. I just tell myself "I'm not incapable of learning this, I'm just a total noob. Getting it down takes practice" Lemme ask you, if I'm using a squire HSS Bullet strat as my beginner instrument, what position should I have the toggle switch in? Middle? Cause that's what it looks like yours is on. Maybe I'm mistaken?
No matter what the power chords on the verse riff never sound right, feel like I'm missing or adding a note everything time. Think the problem is that if you slow it down it doesn't sound correct, making it harder to learn
@hypermoose5794 Well, I don't sing so. I can just play the riff. Agree, though. I can't play the Tornado of Solos, though. Not yet. Only at step-dad speed, lol. Even though I am not a dad or step-dad yet. Too young.
Carl is underrated. Period.
He is the best
