      I did not thumb it down but typical admission into the RRHoF should NEVER be taken seriously. The Beasties are 1 of about a dozen bands that MAY actually be deserving of entry. And though they've apologized and no longer endorse homophobia, they sure did at one time.

      Stop it!!! 🤣🤣💀 Yall make it hard for them to get their respect saying silly shit.They came out nearly 15 years after Hip Hop was created,they had absolutely nothing to do with the foundation of Hip Hop & they are not rappers/lyricists.They're just 3 white dudes who grew up loving all music & formed a band.No need to rewrite history,just give them their flowers.

    • @tonyska
      @tonyska ปีที่แล้ว

      @Stacy C Maybe not the foundation but they played their part in it's early journey. That fact can't be denied.

      @@phoney4387 15 years later? Damn it's too bad you don't know what you're talking about. Sugarhill gang came out with rappers delight in 79, and licensed to Ill came out in 86. So that's actually about 7 years before the first "hip hop" song that came out on the radio. It's the middle years of the 80s where the whole b-boy scene and hip Hop was starting to percolate. I was there when it was happening so don't try and tell me you know better.

    It’s pretty sad and ignorant if anyone gave them a thumbs down but I don’t see a thumbs down on this video. These guys are great human beings on top of what they did for music. The world needs more good people. I just watched the speeches from Chuck D and LL, and they were incredible. Chuck is brilliant in general and LL is an amazing and smart dude. So much respect for these 2 legends and they’re the perfect dudes to honor the Beastie Boys.

    The Beasties used to go down to Rock clubs in the early 80s where it was full on Rock and Punk scene. There is where the Beastie boys heard the first hip hop records being played over the loud speakers. it's crazy to think that in clubs where it was mainly Rock, they would play Hip Hop to rock fans. That's rock for you, they bring exposure to things that mainstream media wouldn't necessarily be covering. This is coming full circle for them tho, starting as a punk band and then evolving into a hip hop group. well deserved. RIP to MCA (Adam Yauch) and may the boys carry on their legacy any which way they can. Rock on \m/

      Nightclub DJs have only one job - to keep people dancing. It's the ultimate meritocracy. If your record makes people dance, it gets played. In the 80s, it could have been U2, Michael Jackson, David Bowie or Grandmaster Flash. Back to back to back. Great era (but maybe I'm biased).

    I remember Ad Rock saying after MCA died that he had us fooled in the best way. I remember the emails from Oscope asking people to pray at the same time at a certain hour all together and send healing energy. I think at the time of this ceremony, we were all in disbelief that he'd actually die. He was so positive and forward thinking...it just seemed impossible at that moment. Miss his voice in the world so much!

    This band has been the one constant throughout my life since I was old enough to make my own music choices. I've seen many bands, and I've enjoyed many bands but for 35 years there is only one group I hear every day, one group I just cannot resist singing/yelling along with...literally any time they come on. I have raised 4 kids, and when I'm dead and gone my kids will still smile and remember me being stupid any time they hear these legends.
