Given that he has been quoted saying he dislikes the RRHOF going to induct them meant more to him then his hatred of the institution. He's a class act and always respects fellow musicians even if It means going against or changing his principles.

The way that Trent describes the way the music of The Cure made him feel connected is the way that Nine Inch Nails made me feel as a young man. It was a dark time and Trent's music made me feel like I wasn't alone. Without him I don't know if I ever would have made it through those years. This is a big part of the reason I named my son Trent.

Same, man. Everyone seemed to want me to pretend like everything was okay. Like all that mind meltingly horrible shit hadn’t happened. I really got the message that if I just behaved correctly, I’d feel better. But I couldn’t seem to behave correctly. The adults telling me this were doing exactly what they were telling me not to do, so it made it so confusing, and I hated myself, and I knew something insidious was hurting not just me, but people’s understanding of me. The insidious nature of social acceptance and compliance and faith being a virtue (why??? Why is believing there’s an ultimate king who’s on your side a sign of anything noble? “God is my daddy and he’s going to kick your ass-i.e. cause you to suffer eternally”) I’m not going to lie; I wish I could believe like they do. Like read that their god is a jealous god and gets angry when he’s jealous and not think “Damn that’s an abusive relationship, if that’s god no thanks, but also, it isn’t” They believe whatever makes their life easier instead of what makes it much much harder to cope with
Sorry. Holy shit, sorry. Trent is a great name even without context. It just sounds cool.

But he is so genuine and his speech makes you love the band even more. They intelligently picked Trent for the job. A hero of mine praising another hero of mine. This warms my heart. Long story short, saw Robert Smith in a small Cafe by himself in Hollywood , right before kiss me, kiss me,kiss me, was released in late 1986, I walked up to him shyley introduced myself told him I was big fan of him and his music, he looked at me and said "you got fag?" I looked at him perplexed and said "a fag?" He Replied to me" Aww cack, a cigarette!" I said I only have clove cigarettes, he smiled and said " does it taste good with a pint?". I said " oh yeah it does!!!!" Sat with him for almost 2 hours!! Talking about just life and music. Of the 3 things in my life that always will matter to me,as now iam 53. That was one of them! He signed my 5 dollar bill. To which i have kept in my wallet since 1986!! the cure.. like everyone else, for me, I got through tough times in life. As I would gladly to it over again! Oh, and Robert, as I said back in 1986, you make a impact on people, you may not know it now but later you will see! Thank you for being a you! Was good to meet you again in 1996. the music of the Cure will have no equal, lately Murphy and Trent, have made covers of Cure, of Joy division, and also, Clan of ximox, to honor the first real Tac.
however the comparison does not stand up, the Cure will remain present from 78 with their music, to the eternity, I NIN, they are a music that will take the disks, to the others, who will come, good luck, it is a terrible experience, in the sense good of the word

I was definitely an outsider who listened to bands like The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division/New Order, DM, etc. Actually, I’m still kind of an outsider, still can’t stand today’s top-40 garbage, and I still think Madonna was/is overrated while Aimee Mann didn’t get enough recognition-I guess Aimee didn’t dance around on stage in her bra, so she wasn’t worth recognizing in the ‘80s... but I digress.

Spoken by a man I jammed with on stage in Santa Cruz and a man who he speaks of who honored my late fiancé. It’s a beautiful thing ! Two giants honoring one another! Peace Christo 👽🐕🎶🛸

What a great speech. So many of my emotions and memories of hearing The Cure for the first time were echoed in his words. Great speech Trent.

This is why I need NIN’s (Trent Reznor) in my world. He’s so bloody SMART and gorgeous!!!! I can’t stand it!!!! What other perfect artist to introduce The Cure of whom I adore? Did you see the healing and endearing look on Roberts face as Trent was speaking? Priceless. It made me tears 😭 eyed. 🥰❤️🔥💯💕💋😍
