For reference if anyone is wondering about sizing, I am size M comfortably in North face (Denali Fleece, Nupste puffer and rain jackets) and in Arc’teryx I am size L (Atom LT, Nuclei FL, Beta LT)
Arc'teryx sizing is so weird for me, im 6'6 190. The ceruim lt large is super snug on me but the atom lt large is a parachute. This video helped a lot thank you!
The cerium LT is cut really trim. I guess that it is designed to be more of a mid layer than an outer layer. Keeping it trimmer makes wearing a shell over it easier. I'm 6'2, 215lbs, and all of my jackets in XL fit me well.
I’m 5’11. I’m not stuck thin but I ain’t fat either , that awkward middle ground. I got the beta in a small and it fits perfect . Bit tight with a hoodie but a sweatshirt fits perfect under the jacket
Great content. I have the same issue with the Beta LT I just purchased. I’m 5,10” 220-230 lbs. The XL does me like a glove if I wear t-shirt but it’s tight if I wear a base layer. The XXL is roomy with t-shirt bit it fits better if I layer. Thinking about keeping both
I normally wear a XXL, I have a 49" chest. I just picked up a Nuclei SV parka on final sale. Got the XL based on your video on it. I'll find if that was the right call when it arrives. Sort of a gamble as there are no returns on final sale lol.
I hope it fits you well. I only downsized because I don't want to wear layers under it. The jacket is sized a bit large. The difference in size L and XL is often more room in the main body of the jacket. The sleeves and length overall are not always that different.
My son is 15 and 178 cm tall and normal atletic, maybe alittle thin..and i would like to buy a Thorium hoody..is it size small or medium..he will use a hoodie sweatshirt under the thorium hoodie. Thanks for a fantastic channel❤
Enjoyed the explanations and demo on sizing! Do you do one where you compare all the hard shells together, and all the puffers one against the other etc?
Yes, I have a video on all 5 of my hardshells together. Also a video on The cerium LT, cerium SV and Thorium AR together. I bought the cerium SL months after I did the video on the three other down jackets. Also there are videos of every jacket on its own.
Hey! Thanks for the amazing information on sizes. I started to look into buying the Beta AR and can’t decided between L and XL. I’m 6’ 214 lbs and plan to wear Atom LT layer underneath for mostly hiking. Some people say L some say XL, what do you think based on your experience? Also, should the atom mid layer be the same size I choose for the shell?
Great Video! Im in the process of buying. Ordered L in Beta lt. I'm between 43-44 inch Chest. Will I be able to layer under it? By the way I'm not sure you mentioned your Chest size . Did I miss that? I see you wear mostly XL. Thanks.
The Beta is a hardshell, designed to fit over other pieces. If you are planning to wear it over heavier layers, then maybe the larger size. If it's going to be worn over a tee shirt, or thin layer, then maybe the smaller size would be good. It's hard to say, but for normal use, go with the size that you wear most often in all other clothing. Everybody fits into things differently.
The XL should fit well in the body, but the arms and length mat be really big for you. It also depends on what you're wearing under it. What size do you normally wear, I would go with that first.
Quick opinion question: I'm thinking about pairing a Thorium hoodie with an Alpha SV shell. The Thorium Medium fits me perfectly, but I want to know if I need to size up to a large Alpha SV in order to go over the Thorium properly. I'd go try them on, but it's not possible living in Hawaii.😬
@@meandmyjackets super thankful! I'd hate to buy the wrong size. Loved your video, BTW & still making my way through your website. This is really helpful resource for those of us not around the physical items often.
I don't own the Macai LT, but just looking at the materials of the jacket on the Arc'teryx web site, I would guess that it's the warmest of the three. The Therme is nice, but it has lighter insulation than the Macai LT. The Beta AR is just a hardshell, no insulation with that.
Hello! Question for you: I find the Cerium LT size medium, fit me well. Shall I go for the Thorium in size small since it's a regular fit piece and thus wider than the Cerium LT? Always great content, thanks for sharing!
No, I would get the Medium . The thorium is a regular fit, but it's not huge. You should feel comfortable in it, and have some room to layer under it as well. I normally wear an XL, and I originally bought the thorium in a Large.... I had to send it back as it was too tight. The XL then was great. So I think that you will be fine with the Medium.
Hi, I'm about 181cm tall and planning purchase a ATOM LT VEST, which size would you recommend for me to purchase? I don’t like Jacket fit too tight on my body
Hey, I have a atom lt size large that fits me great. I would like to buy a beta sv. I am 1.83 83kg broad shoulders. I would like to put at least the atom lt under the beta sv and maybe a fleece under it or even replace it with a thorium for example. What size should I pick ? L ? XL ? Thanks !
I would say that it depends on what you plan to wear under it. If heavy layers, than I think the XL. But for lighter layers, the L may be good. I am 6'2" 215 lbs. and I normally wear a XL. However, I do have a Beta LT in size L, but I only wear it in the summer as a rain jacket. I don't have enough room under it for an insulated layer. You are thinner than I am, so the L may be good, but for heavy or multiple layers... the XL is probably the way to go.
Hi I’m 5’11 and want to get the beta lt and normally wear a medium but I like a looser fit the way the purple xl beta looks on you compared to the l tan beta on you should I buy a medium or large I have a average body type aswell
The medium will probably be good. My LT is down sized to a Large for me. It's actually a bright green color, but with the greenscreen, the computer changes the color. 🙂 My purple FL and may Zeta SL are both trim fit like the LT and are my normal size of XL. I have plenty of room under them for layers.
@@bencanning9344 If your size is normally medium, it should fit you with extra room, as the shell is always cut larger so it can be worn over other medium sized layers under it. 95% of my Arc'teryx pieces are XL, and the XL betas fit over everything. If you want even more room, consider the Beta AR it is a regular fit, and will give you even more room inside than the trim fit Beta LT. But the LT should be Ok.
For reference if anyone is wondering about sizing, I am size M comfortably in North face (Denali Fleece, Nupste puffer and rain jackets) and in Arc’teryx I am size L (Atom LT, Nuclei FL, Beta LT)

Everyone is different, just have to find what works best for you.
How does it fit with a fleece?
How much do you weigh if you don’t mind me asking?

I like the LT as a summer rain jacket in the "smaller" size. It's light, and breathable in the warmer weather.

I would suggest getting both pieces in the normal size that you always wear. The shell is made to fit over another jacket of the same size.

You'll have to try it out, depends on what type of layers too. If it doesn't fit the way you want, it can be exchanged.
I’m 5.9 and 46” chest so I’m looking at XL for atom LT presuming LT is a fitted jacket.
The Atom is a true fitting jacket. That is whatever size you would normally wear in anything else, i would go with here.
Hello there! Great video indeed! I am 6,1 172. Should i go medium or large for the Beta jacket?

The alpha in size medium should fit over the medium thorium with no problems. I have both in XL, and they are great together.

Size XL , 6'2" 215lbs.

I would stay with the Large, as the beta is a regular fit shell that is made to fit over those layers. You should not have a problem with the large.
I’m 6.4ft looking at the alpha sv jacket, do I go large or Xl? I’m pretty broad shouldered
I would say XL. Especially if you want to wear some layers under it.
