    Hey man loved the explanation!
    So many options to choose from but I was wondering what would be best for rainy weather and wind not much activity just to walk around outside but must be waterproof and light . What’d you recommend?

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Beta LT would be a good all round choice, with the Norvan LT as a second if you don’t need pockets. However if lightness and pockets are required the Zeta SL will be best, just make sure you wash it regularly as Paclite+ has delamination issues.

    Hi Jeff, what’s the main difference between Fraser and Beta series? Can you share your view from usage perspective please? Thank you.

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fraser is C-knit (softer) and Beta uses regular/pro goretex membranes. In essence they are all waterproof, Fraser is more comfortable next to skin and is intended for urban usage. The Beta series can be used in both urban and outdoor settings with beefier face fabrics (heavier weight) with increased durability.

    please i need your help, can we ski with these jackets. Are the ar and the lt good for skiing?

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  ปีที่แล้ว

      The AR and LT versions can be used for skiing if you wear bibs underneath. If you have pants you might want to look at the Rush or Sabre jackets.

  • @Fun_Dealer
    @Fun_Dealer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Currently stuck between the beta AR and the Alpha SL. They are both very different but reading reviews from outdoorgearlab the Alpha SL seems to outperform the Beta in every aspect with the exception of the beta being a tad more durable. I want to use my hard shell in all weather conditions, for running, for climbing but also for hill walking and camping. I want it to last years and years. Currently stuck on which to get. The Alpha SL seems like the one to buy but I’m worried about durability. It’s been the outdoor gearlabs top jacket for 8 years running so that’s what’s persuading me at the moment. What are your thoughts? It seems strange that I’m comparing these two!!

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beta AR will probably fit your use cases better if you can get along with the drop hood. Alpha SL is a specialized piece that was designed for climbing/alpinism, unless you can live with the single chest pocket. I would pick the Alpha SL over Beta AR if my primary use was active use only.

    • @Fun_Dealer
      @Fun_Dealer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abearsmind I see thank you for the reply. Maybe the Beta LT is a good inbetween? Or will this have poor durability?

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fun_Dealer The Beta LT will stand up to your regular day to day use and outdoor usage as long as you're not bushwhacking or rubbing on coarse surfaces all the time (rocks etc).

    Bro would you say the beta ar is similar to the lt when it comes to breathing?

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All goretex breathes poorly, which is why you need the pitzips. Go for the AR if you want a tougher face fabric, if not LT is the way to go.

    • @abearsmind

    • @mturner221
      @mturner221 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @philorgneopolotin8762 I did actually man! Ended up with Beta AR and love it. Had it almost a year and really like it. I nicked the sleeve rolling under my car (like an idiot with a $500 jacket on) and the customer service wouldn't help other than send me a free goretex patch. My fault so I kinda understand. But wading through blackberries doesn't tear it, sliding against rough bark doesn't tear it. Also you will Need to treat it with the waterproofing spray maybe twice a year if you wash it weekly. I wash it every week and still repels all water. So highly recommend for tree workers, maybe not for mechanics 😩
