I kind of feel sorry for the Bombshell game - doesn't sound like a great one, but you see kids having a great time with things like Buckaroo and Pop Up Pirate, so it's not as inherently terrible as many of the other ones on the list (or even some of the newer excretion based titles). Just the wrong time of release by the sounds of it

It might seem silly that people thought if you did drugs in a board game you'd want to do them in real life, but in all fairness, playing Catan does turn you into a boring person.

Lovely video, the balance of humour and information was exactly right, and I thought it was good to include the appaling Juden Raus game as a stark reminder of why some games SHOULD be banned, whereas with some of the others the reason for banning them was a bit feeble or even wrong (Gay Monopoly looks great!). I also thought the way you tackled the seriousness of Juden Raus within a humorous article was very tasteful and spot on.

The university i attended has a Jim Crow Museum that is home to a bunch of different racist memorabilia from the past 100 years or so and uses it as a way to teach about how far we have come as a society, the prejudice black people have had to face, and how far we still have to go. Not a fun day on the town but definitely a learning experience.

Yeah, if and when fascists or whatever.. ists are broken down to their core intention, they do look ridicule, don't they? But satire was apparently not the intent from the producers, but some people once decided that it would be a good idea.
On the other hand, apparently a lot of people weren't even aware of the deads of the regime. That's why axis powers were intelligent enough to do a lot of schooling, through museums and such. Wasn't it called the marshallplan at some point in time? Or was that more of just economics and legislation?

In the game it is your goal to get past the bouncer and gain entrance to the club which is notoriously hard to do in real life. Maybe for another video.

I've actually played "Kolejka" at school once. We were like, 13-14 I think, and we played it during history classes thanks to a Polish Institute of National Rememberance employee who was visiting schools, promoting this game the year it was released. Yes, it was actually made in partnership with Institute and the idea was to show kids in a fun, non-harmful way how hard was life back then (for example, you get a task card with all the products you need to buy for a birthday party or Mother's Day). It was pretty fun too, though since we were 13-14 years old kids, everything would be more fun than history classes. From what I see at Wikipedia, it even got a Game of the Year reward and I'm pretty sure you can still buy it at bigger game shops and bookstores.

Ah, the hilarity of university assassins' games. When I arrived at university and started playing in 2003, you could send "poisoned letters" with talcum powder in, leave "fake bombs" outside people's rooms (lemonade bottles with large disclaimers on), "poison" people's drinks with chillis or the like, and we also used rubber pellet guns, which basically looked like a cheap airsoft gun but were supposed to be decorated so they couldn't be confused with a real gun.
All of these were, in my three-year university career, eventually banned by the society - sometimes of our own volition in a response to wider events (e.g. when there was a spate of drink spikings, that caused us to reconsider our own poisonings) but most dramatically when a group of players with pellet guns were arrested by armed police after a bystander called 999 and that led to the end of that.
    Good times.

I actually have a copy of that Titanic game. I was thinking of doing a review of it. But that would mean I'd have to play it...

Can anyone remember a game where you had to build bridges around the sides of a board, these could be blown up by your opponents.

    1) Reality is the name of the female condom.
    2) Bombshell had a variant in Canada where you roll a bunch of designed dice kept in a decorative plastic munition container and a when certain combination exists, the "explosion" goes off.
    3) Without going into details that might get me a ban hammer, Christian Hull has some Australian Monopoly versions that some people will be entertained by, immensely.

I have the Sinking of the Titanic. Played it plenty of times when I was young. Never knew it was banned. I almost bought serial killer but it would have come from the States and I did not know if it could get through customs (seeing as it was banned and all). I also have all editions of Killer. It's a really fun game if you don't take it too far.

Yeah, the only problem is what mankind does when the phrase 'don't take it too far' is involved in the activity.

Instead of banning Monopoly from your table, I challenge you to adjust the rules of the game to make it playable

"Taking speed and getting to roll two dice instead of one"? If this were realistic, you'd play the "Taking Speed" card before rolling one die, and whatever you roll would also be the result for your next three turns. Because speed makes you do the same thing over and over and over and ov

I ended up here after watching a show where Rosie got very Cross. Now I don't think Rosie would be one to do a violence but if she did mayhaps do a violence during a board game club I imagine it being hyper violent like Bottom. Possible sketch idea?

"Sorry, girls! No space for you!"
Perfectly sums up what it felt like to be a little girl during the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo days who was a space buff.
...and who also had a last name that *didn't* come from the same countries that the astronauts' surnames came from.
