That 528i manual that was in the top gear special, was at a garage that me and my dad spent most of our time at, for a few weeks before it was used in top gear. it was kept by one of the top gear mechanic’s and my dad was asked to move it a few times and I remember getting in it with him once. every time I see or hear about it it reminds me of my dad❤seeing a car that I had been in and around on top gear was amazing for me as a child now it having a mention on my favourite TH-cam channel is a nice reminder of my dad
Agree - that and the £1500 Porsches were what set the template for the bigger episodes further down the line. Vietnam and The Nile episodes being the high point. India being very much a low point.
One challenge I'd recreate is the one where Jeremy takes a Jag XJ V8 from Land's End to Lowestoft on the shortest night, to see if he can arrive before the sun rises. But I'd reverse it: take the shortest day (so December 21st ish) and drive from where the sun rises to where the sun sets.
The Vietnam special is my favourite too. When it first started I thought it was going to be rubbish because they were on bikes but it was epic and made me want to visit Vietnam
Would love to see you guys do a cheap car challenge abroad, buy really rare cars in another country and try and drive them back to the UK as an import. Then do more challenges here with them.
Can I be a nerd? Rory was wrong - the Vietnam Special was one, just over an hour-long episode. The Patagonia, River Nile and Burma Specials were all two episodes...
For me the one that nearly made me die laughing was The Hover Van. If you want a real life threatening challenge go to Argentina in 3 old British military vehicles with I Love the Falklands bumper stickers
Completely agree, by far the best! Alex, Taylor and Rory should replicate - Gareth could drop them somewhere remote with Rory's land rover part disassembled and they have to build it and drive to civilization without a sat nav over a couple of days. 😂
I just laughed and laughed when I last watched the Toybota, the high rise Citroen and May's sailing car challenge. Their lack of skill on water is just brilliant television.
It wasn't a special, but I have been on the Albanian 'Ferry'. The raft with the 5 legged captains chair. However, the two things leading up to it was also weird.... Going north from Greece, going across the border, not even 50yards from bordering building, a pack of goats crossed over the road..... Not long after, going off the main road, we had to deal with a bush fire. I do have a picture of a tractor going through the smoke with bits of ember flying through the smoke. Looked like something Johnny Knoxville would do. We had to drive through the smoke, otherwise about a 5-6hr detour, and I still remember feeling the heat despite being the furthest away in the car.... 5/5 would do again 😁 As for my fav top gear, I kinda agree the estates was good, but maybe Patagonia? Yes it ended badly, but the cars were great. for Grand Tour, Cambodia was nice but I like photography so the cars were meh. Madagascar had nice vehicles, but the setting suited offroaders (yeh, I know, defeats the point of the challenge)
I've seen that ferry and went to the abandoned submarine base they went to! Was so cool to see the places they'd been, and then getting pulled by the Albanian rozzers...
Would be awesome to see you guys doing some proper foreign trips (more than just the Nurburgring). America, Japan, Vietnam?... Hopefully the channel gets to a point where we can see maybe 1 or two of these mega trips a year.
Other challenges ? Harry Metcalf (Harry's Garage) took his (Arctic)Rolls to the Arctic Circle. How about taking cars to their place names; Fords to Granada, Cortina, Capri? A Renault to Laguna? Or a Kia to Rio?
Omg guys please do a Vietnam special where you’re all on motorbikes! Like the idea of car, public transport, motorbike but would prefer to see you all together 😊
For me, when jeremy did the audi (a6) diesel in one tank from london to scotland in back on one tank, or the £100 car challenge. The simple ones are best.
I like the Bolivia special. I love the conclusion at the end of the adventure about Jeremy's Range Rover, It turns out the most unreliable car in the world is the most reliable car in the world.
@@jameslewis9103 I'd rather see any random young professional driver get that gig. They would actually be able to do consistent lap times with little to no crashes as well.
@MyRealName was just going on the basis they all get along. And are funny together, think the boys annoy misha a lil bit makes for good comedy. Agree with the young driver comment.
I want to see u all do a race from scotland back to the unit in a new sh*tbox each with no upgrades all have to have an mot and be for under a £1000 lol😂 or another crazy caravan adventure guys because taylor and his laugh had me in tears 😂😂😂 love the channel and content lads ❤
I liked the early challenges the most: 100£ cars, cheap Porsches, cheap supercars, British Leyland cars and of course the first ever special in America.
i dont think it was the best in terms of watching it. but in terms of achievement it was by far the best thing they ever did. i think i prefer Burma as most fun challenge to watch
If it was my choice, it'd be one of the early ones, can't remember what the budget was but it was the Italian sports car challenge, James May in the Lamborghini, Richard Hammond in the Dino & Clarkson in the Maza Borra, Rj in Oz
I got a good look round and inside the North Pole hilux, it was sitting in the middle of inverness one day advertising the new hilux. Unbelievable machine
Buy rare/impossible, supposedly 'running' cars sight unseen from a selected country, holidaycollect those cars and get them shipped, try driving them from harbour to home, then get them bogfixed, somehow mot ready, and then, suit yourself! Oh, and accompany that with leisurly educative podcasts! 😁
"I'd like to go to the south pole cos it 's warmer!!"How is that possible?People need to remember that before the north pole adventure the 3 lads needed intense training in preparation and Sir Ranulph Fiennes showed them what frostbite can do.
There's only one Top Gear and it can never be bettered. That being said, you guys are the true inheritors and I like your style. Why not take your 'pet cars' (the one's with names) across Canada to Alaska? On the way, all three of you collectively try one of those ridiculous 'you cannot eat all of this' food challenges, I've seen 'The Beard' in action, that guy is just another level awesome, but three of you could give it a go? Separate rooms guys, you have been warned!.
Love to see you do your own adventure. I suggest Pensacola FL to Key West FL to Jacksonville FL, taking as many county and state roads as possible. Along the way there are cold water springs, rollercoasters, alligators, haunted houses, and a rich automotive history. I suggest the 3 of you buy 4x4 trucks or SUVs in Pensacola and camp in them along the way. Plenty of amazing places for off-roading on the way. And there may even be a UFO or skunk ape.
Love Top Gear challenges, my fave was the Albania challenge. How about Alex and the gang source and modify and paint off roaders for the Ukrainian army then do a road trip to deliver could be a great trip.
Vietnam was awesome. As was the first USA special. However, I'd like to see you guys doing a section of coast road, NC500 or the east coast of England in shitboxes.
africa special i would be down for that in a heart beat. And I would take mk1 octavia 4x4 estate. I drove octavia scout with every light on dash around europe 5k miles in 40 days
The AutoAlex trio doing the Ha Giang Loop in Vietnam would be an incredible set of videos for the scenery and the people. I did it last year and it's the best thing I've probably ever done. Incredible place.
We need a good hour or 2 hour Top Gear challenge from yourselves.. Not the ring, or places you can easily get to! I'm talking shitboxes in the depths of Africa where there are no roads. Proper living in the cars and everything, budget to buy the car, set up living in it and all sorts would be epic! 💯👊🏻🔥
i plan too do a real stupid idea of driving from the south of the UK too Dubai . for the off-road shows/events in the desert. driving in my 1987 landrover 110
1000$ endurance challenge! Get taylor and eathen in one 1000$ vehicle, and rory and alex in another 1000$ vehicle, they have 24 hours to get from point A to point B, AND their not allowed to step foot outta their vehicles!!! They MUST live in their vehicle for 24 hours while racing to a local!!
Same too, if these become an Autoalex extended specials/adventure with the same feel as 2007 Top Gear (without the modern day equivalent of an expensive professional TV filming gear that makes things feel super high budget) but with the content of Top Gear Specials. I would gladly donate my money for this in a heart beat.
I wonder if that would work because you need a 20-30 group of people and a lot of them are specialized in certain areas, with a lot of equipment and good reliable newish cars to do that. There is a LOT of money involved.
Ermmm Hate to be the bearer of bad news Taylor but the South Pole is about 20deg COLDER than the North, year round. (like averages of -30C in the summer and -60C in the winter)
Every Top Gear challenge and special should be re released in a much extended cut, now that TV schedule isn't a thing with on demand shows
That 528i manual that was in the top gear special, was at a garage that me and my dad spent most of our time at, for a few weeks before it was used in top gear.

Race the sun, wasn’t it?
A really awesome bit that. Showed off the car, had some drama, and JC called the sun a loser.
Geoff buys cars and the McMaster have just done similar..EV vs diesel, worth a watch.
many people have recreated in on here

I took the liberty to use your good idea and give it a slight twist..
possible, but expensive. They have families and business to run. They can't just go abroad and do silly things for our entertainment.
Can I be a nerd? Rory was wrong - the Vietnam Special was one, just over an hour-long episode. The Patagonia, River Nile and Burma Specials were all two episodes...
Anything that corrects or shuts up loud-Rory is just fine.

Budget supercars!! Awesome. The Maserati engine disintegrating all over the place was just legendary!

You three give off the same vibes as the Top Gear trio! You all genuinely like each other but you like teasing each other even more! 😂😂😂
For me it was the episode in the uk where Richard rode a bike, James an xk120 and Jeremy the steamtrain. That had some intense moments!
these 3 are the new top gear, absolutely love the content, loads of entertainment keep up the good work
Hard to pick a favourite top gear challenge, all of them involving Clarkson, Hammond and May have been excellent.
Agree, can't choose either! I've re-watched them all so many times now 😄
It is a tremendous body of work, it'll stand the test of time for a long long while
Amphibious car challenge!!!!

The original America special was iconic, I think that set the bar and was just full of memorable moments
My favourite challenge was actually the Grand Tour Mongolia challenge - the one where they have to assemble the car first.
Completely agree, by far the best! Alex, Taylor and Rory should replicate - Gareth could drop them somewhere remote with Rory's land rover part disassembled and they have to build it and drive to civilization without a sat nav over a couple of days. 😂
Get Rory to the North Pole in the P38 😂
He'd be doing well to get north of Birmingham.
one of the most underrated challenges is the "Youth First Car" one, Jezza water bedded Volvo!!

1. Source of the river nil
2. Vietnam Special
