- Star Citizen has some incredible ships but the one everyone wants to pilot is the great capital ship called the Idris. It's a massive ship that is only accessible through careful planning and a pretty tough heist. Real talk, I actually got help from a wonderful Phontaine_ak from the 7Hills Industries Org. Yeah but with constant 15fps, desync like crazy and disconnects every 15mins. Plus needing 2 hours to pick up the crew from places because of bugs fucking up the gameplay like hangars not working, terminals not working, hangar doors being invisible killing ships...
@@AM-zh4je wich leads to the obvious that they cannot make ships as crewdependent, at least real player wise as they wanted, nobody aint time for that shit to organize, meet, prepare and move out
@@Chris_KAyFrom what I hear, Orgs in star citizen now do quite large events, easily enough to man a large multicrew vessel like this, quite often, so it might not be as far a stretch as you think.
As well as this, large ships like this are designed for multi crews, but there are, smaller ships designed for a single person, or 2, ships are designed to meet a purpose within game, they arent a one fit all solution, just like you wouldnt pilot a 15crew ship with 1 person, you wouldnt pilot a 1crew ship with 15 people
Those one shot kills were hilarious and thanks to the guys who showed up to let you shoot at them. You made taking out another Idris look easy!
20:54 my PTSD kicked in at that moment. During the first or 2nd rounds of Xenothreat I was in my Andromeda with a gunner. I got target fixated on a XT Hammer Head and flew between the Idris and Javelin. The timing could not have been worse. I flew right into that Railgun shot that was meant for the Jav. My Connie... instantly Deleted. My gunner was laughing his ass off because he saw it coming and didn't think I'd fly into it.

funfact the Devastator mass drive cannon of the idris does not fit inside a C2.
I really want to get AI to man the turrets of our own ships. Don't have anyone to play with, and all of these ships with manned turrets could be so much fun.

That railgun can one shot an 890, so whatever that guy was in was either glitched or he was cheating! Enjoyed the video though, I can't wait to get my Idris K in 2055!
Cool vid. Seeing it on its landing gear, it jogs a memory of when I first flew across Stanton in an Aurora during an event. They had it parked in the bottom sub-level of whatever event was goin' on at Lorville ages ago. It was the only part of event that my old azz PC would load.

I wonder if you could refuel it at a mining outpost or from a player Starfarer? Edit for more wonderings: I wonder if you could take it to New Babbage and land it on the lake for a ship show? Would the armistice zone disable the turrets so that it wouldn't be constantly firing on other players?
You can refuel at langrange stations. I have done it. Gotta be sideways on the pads
"Stolen" ships like this can't be refueled with Starfarer, at least at the moment. I've tried refueling someone's stolen Hammerhead before and it does not work

30:00 if the railgun bullet deals say, 100k damage as physical impact, but only 20k as explosive in a radious, then if it hit a ships wing (even a Mustang), the wing will recieve 100k damage, but the rest of the ship (if in radious) only 20k. Since a ship can never critically blow up from just losing a wing, it survives.
Yeah its a bit dumb, frankly these kinda weapons should be way higher on the explosive damage, and a wider radious, so it kinda melts any ship part nearby, not just the specific part it hits.

Hey Ollie, was this a uee idris, an eckhart or a service beacon one? I wonder how the pirates were able to keep the top gunners. I usually have to clear them to board the ship.
Oh and btw to repair and refuel the idris just go to any mining station. It works.
Olli43 you are amazing man! Every your story is fantastic and i have fan everytime i see your videos. It must be very fun doing pvp with Idris. Iam really exciting when the Pyro will be unlocked and you will do massive explorations. Iam huge fun of SC. I supported this game on Kickstarter. Keep making this videos. The only time it's wise to stay in front of the rail gun of an Idris, is when it's targeting is controlled by someone with the accuracy of a standard storm trooper using a blaster. At which point, that's the only safe place to be. Cheers!

A few patches back, I was stealing these all the time. An Idris v Idris battle is just about the most fun you can have in SC. Fun to one shot Hammerheads from 35+km away! The rail gun shots aren't unlimited but it'll take 2 at least 200 to run dry. I only ever ran out once. So much fun! I might have to take up stealing these again. 😊
Awesome ship, but I can see why it’s not ready for purchase yet. Imo, capital class ships should be even slower in atmo, and should fall to the surface if you fail to keep the VTOL thrusters pointed down.
These are the biggest ships in the SC universe. They were likely constructed in space. So they should be incredibly cumbersome to fly in atmo.

Im not sure if a frigate like the Idris is considered a capital ship, correct me if I'm wrong.
I think they technically do for balancing how many people could own such large ships lol
When we steal the Idris, we use the bed of the Nomad because it also has gravity (I swear the Nomad is the most underrated ship. Wait till it gets its tractor beam). It's just as easy. We use a box to stand on (instead of jumping like you did) to get closer to the seat. I bet you could do the same with a Carrack (using boxes to climb on). Quantum is extremely slow in the Idris and we had to quantum jump with other ships to get anywhere in a decent amount of time. Another interesting fact is the turret gunners side with whoever is in the pilot seat and have the same crime stats. One of the Idris we stole we used to "aerial bombard" Lorville. We had people inside of New Deal to get videos of the railgun blasts hitting the glass roof above the Hammerhead that is there.
I don't know if you finally stole the F8 or not. The way to steal it is to "shoot the canopy open first" before you kill the pilot. It takes a lot of ammo to do it but eventually, the canopy will open. Then kill the pilot and move him from the seat. It's been a while since we did this, so maybe CIG fixed it so it can not be done anymore.
Sadly CIG entirely removed our ability to steal any ship which only has a cockpit, we can steal ships with an interior but ships like the mustang alpha and F8A are sadly out of the question now
I remember at the xeno event somehow we managed to blow the back hangar door off and went inside that was cool am not sure if they used nearly finished models for the event as we could only run around in the hangar.

@Olli you can service a Idris even at SCD-1 on daymar.
So I'm a newb looking to buy SC possibly and want to know some things before investing. 1)when you buy a $45 package you get the game and a ship, is that a permanent ship for you in game of you die and respawn? Or do you have do spend another $45 to get another ship? 2) what's the difference between a $75, $99 or a $45 package I guess I'm not quite understanding the whole package concept. You get to keep your ship. That would be against law if you lost your ship that you paid real money for. There are different ships for different price points. It's important to do your research and see what ship you'll like the most. If you end up not liking the ship you can always upgrade.

All is looking very impressive, especially with the AI turrets blasting away. Will we get AI NPC's crewing the ships for if we can't get enough player crew, like an engineer to put out fires and repair on the larger ones? I hope they will put as much effort in for the science missions, when they start working on that side of the game. LOL when someone asks "what ship are you in?"

Awesome video, Olli. Was a lot of fun. I am gonna ask this - Am I the only one who really could care less about the Idris? The Polaris is so much more exciting to me regardless of the size. I really have zero interest in the Idris as far as owning one. Its very big and very powerful but Im just like "Meh..."
I'm also hoping I'll be able to play this game soon, maybe in this July if there will be a free fly for the foundation festival.

This game really needs sorting out, this morning I logged into the EU servers only to find the ASOP and the Refinery terminals were all down.
This are an essential game play mechanic, if they cannot sort out simple things like this then there really is no hope.
I really hope a ship like the idris can be used somewhat solo. As in a flying mini base you keep your smaller ships in. I love the idea of multicrew making these ships much more efficient but would be sad if multicrew is a hard requirement to fly a ship like the idris. Great vid, only thing that would have made it better is if you threw in the taco bell sound when you hit the reclaimer with the rail gun ha
I think it will be possible but barely so, otherwise it would make it a bit too gamey imo and take out the challenge of running large ships like that,
you don't want to run a ship like that with only a skeleton crew not mentioning only 1 person
As a solo player it will be really nice when/if they add in ai gunners for crewed ships

Not sure what your target was during the HRT segment. But remember, the game still has the bug where the front S2 shield on NPC ships is invulnerable. So that might have caused the “why didn’t he die?” sentiment.
It's a pretty impressive ship. Question is, how the heck do you get close to that Helmsman Seat if the ship is moving. That must be difficult! Or do they use Distortion Cannons to deactivate it first then EVA to the Bridge Window?

so if the PES is working, and the station can't impound the idris... is it just going to be taking that hanger up at grim? what if someone else spawns a carrack or 890 jump? do they just explode on the pad when they spawn?
Carrack will spawn in other hangars, 890 or reclaimer will be in queue for a hangar 13.
