This series is very helpful. I have a 91 my self im 20 yrs old and don’t know much about these cars. I would want to know how to adjust the tv cable on the throttle because my vet does not shift the smoothest. THANKS JERRY 👍🏽
Thanks for the comment Joshua... I really appreciate it... For the TV cable disconnect the cable from the linkage then you can push the silver clip inwards and then move the slider all the way towards the bracket. Reconnect the cable and then simply push the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. That should reset your cable.
Thanks JerryThis should be the same for my 88 35th Anniversary..
I'm going to ne replacing the radiator and want to replace the thermostat as well..
Appreciate it!
Also is the correct part number 8603?
Glad it will Help... Thanks for the comment..
I think the 180 is the best. Basically the thermostat tries to maintain about 180F but the fans are not set up for 180, so in normal conditions while in motion the coolant will stay 180 but while idling in traffic the ecm lets the engine heat up to 230F which is not great. I’ve set my fans at 180 and secondary fan at 185; and I have 185 constantly regardless of driving conditions. However, I’ve replaced the stock radiator with a double row aluminum. After installing the radiator I had a 160F which kept the engine at 160 while moving, but that was too cold, below nominal temperature, so 160 doesn’t make sense for me
Thanks for the comment. I have been experiencing my cat running around 180 even with the 160 thermostat. Of course we only run in the summer time and usually a lot of stop and go traffic. I still have the stock radiator also. Each application may be a little different based on usage and mods. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching.
@@JerryJacksonDIYIf you have a 160 but temperature stays 185 or above all the time it means it stays fully open always (except before warming up) so the cooling system is not working properly. I had the same problem before replacing the radiator. the radiator was full of small pebbles and sand which reduced performance. I think you need a new good radiator the cooling to operate properly . On my previous engine the head gasket failed probably because of overheating
What do you think is a better temperature range thermostat to install for these L98 corvettes? 160f or 180f? Most people install a cooler running thermostat because they say 195f oe temp is too hot in traffic.
I like the 160 thermostat to keep it cooler on hot days. Thanks for the question.
I am planning on putting 17 “ front and 18” rear wheels like yours on my 87 convertible . Did you need spacers for the offset difference ?
No spacers required. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.
Out of curiosity, could you clamp the upper radiator hose shut instead of draining the system?
Sure. You could do that. Still going to lose a little coolant.
@@JerryJacksonDIY turns out there’s a spring inside the upper hose to keep it from being clamped but I appreciate the response!
