Jamie, you helped a great deal. I was able to personalize an object for my granddaughter. The example you gave had raised letters, above the workplane. What about text cut into the workplane. Is there a way to do that? THanks again.

Yes at the point where she sent the text back into the cup base if you make the text a hole then group the trophy and text it will creat a hole / indent where the text is.
