This tutorial was PERFECT! I have never knitted ANYTHING- But wanted to handcraft something special for my 73yr old mom- a giant 'hug' so to speak! I DID IT! Not only was this the first thing I have ever attempted to knit, I am Left-handed, and was easily able to switch hands and hand knit a chunky lap blanket-shawl for my mother!! This young woman is AMAZING! It took me only an hour from start to finish! Thank you so much! Would HIGHLY recommend this tutorial!!!! Everyone should try!
started mine today..im using two strands one grey one dusky pink. each 5mm thick . so 10mm with both , its sooooo easy i love it . thank you for sharing 💜
Thank you so much! You are an excellent teacher!! You took just enough time on each step to make sure we could see and understand what you were doing. Great job! Thanks again.
This looks SO much easier than the "traditional" way!! Thank you! Thank you!! As a Mommy to 3, I really need to be able to walk away from a project at any given moment. :)
This was by FAR the BEST informative video I've seen on hand knitting! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this. I was ready to give up after watching like 6 other videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This is wonderful!! I bought a HUGE roll of yarn (?) from Wish because I figured it would be best to start with something cheap. But now I feel confident enough to buy real yarn and make a blanket. Thank you!!
Best tutorial! I like the way you keep repeating what you're doing. It helps to get it in my head to say it as I go. I have not started one, but this inspires me to do so!
Perfect, Easy to understand directions! If I think I'll pull up this video when I start just to make sure I'm doing correct and then again at the end where you cast off just to make sure I'm doing correct! Thanks for the information on which "yarn" not to purchase bc that had me concerned and also had never heard of the needle and felter matt I think you called it. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! The info on How many pounds is also something I needed! You're amazing and so fun to watch!
I use to make these with my Grandmother when I was a little girl. Except we pulled the knits tighter We used old sheets and unused sewing material. If we had a lot of old towels and other materials we would make rag rugs either by knits or weaving...depends on look or shape we wanted
that sounds really cool. my grandma taught me to crochet but I'm rusty. i wish i could make one like you are describing. what she is making is way too expensive and i don't want the cheap kind. plus it sounds like yours had more character! do you still have any?
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video to show us how to do this. I think it is pretty neat. I knit and had seen arm knitting in the past. Never thought of trying it. You had made this seem fun and simple. Your instructions were easy and step by step. You had been clear on the type of yarn to purchase and the tools to have. I will be giving this a try and following your channel. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Thank you for sharing.
I am happy I found your Video. I wanted to make this blanket for my daughter but did not know how I was going to use those giant needles. Love this Video and the beautiful blanket you made.
Great video! Looks much easier than arm knitting...although I'm afraid that my back would tire from leaning over a table that long. Thanks for explaining the difference between raw roving and felted yarns. Beautiful blankets!
This looks wonderful, can't wait to try it. on another video the lady said you could get acrylic yarn at Michaels art and craft not wool but acrylic with same look less money good to try out before you go on to merino wool.
I just made this last night but I've run out of yarn so it doesn't look that good but for a first time project I think it looks pretty good. I can't wait to make another one.
Wow!!! You are amazing at this!! I have some of this big chunky yarn/wool I've been hanging on to for a while, just procrastinating I guess. I was going to arm knit a blanket, but I'm so happy I stumbled on your tutorial!! This is the way I'm gonna go!! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
I like this new craft...brilliant....i must find out where to get the yarn....don't know how many times i've thought..if only there was a way to make a yarn blanket in a short time"...BRILLIANT
I actually did it with merino wool (the non-felted yarn, mulesing free...) last week, was my first and it worked quite awesomely... (if that is a word :p ) anyhow, the dog nest I made isn't doing as well, they love to pull it, but the blanket is just awesome.. It was a bigger one and I actually spent 3 hours making it :D
Love this and especially the explanation of the materials. I need to find a pattern for sweaters and jacket wrap. Love this chunky yarn and so glad I found your company!!
Cannot figure out which yarn was used from your Etsy shop. Plus I need to know the yardage of yarn for this size blanket as I want to make a larger one and cannot determine how much to buy without knowing the yardage for this size. Thanks.
@@broadwickfibers938 This video is great, I spent a couple hours trying to follow other videos, but this one was understandable and simple. I knocked a good size one out in 3-4 hours.
Hi Mariana, Glad it didn't break on you! It will be a lot more prone to shedding and pilling though, so I would try to keep it in a low traffic area if at all possible : )
I heard every word, too. Why these internet "trolls" would want to leave negative comments for someone who is so generous in sharing....I do not know. Get a life, you envious trolls!

How much yarn do I buy for a 78X80 king size bed blanket with a 18" drop. At the prices I see I am wondering if it will cost a fortune. I love it though. Tutorial amazing
Hi Niki, If you want the blanket blanket to cover the whole bed, you will need 13kgs. Send me a message on Etsy and we can chat prices! I also think a 100 x 40 inch throw works really well to lay across the end of a king size bed and you only need 5kgs for that size
I am making the blanket at this minute! It is so easy. I am succeeding. Tried under another person yesterday who leaves a loop at the end and you go back and pick it up when you pass through next time. That somehow confused me. Both my sister & I were trying and got frustrated. So I turned to your way today and was sooooo glad you use every loop & don't leave any behind for "next time". Already I have gotten so far that I buried a knot & joined 2 skeins together! Ahhhh! Progress! You might be my new favorite and yes I did SUBSCRIBE!
How did you join them?! I'm stuck! I'm using Red Heart Irresistible acrylic/wool blend and ALL the videos I see join wool which isn't the same process as dealing with a blend :)
To join the 2 skeins together you first have to have a knot near the end on each strand from the 2 skeins you are joining. That keeps the yarn/wool from unraveling. You then tie them together which makes a big knot since you are using such fat yarn. When I am making that big knot I leave enough tail on each strand so I have enough yarn/wool to weave in easily.
Thanks Tara! Its surprisingly easy and because the yarn is felted, its durable, so you wouldn't ruin it! I'm available to answer any questions you might have as well! You can purchase the yarn on Etsy from the shop Broadwick Fibers
Tara I got the raw wool to make one (I recommend you buy this felted stuff though) I have never knitted before and this process is super easy! And if you mess up the first time like I did, theres no worries because you can always unravel it and try again!
Try the by hand method with small regular yarn. I do that in the store with a strand to see how it looks done up. Yes, it is not as finished, but it would let you see how you do. It is actually quite simple. I stopped knitting because of using 2 needles and I favor crochet because of being able to hold the weighted item. Her first long chain is similar to what crochet is. You can do it. There is chunky yarn you can practice on for confidence.
Not sure if first post went thru, I’ve used chennile yarn which is very soft. My sides look awful loose and I’m afraid it will come apart, any suggestions Sandy
Love it!!! Im looking for the Dark Teal Color behind you on the Right in your Thumbnail. Idk what Color that would be listed on your Etsy Site. I actually have Cerulean in my Home... but that'll Work. I really like the Hand Dye'd Style. Thanks

Hi , great video, really interesting your yarn looks really nice. I was hoping to make a rug around 160cm x 160cm. Would you be able to tell me which would be the best yarn to use and roughly how much yarn I would need. Thank you :)
Thanks Michael, you will need 5kgs for that size, this would be the yarn to purchase:

How do you wash this when it gets dirty? And will it come apart in the wash?
It won't come apart, but it might shrink, so I recommend hand washing or dry cleaning
Love this video, lots of good information. Please please!!!! I've got to know the name of that song!!!!!
Love that technique and the blanket. Thank you for that tutorial. I would love to make two blankets. The first one I would like to have a bit of cable design...is that possible? And can I dye my own...thinking I would like an ombré effect...not sure how that comes through on a large loop blanket.
Hi Laura, you are welcome! Yes, you can absolutley do a cable design. Let me know if you want me to send you through a pattern with your order!

Bonsoir
si on achète plusieurs pelotes . comment les assembler pour faire un grand plaid ?
Merci pour vos conseils
Good Morning,
All the yarn comes in one piece if you purchase from this listing, so you will not need to connect the ends

How would you wash this blanket? Or would I have to send to the Dry Cleaners?
Hi there! It is hand wash or dry clean!
Quick question: how do you wash these once completed?
Will the finished product size shrink from washing?
Hi There, it is hand wash or dry clean!
How much does a large ball of this yarn run you?
