  • Hello there! In this video we show how to export a rigged character from Blender 3.1 to Unreal Engine 5. You'll also learn how to export an animation and bind it to your skeletal mesh.

    Wow thank you so much for the amazing tutorial! I greatly appreciate your expertise, this was exactly what I was looking for
    I have a few characters with complex rigs that work in conjunction with wrinkle maps.
    I’m looking to transfer them to Unreal Engine for use with motion capture.
    I need the wrinkle maps and their corresponding mask image maps, as well as topology, nodes, drivers, shape keys and UV layout to stay the same. Is there a way to transfer all of these components in Blender to Unreal Engine and have the same character and rig in Unreal?
    For instance when I open the character in Unreal Engine, will all of those components have transferred or will I need to redo them?
    Forgive my lack of knowledge in Unreal Engine, I’m not familiar with it.

      Topology, shape keys and UV Layout will come with the FBX automagically. The other ones will have to be remade inside Unreal Engine, if you have more questions we might be able to help you from our discord server as well!

      Those are bones with custom colour and also custom shapes. If you'd like to, you can also join our discord server and ask for help there as well. Now every time we are working on our models we open a live for the members there

    Thank you for this. Is there a way to import control rigs from blender.

    • @TelergyStudio
      @TelergyStudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible to export the control bones, but they won't be exported with the constraints set up in Blender. So it's better to remake the controls using the control rig plugin from UE5

    Do softwares like iClone, MetaHuman, DAZ Studios, Character Creator 4.0, Constructor 3.0, Maya Studios, Blender, 3DMax export created characters as .json extension files too?

      That's cool, we'll try to make those as well!

    Do you know how can i fix "Imported bone is different from the original please check out for more details"? I already apply all transformations

    • @TelergyStudio

      This one can be a lot of things, you could have keyframes on you armature object, the skeleton mesh that you sent is diferent from the animations and so on. I'd suggest you to re-export the skeleton armature the way you have it now and then try again. You can also join our discord server and we can jump on a call and check it out!

    Hi. Do I need to change the scale parameter and convert the units of measurement to 0.01?

      Nope, the add-on should do that automatically for you!

    Trying to export an Auto Rig Pro rig with that and when it get into Unreal it's somewhat broken. Like some bone are missing weight painting, mainly the forearm and some others.
    I'm not trying to export any animation. Just a basic rig + mesh that I can control in Unreal.

      Since I don't own the Auto Rig Pro addon I don't know exactly how to export it to UE5, but I found some people having issues with that as well, it might be what you need: forums.unrealengine.com/t/in-desperate-need-of-help-getting-auto-rig-pro-to-export-characters-over-properly-please/1543155/3

      @@TelergyStudio Sadly, in my search to fix it, I already stumbled upon that and it unfortunately did not help me :/

      Auto riggers (Rigify included) in Blender all have this kind of problem, they were mainly developed for animations inside of Blender. So exporting them to game engines is always a pain, mainly because of non-even scalling and the use of B-Bones.

    Sorry I wasn't specific
    I have a problem that me and my brother have had hovering over our heads for sometime now.
    My brother and I have been wanting to start making our animation projects in unreal engine, but we have used Blender for character rigging. Now when my brother imports the character for animation but he can move the skeleton. Because he wants to do the animation with in blender itself.
    I.E. move the skeleton without creating a control rig or use imported animations from blender?
    animate it without the control rig? If not is there a way to make an instant control rig for the imported blender skeleton?
    TL:DR is there a quick way to get around this issue?

    • @TelergyStudio
      @TelergyStudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way to do it that we know is to animate in Blender and export the animation. It's not possible yet to create an instant control rig in Unreal Engine.

      Yep, this one I don't show how to set up the material on UE5, just how to import the model and animations.

  • @GabrielCMenon

    Does it work for importing rigify rigs into UE5?

    • @TelergyStudio
      @TelergyStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will export only the deform bones, but if you'd like to get the controllers as well you would have to remake them with the control rig on UE5

    kinda useless plugin doesnt do anything but make more work look less. I was hoping for some kinda converter of Control Rig in Blender to Control Rig in unreal
