    Yes, a comparison between sculptor and df64v would be most welcome. Keep up the good work!

    Yep, a comparison between this DF64V and the Sculptor 064S/078S would be very interesting. They seem silimar in functionality, so which one can make better espresso? Based on your review of the 078S I kind of expect the DF64V to be better out of the box thanks to those DLC burrs, pretty much everyone seems to like them, but who knows... I imagine that equipped with the same SSP burrs results will be very similar with both grinders. The Sculptor seems to be more difficult to customize with new burrs though, which isn't ideal. I'll keep an eye on the new DF64 Gen 2 too, apparently it uses the same burrs as the DF64V without the DLC coating, but I've heard the DLC burrs will be available for it as an option, and it's equipped with the new "plasma generator" which is supposed to reduce static to the absolute minimum. It looks very nice and a big improvement over previous DF64 itinerations, solving most of their issues, and the stock burrs seem to be better too. Interesting times for those of us looking for a new grinder, there are so many options to choose out there. 😊

    I love mine. Had it for about 5 weeks so no comments on longevity. No stalling issues but also always hot-start. I use it for filter and espresso and for various roast levels so the variable speed and a 64 mm platform was my main reason to purchase this model. Only small additional quirk I have noticed is that adjusting back to espresso after running filter I have to do this with the motor on - to drive out bigger particles between the burrs - otherwise it kind of binds and do not allow to get to the fine setting. I agree on the wooden platform being a strange afterthought - it is working fine but still. I use an acaia portafilter dosing cup and only use the DF64V cup to weight off the beans and put in the Grinder. The Acaia cup has the perfect hight and close any gap to the shoot.

      Thanks for your experience. I don't do filter often so it's good to know that it's a real selling point

    I canceled my 078S pre-order a while ago and got this. All of the reviews that have come up seem to support that I made the right decision. Not that the 078S is not going to be worth the kickstarter price, but the continued wait, lack of burr options and (IMO) better physical appearance were my deciding factors. No ragerts.

      Yeah there was a lot of hype for that grinder for sure

    The wooden platform and added cleanup are potentially dealbreakers for me. How is the alignment, though? Is it "permanent" like the Option-O's P64?
    The Option-O is three times the price! With the same Burrs, would the Option-O taste better?
    I'm also toying with the idea of a Zerno. But, it's not variable speed, and I think the variable augurs would be a pain to keep swapping.

    • @homecafecharlie
      @homecafecharlie  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Stock alignment was perfect. I had 2 of them and both were perfect.
      Zerno looks amazing. I'd love to try one. There are new ones coming out like the Varia VS6 and the new Mazzer. All of it depends on price really. 64V is a great option

      @@aryehh7128 Aligning burrs is a whole thing. It's not that hard but it can take a while. I put SSP burrs in my DF83 and they are great, but they were misaligned and I needed to put some aluminium shivs in there.

      @@homecafecharliehow can I tell if my burrs need to be aligned? would I hear chirping when I try to make espresso?

    • @homecafecharlie
      @homecafecharlie  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aryehh7128 you would hear that anyway when the burrs touch. Look up how to align burrs, the method uses a whiteboard marker to see where the burrs touch first. I think Lance Hedrick did a video on it.

    Would you prefer this one or the df83v2

    • @homecafecharlie
      @homecafecharlie  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use both, probably the 83 is better for espresso by my estimation, but the 64V is more versatile and grinding on a lower speed for filter makes a massive difference for taste. 64V is a better all rounder but I mostly do espresso, so I'd go for the 83 if that's all you do.
