    I literally just finished my Combine guitars 8 string kit yesterday. Bought is just to see if 8 strings are for me and to, of course, play Demiurge :D
    It seems to me that the headstock sting locks are not from the original kit? If so, what are you using? Any other mods from the stock kit?

      Nice! I’m really liking it but did have to modify a number of things, including the string locks which broke a couple strings. This one is just a $20 one from Amazon and works well. I also added a Lundgren M8 in the bridge, and better electronics. And demiurge was a good test, probably the easiest meshuggah song but still took some concentration and counting haha.

      @@CucemberJones Would you care to go into a little bit more detail on what modification you did and why chose to do them?
      here are mine:
      Added washers into the tuners so that the tuning ends won't wobble in side the tuner body;
      Routed body for Fishman Abasi pickups;
      Added an extra jack for comfort;
      Added battery box;
      5 way Schaller switch;
      Arcade button killswitch;
      Sculpted the neck heel to more resemble Strandbergs;
      Made the center plane of the neck slightly thinner and added a slight S shape curve to it, to more resemble the shape of Strandberg necks, this also meant narrowing this plane, which is also more Strandberg-like, the end result is pretty close to Strandberg, i believe;
      New nut for better string spacing, as original one was cut really bad;
      Finished the fretboard with Minwax True Black;
      Finished body with Minwax True Black.
      Finished the neck and body with Minwax Wipe-On Poly.

      I haven’t addressed the tuner problem yet but was going to try to put a nut on the small bolts to keep them in place.
      New string retainer at head from Amazon.
      Strandberg Boden nut, filed down to make use of zero fret. Was too wide so had to file down a bit.
      Put new pickup on stock baseplate to get angle.
      Fret level and dressing, ends were sharp so filed down those too.
      India ink on entire neck including fretboard.
      Cts volume pot, tone not wired.
      New Amazon input jack, I couldn’t get the stock one to work at all.
      Didn’t like the finish after trying wipe on poly, so currently re finishing with black lacquer.
      🤘🏼
