    I have one of those kits. I don’t use it very often because my machine tends to be louder when I use “homemade” pods. So I don’t use them very often.

    You can take a Nutra bullet style blender and you can grind your coffee grounds even more to get more in the pod.

    I believe you are supposed to line up the tab on the foil with the small landing on the top of the holder to help facilitate lining up the foil with the pod.

    surely if you put the black rim on top of the capsule whilst filling it will prevent coffee going on the rim, this will avoid having to brush the sides. Then press down the coffee and seal. Thanks for the video.

    I tried this kit with ground coffee and it was too light (as you mentioned; the grind was too coarse). I also tried to grind my own coffee…and it was too coarse in my cheap grinder. So…both were a fail. I like the idea of having the coffee shop grind it down for espresso!

    • @lilizzy428
      @lilizzy428  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I’m in the exact same boat! 🥲 I can’t wait to get my own coffee grinder so I can switch up my grind time when I want to make different types of coffees. But until then, coffee shop grinders will have to do!😂

    How many capsules do you think you could fill with 1 bag of coffee? I definitely agree that it’s a fun way to use coffee that you love, but I’m looking for a rough per capsule cost to see if it’s worth the work. 🤔

    • @lilizzy428
      @lilizzy428  ปีที่แล้ว

      What’s so funny is that I thought about this exact same question too! I’d love to test this at some point, especially when it comes to the bigger pods. I think it will definitely come down to the quality of bean you buy and how you like your coffee. I think I spent over $20 on the bag of beans that I got in this video and although the espresso lasted me quite a few pods, I think that it probably was about the same amount as 2 nespresso sleeves of a double espresso pod. (So I guess the price evens out there and wasn’t super worth it!) If you buy pre-ground store coffee that is like $10 a bag for your usual 8oz. pods, I think you might get 1-2 more pods than a regular nespresso sleeve…so slightly more worth it! But saying all this out loud, I think if you buy your basic pods from nespresso (or better yet in bulk on Amazon) without dabbling too much into the new or specialty ones that are more expensive per sleeve, you really don’t save money with this refill kit 😅😂 I’ll be testing it out though personally and give some updates cause you have me thinking now!!😝

    Soooo, getting the tin off of an original nespresso Vertuo pod seems really hard unless I'm doing something wrong. Specifically, the tin on the edge of the pod sticks and is extremely hard to get off. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to do this step easier/with less effort? Thanks for the video!

    • @lilizzy428
      @lilizzy428  ปีที่แล้ว

      I experience the EXACT same thing with the sealing of the Vertuo pods - I find it’s not as horrible when I take it off right after brewing cause the pod is SO hot that the sealing on the tin stickies hasn’t had a chance to cool down and restick all the way….but the downside is that the pod and seal is still VERY hot :(
      Unfortunately, I haven’t notice it gets any easier on my end… :( reusuable products have always been a bit inconvenient for me in different ways, and I’ve learned that unsticking this tin seal and washing out the pod is the inconvenience for this one 🥲
      On the bright side, I guess it’s good that it’s sticking because you did the sealing right - I have seen some people’s lift up while brewing, leaving a little bit of a mess!

      @@lilizzy428 Great idea about how to remove the tin, and will give it a try (with caution) after my coffee this evening! I look for opportunities to decrease my carbon footprint whenever I am able....and of course, would love to be able to use other types of coffee in my Nespresso machine. Thanks Lilliee!

    How do they compare to Nessus lids?

      Great question! I haven’t tried those lids, but they look very similar to the geesta lids…I would hope they are of similar quality for roughly the same price on Amazon, but Nessus has less reviews…that could be a great thing to test out on the channel though to see which kids hold up better! 😉

      Yeah I truthfully find myself using the already made pods versus refilling them. It could be great for once in a blue moon decaf drinkers (moi included) who don’t want to buy whole sleeves of decaf pods!

    For the love of all humanity please listen! The world almost ended because i did not get this right and lucky for you all i had spare ones until i can fix this issue. I refilled 30 of them and unlike me i didnt teat them prior to doing all of them. You must get dark roasted and finer and fill the pod up and pack it down well. Once sealed if you hear it moving ur coffee is gonna be weak and will frustrate you

    • @lilizzy428
      @lilizzy428  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for this! Yes depending on the pod you’re filling you need to use espresso ground/finely ground coffee and tamp it very well to get a strong espresso-like brew. It’s not perfect ofc, but it should come out of the pod like a packed espresso puck on a semi-automatic machine!
