I personally just thread my house right in to it. There are less things to worry about. All I have to worry about is the cap. It also seems like the water pressure is stronger.
Good question. I flush my motor after every use. If you let it sit, you'll probably get more build up. It's probably a good idea to use saltaway after a couple of trips. I'll probably start doing that, since this is my first season using this motor.
Roughly how long do you let the fresh water run through the motor?
I normally let it flush for about 10 minutes.
