My dad and I had a 17ft Boston Whaler (I don't remember the model name) with wood centre wheelhouse, bench seat, front decking and full canvas fold down weather gear, stainless bow and side rails and a 55hp Bearcat engine. Beautiful boat. I was 12 years old and some of the best times of my life were out on this boat. We completed a power squadron maritime course so we knew how to navigate on the water. Mostly on Long Island Sound to Block Island, blue fishing. I still miss that boat and those times...
Thx for sharing that. Sounded like a cool boat. I’m looking fwd to teaching my daughter how to use this boat. She’s excited to learn. Good times ahead. Send a pic of that boat if you have ,love to see it!
@@robbymacoutdoors.6250 that was way back in 1971/72. Wish I had some pictures. I looked it up, I think it was a Nauset. We were in plenty of rough seas but never felt in danger in that boat. Handled beautifully. Treasure the time with your daughter, it goes so quickly.
Awesome, I run the Same boat out of the Rahway just up the kill. I run a 2021 70 Yamaha and get 37. Be interested to see what you get full throttle once you get there. We should hit the bay one day.
You mentioned you had a Currituck model. I have 63’ Currituck. Richard Fisher did it right. Old school and still today going strong You did a really nice job. Enjoy the summahhh!,
Nice job with your boat, I like everything except the way the cables were run to the motor. With water going into the bilge through the cables to a huge tripping hazard.
Funny, I’m in the process of downsizing boats due to my kids travel sports. Life stages are a shared experience with kids! My new boat I’m also thinking of a Suzuki 90 or 115. Do you still like the engine?
I love these engines. I have a 300 on my 24’ and the 90 has been awesome so far. I luck out having my service center for them one town over. Thats a big part of picking the right motor. I’m definitely a Suzuki guy 👍💪
Sounds like you did this project for all the right reasons. Now you’ll have to trailer it up and down the coast to different fisheries! 😉… Looking forward to the next video! Consider a set of side rails for rod holders?
Yes definitely Spinfish. It’s all about getting out and exploring different fisheries. Not sure what my plan will be for rod holders right now. 6/9 Marine matt comes to spec out the floor. Meantime it’s all about getting out there and enjoying it. Def more episodes coming.
What The top speed you hit with this suzuki 90..? I have my new one 90 then just now doing break in.. Im happy with it.. Then what size of proppler give perfect performance speed?
Prop size is 3x14” 19pitch. I’ve had it up to 42mph. Conditions were perfect that day. Just me on board. Best of luck with your new motor. I love mine. So smooth running.
Wow getting ready to repower a 1965 17 foot whaler. Pulled the 70 Johnson today now looking for new. I run 2 people crab cruise and I'm no speed demon. What motor would you recommend sir?
Well as your can see I love the Suzukis. I’m so happy with my 90hp. I also run a 2020 300 on my bigger boat. They both run amazing! Zukes are priced better but can’t ever go wrong with the Yamahas as well. For me it’s a Zuke
@@jerimahjohnson8698 a 70 is a great hp option. That will move the boat well. I went with the 90 for when my wife and daughter come along . I also will be out on the boat filming episodes for my Chanel so I wanted a little extra hp for gear and my friend who comes along. It will fly pretty good with the 90 but the 70 will definitely do the job well for you. Can’t go wrong with either. Economical as well. My 90 sips the fuel. I can run it at 3300rpms at 25knts.
Still breaking it in so I’ve been up and down the rpm range so numbers are not quite clear yet. Looking like they will no doubt be good. I’ll have some in the next video.
I’m going to repower my 20 ft pro line with a 200 suzuiki I live in north jersey my boat is down in Toms River I think I’m going to have it repowered in Delaware to save on the sales tax . I hate to do that because I love the suzuiki dealer down by you . The savings is another $1700 give me your thoughts you have had various types of Suzuki s
No sure what you mean? but I broke in the new motor an this launch day. Was an awesome time. Hull is great solid and doing well this season so far. Everything is holding up really well.
Boat looks great Robbie!!!! Great job on the rebuild
@@bd_jiggin thanks Brad!! More to come this winter 👍

Nice boat.
Really calm day out there for you, almost like glass. Glad the launch and break-in went off without a hitch.
Thx Bob. It was amazing out there. Perfect day to do that!! Long awaited! Can’t wait to get out and fish on it.

You know Suzuki offers a DF100B now, exact same engine as that 90
What hole is the top bolt in? And what prop are you using?

Nice Job 👍 what pitch prop is it?
3x14”x19” aluminum. Planing on switching to stainless
what kind of wood is the seat bench?
3/4 inch mahogany. Came with the boat. That and the anchor hatch were the only things I saved when I bought it.
What mpg are you getting?

Is that a 17ft Whaler?
16’-7. It’s a pre montauk hull. 67’
That boat flys with a 90

I went to browns I think George is awesome I need to make this decision very soon
You broke the hull with the trailer!? , .... all the outboard motor that do the break-in by the book end up with sluggish engines and no power.

Who tf launches a boat like that lol. Use the damn truck like its meant to be made god bless
