#firsttimewatching #reaction #theexorcist - บันเทิง
My new obsession is watching people watching my favorite film for the first time
25:50 that scene never fails, that's the horror's tipping point.
Nearly 50 years old and possibly the scariest movie ever 🥶.
"The Exorcist" was released on the day after Christmas, 1973.
It is the highest-grossing Christmas week release after 1997's "Titanic", and is still in 2nd place.
The Exorcist's first run lasted 105 weeks, or just over two years.
Simply one of the greatest films ever made. Still has the power to shock and scare while also providing masterful human drama 50 yrs later. RIP William Friedkin.
Nominated for 10 academy, winner of two awards. Only horror movie ever to win an academy award for a screenplay
Almost 50 years after being released, "The Exorcist" to this day still remains the measuring stick to which all other horror films are compared.
That is legendary.
Damien’s mom is speaking Greek in a few scenes: when he visits her at her home, in the hospital, and during the exorcism
Linda Blair won a Golden Globe Award and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Linda Blair deserved an Oscar for her performance. Just the experience she endored to commit the performance to the final print is worthy of immense praise. An unforgettable film!
The 70s rocked!!
Afraid of scary movies, let's start with the exorcist 😂
I thought the same thing. She really jumped right into the deep end.
8:39 actually Greek
The acting in this film is incredible. The exorcism scenes gives me chills every time
The special effects are also excellent.
The guy she said 'you're gonna die up there' to was an Astronaut
Also, I forgot to mention, take a closer look the scene where Regan is being hypnotised. She is in the same pose with her left arm up as the Pazuzu figurine and statue that Father Merrin encounters in the opening scene in Iraq.
Holy smokes... I've watched this movie at least once annually for years & I missed that every time.
Never play with a Ouija board !!!!!
Why??? 😁
Little trivia: Detective mentions Jackie Gleason at the end..Father Karras (Jason Miller) was Jackie Gleason's son in law in real life...Father Karras was also the father of actor Jason Patric..Patric had zero relationship with his grandfather...One other little tidbit. Father Merrin (Max Von Sydow) was only 44 at the time of the making of this film. So Regan wasn't the only one with a great make-up job...He only died a couple of years ago
I love seeing folks watch this masterpiece for the first time. Knowing they'll never be the same...😏😏
I like how Father Dyer has a mini arc of his own going from being a kind of superficial Priest who enjoys the glitz and glamour of being around important people like movie stars and who quips about his idea of Heaven being like a nightclub he entertains at but by the end of the film he has a greater sense of the gravity that comes with the profession and seems to have "grown up" a little after witnessing Karras' death. With all the other interesting characters though it rarely gets brought up
That's an interesting take. I never thought of that.
hm! my favorite film. seen it over 80 times and ive never observed this. very interesting!
father Dyer is a real priest still in Georgetown
The last scene wherein Father Dyer goes to lunch with Detective Kinderman shows the beginning of their relationship that, 15 years later, was a big part of The Exorcist III. It's the best of all the sequels, but still pales in comparison to the original for several reasons including that it wasn't the first and we viewers were desensitized to the special effects and graphic language, violence, & subject matter by the time The Exorcist III came out. One more thing: If my recollection is correct, the actor who plays Father Dyer in the original The Exorcist was actually a priest in real life.
The continuity of the story into part III is fantastic! Pazuz’ revenge hint! Hint!
Actress Linda Blair had a huge cocaine addiction issue when she got older hanging around with musicians Rick James and Glenn Hughes who said her addiction was so much worse than his that he had to stay away from her. She now runs the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation that is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused, neglected, and abandoned animals from the harsh streets of the Los Angeles area, as well as from the overcrowded and overwhelmed city and county animal shelters
I saw this in 73 at a theater in Philadelphia. My faith in God came back.
Moving would not help, this isn’t a haunting it’s a possession, it would just go with her.
Now that you've watched The Exorcist, now you must watch The Omen (1976). Good movies from the 70s
This might be the most innocent and honest reaction to this film that I've ever seen. 👍
🙄
😂😂😂
When I was about 18 my girlfriend and I took her van and saw this movie at the drive-in theater. We turned the back towards the screen, opened the doors, watched while a slow, light drizzle of rain began to develop as soon as the movie started. 45 years later and it is difficult to watch. I'm more comfortable now, but I didn't watch it again for at least 20 or so years. 😎
Phenomenal performance from Linda Blair. She reprises the role as an adult in a parody with Leslie Nielsen called Repossessed.
Emma looks so alluring and sensual. Did she crawl out of the foam in the ocean?
if it's any consolation, there were 6 different people who acted as Regan for different scenes; Linda Blair didn't actually have to do any of the very adult stuff
As a proud Greek my shoes nearly came flying off my feet (by themselves) when you thought Damien’s mama was speaking Italian.
🤣🤣🤣
She was Polish wasn't she.
You won't be so proud when Judgment Day come because the Greek was the ones that tried to destroy God's chosen people and God set a savior just like he's going to send a savior one last time for World War III and it's about to happen anytime so I wouldn't be proud of being a Greek if I were you
My idea was, that she asked the ouija for something, but obviously, demon wants something in return.
the actor who played Merrin was 42 at the time
Great makeup
This movie ranked at #3 in the 100 scariest movie moments on Bravo, cool reaction as always Emma, you take care and have a great weekend sweetie 🥰❤️
Which were one and two?
@@royroland3884exactly my question!
The Power of Christ Compels You!
Well this should be interesting. I'm really looking forward to it. I wish reactors had the opportunity to see it on the big screen with a few hundred other people in the audience. This was definitely one of my most memorable theater experiences. Edit: I'd almost swear that Emma was about to join in on the ' The power of Christ compels you' chant.
Do you remember the police detective in 12 Angry Men? The young priest is Greek.
Oh yes!!!
Nothing like being picked up by your balls when you decide to hypnotize the devil.
The old age makeup by legend Dick Smith on Max Von Sydow is sensational.
He was in his early 40s when filming The Exorcist.
Oh hun that’s not a game. It’s a spirit board (ouija board) used to open a door for spirits/demons. Don’t ever use one.
I saw this movie when I was 8 so I think you'll be ok
The number one scariest movie of all time girl ! 👍😒🇺🇸🇲🇽🇮🇹
Excellent reaction (well edited too)!
Thank you!! 😁
The senior priest had heart trouble. Those were nitroglycerin pills he was putting under his tongue. The actress Ellen Burstyn, who played the Mom, hurt her back doing one of the scenes and still has pain to this day. Great movie. Thanks for the review.
I'm glad you watched the later/edited version. The staircase scene, which is my favorite part was removed from the original release, because they couldn't edit out the wires and harness properly, so it looked wrong. It was then out back in the later releases, where the tech to better edit videos had emerged
😉🤩
The voice of the demon is Mercedes McCambridge. In order to achieve the desired effect, she was tied to a chair and fed a diet of raw eggs, whiskey, and cigarettes.
Emma: "such a sweet girl" Me: "wait until you see her head turn 360 degrees"!
the priest's diary of the real exorcism of a 14 yr old boy is online
The most controversial horror movie of all the time
Never play with a Oui Ya board Miss Emma, people say it opens portals to evil spirits ,like in this movie
Yep....
Linda Blair followed this up by a notorious women-in-prison TV movie. Years later she did a comedy sequel film named 'Repossessed'.
The prison flick was 10 years later. She starred in 3 successful TV movies in 1974/75
I am 37 years old and I was able to experience seeing it in the 90s, because they don't dare to see the exorcist alone in a room with the lights completely off, or that's what we did in my neighborhood, that was true terror hahaha
The devil is a powerful being and after watching this I haven’t missed church once a week haha
Linda Blair auditioned for the horror movie "Carrie'.
The man she tells "You're gonna die up there" is an astronaut. His name is Captain Billy Cutshaw. The writer Willliam Peter Blatty wrote and directed an entire movie with him as the main character; The Ninth Configuration. The actor gets recast in that movie, but it's the same character, which makes it scarier when you realize Reagan is essentially telling him he's going to die in space; he has a mental breakdown in The Ninth Configuration.
Fr. Karras and his mother are Greek.
If you are interested in movies like this. You should review the “Omen” movies from the same era. They are very intense.
Gregory Peck and Lee Remick were incredible.
The statue is Pazuzu, the demon that possesses the little girl.
Absolute classic horror movie.
It might seem a little dated now but this film absolutely terrified audiences when it came out.
Absolutely amazing soundtrack with Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' which is an iconic piece of music.
Dated? This movie on story , acting, soundtrack and practical effects is still better than 95% of stuff we see nowadays! 50 years later and still the best exorcism movie and just a greag movie in general.
@@AntonioGee Facts...
Fun fact the nurse who says Chris McNeill is on the phone is Linda's real mother
Great reaction Emma, I haven't seen this movie in years, and it still creeps me out, nice choice for Halloween Emma. 😯💙
they used a body double for the graphic (vulgar) scenes. she was taken care of in that sense.
Parts of them. Regan saying, "Let Jesus F*** you" with the downward arm motion is Blair. The double is only used when she attacks the Hypnotist, when she's thrown on the floor by Karris, Regan vomiting during the Exorcism, and that half-second post-vomit shot when she first meets Karris
Oh? Emma is a mom? I like when reactors reveal a little about themselves little by little.
When this came out some theaters had ambulances outside because people were loosing it
Both those archaic medical procedures were scarier than anything this demon did 🤔
Linda Blair had severe trauma, she agreed to be i the movie Roller Boogie
Coming back to watch horror movies again and starting with one of the scariest ones is very brave. bold move : D
The odd "walking" priest galloping down the stairs... :-)
This is the first movie that really scared me
21:44 Great move = great noise = great thought, authentic. Lovit. :)
34:28 dog eyes
Priest shouldve thrown the girl out the window at the beginning. You'd still have 2 live Priests.
You should watch the movie in the dark
Linda Blair so underated actress, i think even for a mature actress should be difficult this kind of roles
I love the French Canadian accent. Music to my ears. Je t'aime, mon cherie.
Excellent reaction 👏👏👏
Thank you so much 😀
Linda Blair did the movie so she could buy a horse, but hurt he back so badly in the bed scene she couldn't ride anymore
Lemon tea. Green tea. Black unsweetened tea.
The singing at the start may be the Muslim call to prayer
8:38; 24:00 Nope, he's Greek. 🙂
10:45 Of course it is okay. They are catholics. 😉
Wait a minute!...
A catholic Greek???... Interesting, I've actually never thought about that peculiar case. 🤔😁
That was a great reaction. I wish the priests had survived too. Maybe father Merrin shouldn't have told Karras to get out of the room.
Movie suggestion - "The Birds".
Wow! Great use of a telephoto lens!🤩
The first five minutes of this movie could definitely pass as PBS or National Geographic.🌅🕌🌇🏖
Great commentary Emma!
Glad you think so!
Smoking is good for you. Skip Exorcist II The Heretic(1977). You will live longer. 🙂
All these years later, "The Most Disturbing, Affecting FIlm I've Ever Seen" remains correct.
Now it's time for 'Scary Movie'
national lampoons Christmas vacation
Here is another very good classic. Emma, you always look so beautiful. The priest sacrifices himself to save the girl.
😊 thank you
Great job! Linda Blair was 14 playing this part in 1973!
Thanks!
Special makeup appears from the beginning of the movie. The actor who played the role of the old priest was 44 years old at the time.
The legendary Dick Smith with the make up effects...
My favorite horror movie is. I'm 72 yrs old.
The director wanted to say only one simple thing- restore the faith of the God you follow
The character Regan is twelve years old.
Saw this as a kid and it scared me to death. Hopefully no bad dreams, haha
fun reaction.
My second favorite movie of all time hands down the EXCORIST is the scariest movie ever i love it😁👍
2:43 comment. Yes good relating.-Ernie Moore Jr.
_The Exorcist Files_ is a must to listen podcast for people interested. It's based on exorcism experience by Father Martin Carlos.
Peak '70s pop psychology and occult dabbling!
You are sweet and nice. You have a lucky husband.
😊 thank you
Really liked the reaction and as you don't want to watch it again(understandable, but i have many times) there is still 2, which most people will say is absolute s**t and I agree but it does have more about Pazuzu, 3, which is very good and written and directed by WP Blatty, 2 prequals(Dominion is the only one worth watching) and a new trilogy coming out... All (considering 'Believer'),much easier to watch😂
If you can watch this then other horror movies should be a breeze. You really started with a doozy. Great reaction to this classic film.
The Haunting of Hill House mini series. You'll love it
React to The Exorcist II....
