The woman who played Borat's wife was actually born in Kazakhstan, but then moved to Romania. Yes, the "kazakh" part of that movie was filmed in Romania

This character debuted on a Britain TV series called "Da Ali G Show".
Ali G, Borat, and Bruno are all characters of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. His humour is often based upon trolling unsuspecting people.
He is also Jewish himself despite the fact that he often plays characters that are antisemitic.

Seeing this movie in opening week in movies.. was hilarious 😂
He's actually a British comedian, taking a micky of stereotypes around the world , he totally had the Americans fooled!!!! He also does a movie "Ali-g in da house"...so funny!
You also forgot to mention his Austrian fashionista alter ego Bruno! I have a particularly favourite scene from that movie.

You have to do the sequel. I'd also recommend some of his other movies. Ali G Indahouse, The Dictator and Grimsby are all classics in my opinion. Borat and Ali G were both character that Sacha created for a British skit show in the 90's alongside Bruno, another of his characters.
What makes this even funnier is that Sasha himself is Jewish 😅

The tune that plays when Borat first explores New York (craps in front of Trump Tower and chases a frightened man down the street) is from Midnight Cowboy (1969) where it scored Joe Buck's first exploring of New York (although in fairness he didn't crap in front of Trump Tower nor chase a frightened man down the street).
