    This is the clearest, most concise explanation and demonstration of Japanese short rows that I have looked at! I listened, watched, and read several others - but this one is the best. Finally “I think I’ve got it!” and my back of neck shaping looks smooth and tidy. THANK YOU!

    This is such a cleaner way of knitting the short rows, you can barely tell anything out of ordinary was done. Fabulous. Im making so many mistakes with normal short rows. This is much simpler. Thank you for the video

    I need to echo what is said below. This video is fantastic. I am knitting my first sweater, a total newbie. I have attempted Japanese short rows twice on this sweater and kept getting gaps on the purl side at the W&T. No video that I watched prior explained how to properly close the gap on the purl side like you do here. I just kept "rewinding" this video and following it until all my short rows were completed. They look fantastic!! Thank you. - from A new knitter and subscriber.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I've watched the "wrap and turn" method and was so confused, but this method looks much easier with less hassle.

    Your fabric looks perfectly smooth! Will try this. Other videos I have seen on this technique end up with big gappy holes.
    However I think you should show us a better view of the finished result incorporated into a sock or something.

    Just a side note for those of you who might be using yarns that don't have a lot of stretch/give to them. I typically use lace weight yarns, and my preference is cotton or bamboo. Neither tend to have give much at all. I love this short row method, but when finishing a purl side short row this method can be difficult and pretty tight. I was able to work around this issue by doing the following:
    After finishing your purl side short row, turn your work and slip the first stitch as normal. The change I made is to hold that first slipped stitch, with your thumb, about one stitch width away before knitting the next few stitches. Then you can let go of that first stitch. This prevents you from pulling that extra slack while knitting the next few stitches. This slack gives you enough give to do that following purl side short row without it being too difficult or too tight, while still not leaving a gap/hole.

    do you also use this method when working in the round? the first wrap or method i use always turns out smooth and lovely and the second never picks up as nicely. can you recommend a tutorial on how this is done very cleanly? if that exists.

    This is a good video for JSR. I really appreciate you made this video for all knitters. My question is, how do I fix JSR where I knit or purl the first stitch and psm on the yarn after turning instead of slip first stitch?

    Your explanation of this technique is so clear...thank you! My one question: when a knitter has finally made as many short rows as needed, how does one resolve/close up the last two loops that have been captured on the stitch markers? (when knitting the next full round with no short rows?) I am working the neckline of a top-down, raglan sleeve sweater...)

    • @aitionaphros
      @aitionaphros 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paula Bogert I had the same issue. Find my answer at a sock knitting video th-cam.com/video/NzzVNQ7SGbc/w-d-xo.html It is at te end of the video. You don’t turn last time. Instead after you pick up the first stitch, knit the round and you pick up the second one from the other end.

    Hallo and thanks for a very nice video. I wonder does this work for a top down raglan sweater with circular needles, where I want to make the short rows on the backside at the neck?

    The technique is easy enough; the problem comes with patterns being vague on where the shot row starts and stops. They should provide a diagram!
