Watching King Viserys barely walk into the throne room while assisted by his brother, his plea for his family at the feast and what he last said in his deathbed, all an absolute perfect performance from Paddy Considine. He deserves the awards for this season 🐉👑🖤
Best scene is that king returns. He wants no one to hold him . And when he realised that it was Daemon Viserys was relived ❤️❤️

@@Dracarys_123 I legit started crying, I hate needing the help of strangers, it makes me feel weaker than I already am, I want to be a better man who can do things on my own. My brother have been away because of work for a few years and recently moved home, I was about to collapse on a flight of stairs before he caught me. And unlike the rest of my family and friends, not having seen or understanding how bad things had gotten before that moment. I would be so embarrassed if it was anyone else, and to some extent I still am. Having lost the ability to be the man I once was, can't even play with my newest nephew like I used to do with the others once he gets bigger. All I can do is hold him in my chair while my sister gets some much needed sleep. My biggest fear is that the doctors are wrong and that I'll live longer than expected, ending up like Viserys or both my grandparents. Old, tired, my mind gone not understanding why my body is failing. When I got the news that I had 10 possibly 15 years at most it was such a relief. I can at least die with the dignity that even though my body doesn't work, my mind is still intact. It's the only thing I have left, when I'm not being pumped up with morphine.

@@adingdingdiiing6740 Nothing Matt Smith has done in this series have lived up to an ounce of the emotion and flair Paddy put into the last few episodes. Brooding, cold and quite are easy to play. Feeling for Viserys and having intense emotions and regret when he dies is not something that could be easily done. Especially considering how horrible he was in the first 2 episodes.

The emmy's and other Hollywood awards have been a big joke for a long time. It's all popularity contest and internal Hollywood politics, so I don't expect Paddy will win one.
That moment of Viserys dropping the crown and Daemon picking it up and helping him onto the throne might be the best scene in the season so far and even got a few tears out of me, fucking incredible character drama and writing.

You showed true grace and have redeemed yourself from the revolving door of 3 seasons of Logan Roy comparatively much more selfishly and toxicly refusing to die. And yeah, Paddy's Viserys is the unsung hero kinda like the Hobbits are. If anything he's not smeagol he's Bilbo. So we have indeed come full circle into GRRM paying tribute to JRRT
Paddy transformed Viserys, who in the books is an ineffective and mundane character, into a tragic and sorrowful king who only wanted peace for his family and his kingdom, but his own actions accidentally set the chain of events that will lead to war. He gave him so much depth with his performance. He played a king who was too human to play the game of thrones.

I think he did it fairlly well in fact. He was diplomatic more than conflictive; but he did maintain peace at his time... his familly where the ones who 'corrupted' his work.
In his youth, Daemon was an absolute prick; it's normal Viserys did not trust him with the crown; he could have been a second Maegor. Marring Daemon with Raenhyra would have solved the issue of the Great Houses not wanting a queen... but the young Daemon trully seemed too autodestructive to trust him. Having named him Hand may not hae been a good choice either; see what he did with the goldcloacks...
Viserys should have married her Velaryon niece (don't remember her name now) but to be fair; choosing Allicent was a humane mistake... and it was Otto's doing to put her in his bed... and she gifted him with Warhammer minis; who wouldn't marry a lass like that?? XDD
Rhaenyras affair with sir Strong was not his fault either... he could have denounced his grandchildren as bastards; and name Aegon his heir... but this would have ended with half his familly executed... or Raenhyra feeling betrayed; and starting a war a decade earlier...
He shoudn't have let Allicent and Otto to gain such power during his decay; but at this point he was too weakened to be blamed... he should have kept Rhaenyra by his side, and named the seeminglly more wise and calm older Daemon as his Hand to ensure the succesion clear... but this would have clearlly created more friction with the Greens; who could have fled the Red Keep and rallied around in Oldtown; again, starting a war a decade earllier.
Each way; all his actions did keep his peace; no matter how hard his familly did to spark the war... his only true wrongdoing; was diying... and we can't blame him for that xD

I cried this entire episode. When he met Rhaenyra's kids, when she came to him to tell him she didn't want to be queen, when he came into the throne room, when he gave his speech at dinner. Paddy did his job.

I know we enjoy big and epic battles but it always boggles my mind at how compelling great character drama is. This show makes family dinners into something so fun.
The scene in the throne room was absolutely incredible
The earlier seasons of GoT were amazing because of this only. You’d get giddy when Tywin or Olenna would be part of a scene, not because they rode dragons or were good at killing people, but because of what their characters added to the scene just by their presence, let alone dialogue. Sure, the Battle of Blackwater was incredible, but Joffrey’s small council meetings were infinitely more fun to watch.
And the music was just superb. Ramidi I know I spelled his name wrong. But he is always dropping bangers

In the book, Viserys' death is where the story basically starts. The show (and Paddy) did an excellent job in adding a whole new element in telling King Viserys' story leading up to the dance. Apparently GRRM himself has even praised the show and the actor for making Viserys I significantly more interesting than in the book.

It’s been reported that hbo wanted to start the spinoff with the dance and leave everything we’ve seen out or talked about in exposition.
But Martin was insistent that the first season happen the way it has. And it makes sense.
We needed to see this story and the buildup so we knew these characters and what was at stake. It would be like if GOT had started in s2 and Robert and Ned deaths were not seen. We would be told what happened….but feel nothing for it.
I have also loved the decision to start before Viserys death. I am so invested in the stories and can empathise with both sides such that when the war breaks out it will be gut wrenching when characters die even though I know how the story ends
@@MATCHLESS93 The book basically is just general history written by outsider perspective not the characters themself. So the show is allowed to be free as long as it match general plot in the books. Also the prophecy is known only by a king and his successor and no one else so of course it doesn't mentioned in the book.
I know people who have read the book say there are so many even more amazing moments, but I can't imagine being more affected than I was by Viserys's entrance to the throne room. He fought with all the strength he had left to be the king and father that Rhaenyra needed. Give Paddy Considine all the awards.
And this was a show-only construction. This wasn't in Fire & Blood

I think the writers proved how talented they are of expanding a character based on so little information.
I was most affected by his dinner scene, combined with the music.
I kind of annoyed with Vaemond death. Rhaenyra Feeds him to her dragon. I feel like they are sugarcoating her character and removing her bad traits
If Paddy Considine doesn’t get any award nominations for this performance in this episode…something is seriously wrong, because his entire performance, the whole episode, was just MASTERFUL.

Simply outstanding, Viserys’ final stand on his daughter’s behalf he heard her through her tears and his pain. Daemon’s help upon the throne and placing the crown was touching. All hell is now coming as Allicent received a message intended for Rhaenyra. Wonderfully mastered so sad that there are only 2 episodes left.
Viserys is a tear jerker. The message was intended for Rhaenyra but Alicent should have think all of it thoroughly, she gave him milk of the poppy which clouds Visery's mind, and given his poor situation, cannot even finish his sentences well. But nah, Alicent is self serving
poor writing if alicent actually believed viserys meant her son. That's way too easy and she isn't that dumb. I took it as she heard what she wanted to but im starting to think they actually want us to believe she confused his message? what? she knows of the dream already when he told her over the bonfire.

When Viserys talks about "Aegon", Alicent asks "you mean our son Aegon?" and then Viserys follows up with "the prince that was promised", which just sounds like "yes" if you don't know that term. It would have reminded Alicent instantly of what Viserys told her about his vision of his own son Aegon, at the bonfire. So Alicent misunderstanding it completely makes perfect sense and fits perfectly with what she knows and how she would interpret it. It's brilliant writing.

This guy who played Vaemond actually proved himself to be one of the most compelling, charismatic characters on the show. Shame they didn’t use him elsewhere but man he went out with the best scene so far of the show

Such a powerful episode. Seeing the king as this old decrepit man just wanting to mend his family back together before he dies, what a tear jerker. Amazing performance by Paddy on this one. I'm sad to see him go and kudos to the makeup team, they did a bang up job! Once again was not disappointed in this week's episode. Realizing there's only 2 episodes left is giving me anxiety! It's gonna be too long before season 2, I'm gonna have withdrawals like I did for GOT! 😭

It was heartbreaking to see King Viserys struggle to the throne. When his crown fell off I cried. Paddy Considine made the character so human, so warm, and so wonderful. I will miss his presence on the show. HOTD is what great writing and acting is all about.
From Daemon and Viserys constant fighting at the beginning of the series to Daemon picking up his crown while helping him to the throne was just exceptional to see and really got my emotions

He literally doing nothing for his own children and wife, always focused on his daughter and her bastards
His entrance into the court room as well as his speech was at the dinner table was so moving. He made me tear up during that dinner.
I went with no expectations but this show gets better and better each episode.
I was not expectling to cry, but when Viserys struggled to climb the throne and Daemon picked up his crown I was bawling, then I thought I was fine, but in the dinner the tears came up again on those brief moments of joy…

As if Viserys struggling to walk towards the throne wasn't heartbreaking enough, Daemon then steps forward to help his brother up and places the crown on his head. The moment he saw his brother completely helpless, he set aside any grudge for being disinherited and exiled. That scene was pure brotherly love and I just broke into tears. And to top it all off we saw Viserys being relieved for a brief moment at dinner that his family might finally start to get along, right before everything falls apart after he's escorted out. Just utterly heartbreaking. What a grand performance from Paddy Considine.

That throne room scene was fucking beautiful cinematography. And the score took me through every single emotion. This is peak drama. Idk how you guys did it, but you captured the magic. Truly amazing.
The stare down between Daemon and Aemond at the end. Chills!!! The dance is upon us. And it will be EPIC!!!

I think that in every previous scene where chaos erupted and Daemon was present, he just leaned into a wall and watched it unfold. Like the previous episode in the aftermath of Aemond losing his eye. Daemon thrives in chaos and knows he can handle it better than anyone else.
But this time, Daemon intervenes when the chaos erupts, he deescalates the scene by stopping Jace and Luke and sending them to bed. Daemon understood that he is no longer the only one in the family who can play this game, Aemond knows it too. Daemon can not afford anymore to just lean back and have things work out in his favor.

The emotion and tension and makeup in this episode were superb. Viserys' entrance in the throne room was the highlight and a great call back and rebuttal to when Allicent did it to him during his wedding speech.

I couldn't help but noticing that too! The side Alicent sits on is the side where his face is more ruined and Rhaenyra sits on the side that is more whole.

That makes zero sense, because it only works if you consider Rhaenyra's side the "good guys" and Alicent's side the "bad guys". That works for other shows that are much more simplistic, but this show is not supposed to have clear "good guys" and "bad guys". That's not how George RR Martin writes his characters.
And in addition, Viserys misses his arm on Rhaenyra's side while he still has his arm on Alicent's side, which sends out the exact opposite message according to your logic.
The throne scene was masterful. Close to overthrowing the Red Wedding
It was great, but it was nowhere near close to overthrowing THE Red Wedding. Also, I think we have way better scenes than that to get to in the future, so your standards need to get higher.

Viserys has such a tragic story, and every brutal event that will happen from this point forward will have me remembering him.
It’s feels symbolic that as the Targaryen fall more corrupt and grow further apart into their respective factions, Viserys, the one man holding it all together, roots along with it. He always asked for the family to stay together and they did…..for him.

Paddy Considine performance on this show was amazing.
This episode was one of the best episodes out of the entire GoT franchise, it didn't even need to rely on action scenes, just pure emotion, fantastic acting, brilliant writing and some heart wrenching music. Bravo to all those involved!
The Viserys throne scene is amazing.
That scene where Vicerys dragged himself to the throne.. that is a fathers love. What a great episode this is.
Paddy did beyond amazing, but Aemond’s actor gave it his all and more for his scene and came off as genuine and not just trying take over.

overall NICE.
When viserys said "I said it's fine" but it was daemon reaching to help him "c'mon" he said and viserys expressions was all relieved but all so full of determination, he was there to defend and protect his loved daughter. His will had always been HER being Queen!
Wow, has HotD surprised me and surpassed ALL expectations of mine as an avid GoT fan. Cant wait for the last two episodes and for the ‘Dance of the Dragons’ to commence!
I like the Vaemond actor Wil Johnson he's very charismatic I would love to see him in more things.
This is the best episode so far. Viserys making an entrance to support his daughter made me cry so much.
I was unsure about Viseryses casting at first but Paddy Considine did a stellar job, such a likeable and charismatic performance

I think that's the point of her character, for me she obviously doesn't think aegon would be a good king and doesn't want him on the throne but her entire character is driven by duty to her family and her house which is why she pushes for him to be king, I think the miscommunication with viserys just pushes her to do it even more

Vaemond told the bare naked truth. But he was a constant enabler of discord and malcontent since his introduction in the Stepstones. His death by Daemond's hand was EVIL but a necessary EVIL.

OMG!! I had my tissues in every Viserys scene, this episode made me cry like a baby 😭😭😭 I had to keep repeating to myself this is fiction, this is not real, because wowww!!!! Paddy, father of the year defending her daughter till the end!!! I think he saw Aemma in his last moments, his true love 😢

I hope Paddy is talking to a lot of designers for all the outfits he’ll need next year to attend all the awards ceremonies he’ll have to go to and pick up his much deserved accolades! What a masterclass in acting, and this video is a masterclass in character work. The way he understands his character so completely is amazing to watch ❤

i loved this episode from begining to end, and the last King Viserys portrayal by Paddy was an absolute banger, from the moment he (barely) walked into that throne room until his last breath, it was, 10000% great, also Daemon helping him an crowning him, by far a great scene.

He was definitely the right man for the job. Show-wise, Viserys has been my favorite king and ruler since Rob Stark. And honestly, he is possibly the best king we have gotten on screen. Problem is that almost everybody around him is selfish. The book version did this character dirty if this is meant to be his full unbiased story. The final walk to the iron throne has got to be one of the all time great moments in all of thronesverse.
Rhaenyra is especially extremely selfish and no one realizes that.

@@dhananjay1087 She is easily the most selfish character in the show other than her half-brother Aegon. First she wants the power of the throne and wants to be heir, but she refuses to do her duties as heir by marrying someone and making heirs of her own. She wants the perks of the job, but does not want to make the sacrifices that come with it.
And when she finally is more or less forced to marry someone, by her and Laenor's own admission they barely even try to get trueborn children. Instead, she sleeps out of wedlock and passes off bastards as heirs to the throne, destabilizing the entire realm and creating a pretext for a bloody civil war, all for her own selfish pleasure.

Veamonds actor did amazing, showing his defeat in his face but victory knowing he’s speaking the truth and ok with his outcome. It was close to Tyrion’s trail episode....besides the decapitation part

In this episode, you can really see Viserys giving every inch of his remaining life to fix the family. All that he did, he did out of love for his family. An honorable man through and through played excellently by Paddy Considine. He deserves an Emmy! 👏💯

King Viserys I wasn't a perfect king...far from it, he avoided confrontation at all cost until everything started to pile up. BUT, he was definitely a GOOD man. What a good father, brother and grandsire. I was so proud of him in this episode, since he finally stood his ground against the snakes surrounding him. I will miss him...he tried his best, I don't know what would I do in his place. The Iron throne is not for everyone.
I just watched this episode this morning and many story notes made me think of my father who passed away from throat cancer last year. Watching Viserys waste away becoming half of what he used to be, made me think of my father and what he went through in his last 6 months of life. The sounds of anguish from Viserys being moved and cared for by the Maesters broke my heart all over again. That smile that he had on his face looking around the dinner table and seeing all of his family together brought back memories of my father's smile seeing all of us sitting around him having meals together. When he passed away in his bed with the tear coming from his eye it was exactly as Viserys had passed. I was so emotionally invested in this episode because I had lived through it at least in some small part. I'm sure other people who've gone through what I've gone through felt the same while watching this episode. Great job to Paddy Considine, he gave an Emmy winning performance.
Bravo Wil Johnson for his amazing firing performance in this episode! Absolutely unforgettable. One of the best scenes and acts in this show.

This was the best episode for me so far. OMG king viserys I was crying my eyes out😭😭. Paddy did a phenomenal job in this episode.👏👏👏 Every shot was so stunning and every details I loved💞. Can't believe only two episode leave😔.
Have to say despite how little screen time he got Wil Johnson also did a great job as Vaemond, this show despite the jumps in time really proves how much great actors and great writing really go hand in hand a hiccup here and there but thats to be expected, also give Paddy Considine an award already.
