That’s why acting is so great, you can just step outside your own shyness or introvertedness (i am sure this is not an actual word) and let loose. Fun to see that difference!
Also kudos to him for the accent. Can’t figure out what his own accent is (I am not native speaker) but it is very different from Aemond’s.
The guy who was in the Last Kingdom with him( dont know his name) said in the interview that he is not shy at all but mysterious 🤣. I think he nailed the role, even his voice and accent are different. And he only did it with one eye 👍🏻
Yeah, you’d be surprised (or not) at how many actors are pretty introverted or pensive in person.

@@alettaa Ewan Mitchell is from Derby, East Midlands, England. For most Brits, it isn't too hard to pass off a southern accent, what Aemond has, as they usually learn it in acting school or just from living in London during schooling. Not to say Mitchell's acting isn't phenomenal in its own right, of course!
The way they shot the pieces of dragon falling down from the sky absolutely broke my heart. A great decision to shoot it that way.

Elliot's mom saying "oh, it made me cry" 😭. So many of us cried watching that scene, it must have been so emotional for her to see her son acting that scene out.
Such a breathtaking moment, even for those who read the books, was not expecting it like that.
I didn't realise how huge Vhagar was compared to the other dragons, that shot where shes flying above Luke was amazing! This series was amazing and did not disappoint!

The fact that the epic yet bleak multi-million dollar dragon sequence started with two men playing with toy dragons while making sound effects from their mouth is adorable. When I rewatch it Im just gonna think of how they play with the dragon toys 😂

He’s great casting, but unfortunately Aegon wasn’t. The actor is doing a pretty good job, but Aemond definitely doesn’t look like the younger brother. It doesn’t help that as a character, he’s supposed to be more skilled, fit, intelligent and mature, because the writing alone already makes him seem older.

Elliot Grihault really nailed his role. Despite his short presence, he really made me care so much about him (in no small part due to him looking like my own boy who passed away), but his acting is just top-notch. I could feel his doubts about himself, his love for his mommy, his uncertainty when his brother said "Send us!", and finally his fear and tension throughout the Storm's End sequence. But he still put up a brave face and confronted everything like a man despite only being 14 years old, never once backed down and kept his cool and dignity from beginning to the bitter end.
I wish I could give him a tight hug and kiss him on the cheeks, only because I could no longer do it to my own baby, and tell him how proud I am of him and I would gladly stand between him and any dangers.

The fear in his eyes starting from saying goodbye to his mom but never did he object or anything. He was so obedient!😭
@@blackpearl3969 yes, to think that such a talented young actor wouldn't be returning is definitely a real pity, but this in itself illustrates the tragedy of losing such a pure and brave soul in the show. It seems so far we have lost nothing but the good and decent people, Lord Lyonel and Ser Harwin, and now Luke 😭
May the Strong family finally reunite in Heaven where they no longer need to hide and live in shame for they are all so honorable and deserve nothing but peace together.
@@uhrrrrrangels It pains me so much seeing Luke getting jumped-scared by Vhagar in the storm but still went into the castle knowing full well Aemond would be in there. He just wanted to prove himself and help the Queen's cause , but he did it at the cost of his life. I hope Rhaenyra could have made him swear that he would never risk his own life to defend honor but I feel like Luke would still have done it because he wanted to make his mom proud😭

Elliot and Ewan you did a fantastic job, acting like that when you literally have just a moving machine and only using your imagination is so impressive!
Arrax was such a beautiful young dragon. I would love to see concept art and turn around models like that for every dragon, because you can actually enjoy the details of their design and their beauty more than in the show, since they are always shown quite briefly.
Surely there will be toys available of each of the dragons? A missed opportunity otherwise!

The best thing for me it was the knights waiting there. and how those knights all turned at the same time and marched with luke into the hall, it was the best moment for me.

Imagine putting all that money and work into just these 10 minutes. It's amazing what the showrunners of hotD and GoT did. Plus they're also writing and directing.But people focus on pictures that are dark lol

not only did i feel bad for the boys but i also felt bad for that smaller dragon too. the way his wings flapped so fast in that horrible storm and his movements just seemed like he was in a bit of a panic too and i just wanted the smaller dragon and the boy to get out of that storm. i really didn't expect everything to turn out like that and these scenes were so well done. thank you..

The difference between Ewan and Aemond is day and night and that makes his character even more enthralling for me. Such a fantastic casting choice!
Apparently the most horrible villains from the original Game of Thrones were like the nicest people ever. I like seeing them not in character so you can appreciate what a good job they are doing acting.

Lucerys is really good on this part. Perfect casting although its sad will not see him any longer. But men his dress his face - perfection as prince dragon rider. He looks like animated character from how to train your dragon or animation out there. The clothed design is so real. Even the clothing of Jace it make them stand.
Agreed. The last thing you would want is for Luke to die but they did it. Audience and me was that invested in him.

Elliot will definitely for sure get more rules in the future. His performance was incredibly breathtaking. Every scene you can sense all the emotions and the lose all the thoughts in that moment.
Kudos to the all the younger versions character actors and young actors, actresses of this first season. They did a fantastic job.

We'll have the entirety of the rest of the show to appreciate the adult actors. But the younger actors only had a little time and did great in it.

Yes. Kids in GoT some of them characters carry heavy weight and meaning to the story like Bran and Arya. HotD is Luke.
To be honest, I'm jealous, in a good way) Someone has the talent to come up with a story, someone to embody it, someone to come up with visual effects, build scenery, sew costumes, actors, who embodied these characters with their talent and charisma!!!for me, these are such talented people!!! Thank you all for such a wonderful show, we are waiting for the second season!!!

4:02 it's hilarious that the idea for this incredible shot of Vhagar being revealed above Luke came from a guy messing with dragon toys like a 5 year old.

House of the Dragon is the definition of redemption. After the misery that was Season 8, my hopes were so low for this show. But it is truly phenomenal and incredibly well cast. 10/10.
Same but i just hope they keep HOTD standards this way. Season 8 was too traumatic that i cant help but be skeptical about the future
@@annabougato9628 Seasons 7 and 8 were written by guys who don't know shit about GoT and GRRM wasn't even really supervising it, its completely different from what is going on with HotD
Honestly I've never understood why people were so sceptical about HotD. D&D not involved, Miguel being involved, the story already having a definitive ending so no guesswork, etc. All seemed to me like there was nothing to worry about.

@@annabougato9628 Oh I hated season five personally. And that is true, but those later seasons they had very little to go on for the direction, and plus they clearly got tired of it. I imagine this show will only be four or five seasons really, so less fatigue, and a very clear end.
I like the range of Ewan HAHAHAHA him acting and when the camera stops rolling. He's such a gem. Additionally, I like how the team handle his outfit 👌 He looks fashionable for that time period. 👏

I am here to get more of Ewan. He ended us all with 10 minutes of screentime, he is absolutely insanely talented and beautiful.
The actor really delivered by showing us how strong of character Lucerys was. Ser Harwin clearly helped raised those boys to become strong men.
You could tell he wanted to back out as soon as he saw Aemond in the throne room at Storm's End, but stayed and stood his ground as best he could. Harwin and Rhaenyra would've been proud.

I had high expectations for the finale and was not disappointed. What a Dragon fight it was. Luc’s demise whether it was an accident or not will, of course, will call for all hell to break loose in Season 2
I just hope that with shorter amount of time for Season 2, they could still give the same, if not better, quality than on Season 1.

This show has some of the best CGI and Cinematography for a TV series ever.
Amazing job by everyone. Loved the choice of Lucerys' death being rather "an accident" so it is not that black and white. And spectacular performance by Elliot throughout the whole episode, gonna miss him in the show.
Ewan and Elliot are pure talent! Best scene up there with the toast and mini Aemond riding Vhagar. The crew is so good and patient with all details.

It's a gorgeous looking series, the CGI blends in well and never takes you out of the show.
well there were some shots that looked really bad, most of the ones on boats for example, some city wides. but mostly they did a great job

The shot of vhagar looming above the castle walls was one of my favorites in the series. If I was Luke and I saw that I would have dashed home and told Mom “Aemond got there first”.

Even beyond it’s dragons this serie is brilliant in terms of storytelling and cinematography
You know it's serious when a grown adult buys a child's toy. I must say, that one paid off, with the choreography of that sequence being full of tension and believability
Also, I'm gonna miss Luke, such a sweet character. Elliot and Harvey did a great job on his character.
Arrax is such a beautiful dragon. Luc is such a sweet prince that all of the audience just want to protect him and keep him away from any danger. Her mum is in pain and all of us felt that way. They really did a great job delivering the final moments of the first season. Expectations are met.
My biggest praise for this scene is the lighting. Even in the thick of the storm you could see all the action clearly with smooth flowing shots of the dragons. Contrast that to the dumpster fire that was season 8 of got

Elliot grihault nails all his scenes, specially his high valyrian. Probably one of the best speakers of the language just next to milly and matt.
probably this has been said before, but aemond looks so amazing with his long blonde hair, he looks like the perfect warrior and so strong and brutal. i hope we can get an sixth scale figure from here as we did with others in game of thrones, i would get it for sure.

"Its the first dragon fight put to film in Game of Thrones" i guess Ryan kind of forgot about the dance above Winterfell in The Long Night, or maybe he didnt see it because his tv was not high resolution.
The Volume is such an amazing new piece of tech. The Mandalorian, The Batman and now House of the Dragons. As directors get more comfortable with it, I can't wait to see what more amazing locations and scenes we'll get in the future.
The ending's atmosphere combined with the soundtrack and Emma's acting was *chef's kiss* I can't explain the feeling had during that scene but I'd probably never experience it again.
Now I wait for s2 and brush up on my Valyrian skills more
Miguel Sapochnik being one of the key architects of this project made a huge difference. His work on the main series was already critically acclaimed, but I didn’t think he’d manage to do so well in the prequel too, with little guidance from the source material (F&B is made of unreliable historical accounts, with barely any dialogues or lush descriptions to rely on, unlike ASOIAF). His incredible attention to details is one of the reasons why HOTD is off to such a good start. Spectacular directing from a true visionary. Even the actors revere him. He’ll be sorely missed in upcoming seasons. It’s a huge loss for the show.

Seriously a triumph to modern storytelling and masterful handle of GRRM's text. I cannot wait to see the continuation in seasons to come and the nuance you use to add depth to this world!
The amount of effort and work put into this show to create scenes like that. My respect to all the crew, actors and people involved. Great first season overall.

The entire Storm's End sequence, both inside the castle and out in the storm, was incredible! Hat's off to the crew for pulling it off so beautifully.

Emma D'Arcy really looks like a grown version of Milly Alcock in the thumb nail. I love the care that is going into all of the details from architecture to costumes and the music! Stunning.

Seeing all the effort behind the scenes makes everything more magnificent. It is easy to complain about small mistakes when you do not know/understand the tremendous scale behind the whole production.

The Storm’s End sequence was so immersive that you can forget that it was created with extensive CGI. I’m still heartbroken over Luke’s death. I became quite attached to him through the latter half of the season and I look forward to seeing where young Elliot Grihault’s career goes from here.

Storms End looks really similar to Stormveil Castle from Elden Ring, not the buildings, but the feelings and the winds around.
It was a great scene. Well done.

It's actually really sad the way this guy just chuckles as he casually reminisces about telling the SFX department to work on this scene through their weekend, right before he's about to head off and enjoy his.
I feel sorry for the poor bastards that followed their dream and became graphics designers. Awesome job, horrible working conditions, and desperately in need of unionization.
I get the feeling he was exaggerating somewhat. But I have heard a lot about how people involved in CGI, special effects, etc. departments are getting very overworked. I think it was in relation to MCU movies when I read about it, but other huge movies and shows too. They have ridiculous deadlines and get thrown last-minute changes and then people end up criticising the end result (although not in this case) not realising how much pressure is on these people to deliver almost-impossible work. Hopefully not quite the case in this show.
Greg Yaitanes is a keeper. He knows what he’s doing and also doesn’t preach to fans 👍. Strictly about the work, I admire that
