A weekend garage kept car that’s hardly driven I would say no longer than 5 years just to be safe.

Do your guys in the shop a favour and invest in a quality large steam cleaner with the large pad, this will put life back into the vinyl and makes removal of old cracked vinyl alot easier.

I don’t have a garage but I clean them both twice a week with a wrap protector from Chemical Guys. I love taking care of my cars. My Caddy got hit(bummer) took the wrap off myself ordered the parts and wrap, called my body guy and wrap guy. Needless to say I’m good with my wrap. It’s smooth, no runs, no orange peel paint, no excuses why you fuk my paint up. And yes, I’m learning to do it myself.

It’s brittle… because it’s plastic being exposed to UV light. Similar to how signs on buildings fade over time it is UV light degrading the plastic. This makes it brittle and break easier. This same this is happening with the wrap. It spent too much time in the sun and got baked. Making it not as cohesive as before it breaks under the high tension that a new wrap would withstand.

Use a weed burner torch from home depot. Will cut the removal time down to about 30 mins for the bulk. That way you can have one guy on removal instead of 5 guys with heat guns. They also sell a spray that will turn old brittle vinyl into a gummy consistency which will allow it to be removed easily.🤙
